Chapter 212 You Are Really Ruthless
Eugene and Natalie saw the two brothers walking toward Elizabeth, so they followed.
Raymond glanced at them and raised an eyebrow, "Do you need something?" he asked.
Kevin said, "We need to talk to Elizabeth about something."
Elizabeth inquired, a bit puzzled. "What do you need to talk to me about?"
Kevin gave her a gentle and kind smile. "Mom fainted last night and is in the hospital," he spoke up. He knew that if he asked Elizabeth to talk privately, she probably wouldn't pay attention to him. So he said it in front of everyone.
Elizabeth was a bit surprised that Betty had actually fainted. She thought it must have been because of Enrique and Brenda.
She asked indifferently, "And then? If she fainted, then the hospital will take care of her. What does that have to do with me?"
Judging by the looks of the Clark family brothers, Betty was definitely fine. And even if Betty were seriously ill and hospitalized, Elizabeth wouldn't go to check on her.
Kevin hadn't expected her to say that. He cleared his throat and continued, "We're going to the hospital later and wanted to ask if you want to come with us."
Elizabeth shook her head. "I won't be going."
Arnold looked at Elizabeth with a strange expression. "She's your mom! Are you really going to be so heartless?" he said disappointedly.
The old Elizabeth was so gentle. If she had heard that Betty fainted and was hospitalized, she would have been very anxious and would have gone to the hospital to stay with Betty. But now, she was so heartless as to refuse directly. Arnold found it hard to accept her current heartless demeanor.
Elizabeth let out a cold laugh. "Didn't we already sever our relationship? Don't hold any hope for me anymore; we have nothing to do with each other. If anyone in the Clark family has a problem, I won't go, and it has nothing to do with me," she declared.
She emphasized, "Please remember this time, and don't bother me again."
Arnold said, through gritted teeth, "You are really ruthless."
Elizabeth gave him a bright smile and shot back. "Thanks for the compliment!"
Arnold was infuriated. Elizabeth was still as infuriating as ever.
Elizabeth ignored them. Instead, she said to Raymond and the others, "About that sailing trip you mentioned earlier—I think it's a great idea."
Raymond took a few steps to block Arnold's view of Elizabeth. These two brothers were really annoying, always pestering Elizabeth. He smiled. "So it's settled then? My brother has a yacht in Veridiania, and we'll take it out to sea."
Elizabeth and the others nodded. "Alright, it's settled."
Natalie looked enviously at the two groups. She thought, 'I'm really unlucky to be grouped with these three jerks. Otherwise, I could have gone out with Elizabeth.'
Elizabeth, being very wise, sensed Natalie's envy. She thought for a moment and asked Natalie, "Do you want to come with us?"
Natalie's eyes lit up. "Can I?"
Elizabeth nodded with a smile. "Of course you can."
Natalie cheered, "I want to go."
Elizabeth laughed. "Then let's go together."
"Alright!" Natalie immediately dragged her suitcase and stood next to Elizabeth. She waved to the other three, looking smug. "Our group is disbanded; you guys can play by yourselves," she blurted out.
Eugene and the other two were silent. Look at how smug Natalie was. But they had to admit, they were jealous; they wanted to go too. Unfortunately, neither group was taking them.
Back home, as big stars, they were always the center of attention wherever they went. Only here were they disliked and abandoned.
The casts got their phones back, and the ones provided by the show hadn't been returned yet. They could spend the remaining money they had earned before, and they could also spend their own.
The two groups and Natalie took a cab to the beach. On the way, Raymond contacted his brother and got permission to use the yacht.
Meanwhile, Eugene asked the Clark family brothers, "What are you going to do next?"
Kevin said, "We're going to the hospital to take care of our mom."
Eugene nodded. "Then you go ahead; I'll find a hotel to stay in."
The three parted ways.
Eugene found a star-rated hotel to check into, feeling very down. Then, he sent a message in their three-person group chat.
Eugene: [Come drink with me!]
Richard: [You're back already?]
Richard had watched the live broadcast before. Richard thought, 'But isn't Eugene supposed to come back the day after tomorrow?'
Eugene: [Come to Veridiania and drink with me.]
Richard: [You should go to sleep; you can dream during the day, too.]
Hubert: [Eugene, has the breakup hit you so hard that you've gone silly?]
Eugene saw their responses and laughed angrily.
Eugene: [Didn't you guys say before that when a brother is in trouble, we should all be there for him?]
Richard: [Didn't you say we should cut ties before?]
Hubert: [Is it too late to cut ties now?]
Eugene: [Get lost.]
Then, the three chatted in the group for a while. Eugene brought up the fact that Betty had fainted and was hospitalized.
Richard really didn't know about this. So, he called Kevin to ask about Betty's condition.
Kevin reassured him, saying Betty was fine now.
Richard then asked about the reason for Betty's fainting.
Kevin didn't respond and told Richard to see for himself. After hanging up, he sent the video he had recorded last night.
Richard watched the video, speechless. Then he saw Enrique being beaten by Betty with a mop. He couldn't help but laugh gleefully.
Last time, when Richard was hugging Brenda, he got kicked by Elizabeth. This time, Enrique was beaten by Betty, and he finally found some comfort. So, he went to the company to share the video with Loren.
Loren watched the video with a complicated expression.
He stated, "When Dad comes back, Enrique will probably have it worse."
Richard laughed. "He deserves it."
The two exchanged a look, suddenly looking forward to seeing what kind of punishment Enrique would receive.
At the hospital, Arnold and Kevin entered Betty's room.
Betty looked around and, not seeing Elizabeth, showed a hint of disappointment.
Unable to contain herself, she asked, "Didn't you tell Elizabeth?"
Kevin, feeling a pang of sadness, replied, "We did, but she won't come."
He recounted his conversation with Elizabeth, hoping Betty would understand that Elizabeth was serious this time—she really wanted nothing more to do with them.
Arnold sighed and added, "She's pretty hard-hearted right now. She's not coming to see you."
Betty's expression hardened, her discomfort evident. Her eyes reddened as she struggled to hold back tears.
She hadn't expected that even in her time of need, Elizabeth wouldn't bother to visit.
Seeing her three sons staring at her, she snapped, "What are you all staring at? It's your constant troublemaking that drove Elizabeth away."
Betty's gaze grew even more irritated as she looked at her sons.
Now, Enrique, along with his two companions, had been thoroughly tormented by Betty. The three of them were on the verge of tears.
By evening, the four of them were eating the Clifftonshireburg dishes Enrique had specially brought.
Suddenly, Arnold's and Kevin's phones started buzzing incessantly.
They pulled out their phones to check, and their appetites instantly vanished.
