Chapter 444 Confront Ethan to Break His Plans
Amy was beyond crushed. She screamed, "You ungrateful jerk, how can you say that? I'm not the joke here, you are!"
Eugene had enough of Amy's wild outbursts. He'd once cared deeply for her, and it hurt the most. So, he turned and walked away.
Seeing him leave, Amy freaked out even more. She yelled after him, "Eugene, don't go! I'll only love you from now on, don't leave me! If you give up on me too, what will I do?"
Eugene glanced back, his face cold. "Don't you still have that powerful lover? If he loves you so much, let him save you. After all you've done for him, it's time he pays you back."
Amy's face twisted. She denied it, "I don't have any lover, so stop making things up." She'd rather go to jail than drag Ethan into this mess.
Eugene saw right through her. He laughed bitterly, "See, you still love that guy the most. What do we even matter?" Orlando was blinded by love, but Amy was the real deal.
"Don't call me, and don't look for me again. You disgust me," Eugene said, and this time, he didn't stop. He walked away quickly.
Amy watched him disappear, feeling even more devastated. She kept cursing, "You ungrateful jerk!"
Elizabeth chimed in, her voice calm but firm, "Stop cursing. No one here can save you now. Why don't you beg that man you love so much? With his power, he should be able to save you." But she knew Amy loved Ethan too much to betray him.
Sure enough, Amy glared at Elizabeth. "Don't try to mess with me. I don't have any man I love the most, and there's no one behind me."
She then looked at Elizabeth with a sinister expression, gritting her teeth. "Too bad that evil wizard couldn't get rid of you."
Elizabeth just smiled. "That's because you and your lover are incompetent, hiring a useless person to deal with me. And it gave me the chance to see you make a fool of yourself today."
Amy's face contorted again. "You're here to see me make a fool of myself?"
Elizabeth crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "What else?"
Amy was furious. She shouted, "You bitch!"
The love she was so proud of from Orlando was fake, and Percy, whom she trusted, hated her. Eugene, whom she controlled, had abandoned her. Rebecca, whom she despised, was going to inherit the Baker Corporation she had coveted. In one day, she lost Orlando, her three kids, and the title of Mrs. Baker. She became a joke.
Amy couldn't handle it, and now Elizabeth, the person she hated the most, was mocking her. It drove her crazy.
Amy tried to lunge at Elizabeth, but two people held her down. They warned, "Behave yourself."
Elizabeth smiled and continued, "Eugene said you're a joke, and you really are. You think your lover cares so much about you? Just wait and see if he saves you. I bet he won't, because he's been using you from the start. Now that you're useless, he'll ditch you."
Amy shook her head wildly, shouting, "No, no, you're lying. He won't!" She was sure Ethan wouldn't abandon her.
Seeing it was enough, Elizabeth nodded to Alaric, who then had the two people drag Amy away. Amy struggled, pleading with Orlando and Percy, but they both had cold expressions. Desperate, she turned to Rebecca, hoping she'd save her.
Rebecca ignored her and found it kind of funny that she was always the last resort. Seeing Amy like this didn't affect her; she had no intention of feeling sorry for her. After all, Amy brought this on herself.
Even now, Amy was still protecting Ethan. Since she chose him and ditched everyone else, she had to deal with the fallout. Rebecca had seen through it all since she was a kid. She didn't care, so she wouldn't get hurt like Eugene.
When Rebecca turned away, the last bit of hope in Amy's eyes shattered. She let the two people drag her off, cursing Orlando and Percy the whole way, as if that would make her feel any better.
After Amy was taken away, Elizabeth and the Baker family exchanged a few words and then headed back to the special department.
Once everyone left, Percy turned to Orlando. "Mr. Baker, I'll resign after I finish my current tasks."
Orlando knew Percy was a victim too and didn't blame him. He reassured him, "No rush, I know you're a good kid." Percy was just unlucky to have such parents. What a shame.
Deep down, Percy wished Orlando was his real dad. But with Ethan and Amy in the mix, that was never gonna happen. Percy thought for a moment and said, "We need to handle the online stuff too. I'll post on Facebook, saying I'm the child of my mom's affair with another man. I'm not a blood relative of the Baker family. I'll cut ties with the Bakers and leave the family and the corporation."
This would explain why Orlando hadn't married Amy back then and help the Baker family get out of a bad spot. Besides wanting to mess with Ethan, Percy also wanted to repay the Bakers for raising him. Over the years, it was the Baker family who took care of him, not Amy.
Orlando didn't expect Percy to make such a choice. He frowned. "You don't have to do that. I'll handle the online stuff and Amy's issues."
If Percy did this, it would still impact his reputation. No matter what, Percy was a kid he had raised. Orlando still hoped that even if Percy left the family, he'd have a good future.
But Percy shook his head firmly. "No, I've already decided. I want to completely cut ties with them and say goodbye to the past. This way, I won't be part of the Baker family anymore. Ethan won't be able to use me to try to take the Baker family's Generational Blessings."
Even if he died, he wouldn't let Ethan use him to take the Baker family's Generational Blessings. Elizabeth's fierce retaliation had left him exhilarated. So, he couldn't resist the urge to be bold for once and directly confront Ethan to break his plans.
He added, "I've felt really tired these years. After resigning from the Baker Corporation, I want to travel and rest. Don't worry about me. The online stuff will die down after a while. Once things are resolved, people will soon forget and stop talking about it." He was truly mentally and physically exhausted.
Orlando could see Percy's seriousness and determination this time. He felt sad and hugged Percy. He said gently, "Alright, I respect your choice. Even if you leave the Baker family, you can always come to me if you need anything. No matter what you think, in my heart, you're my son."
Percy's eyes reddened, and he hugged Orlando back. "Dad, thank you!" Since he had sought out Orlando for cooperation in his youth, over the years, Orlando had been nurturing him, teaching him many things, and occasionally showing concern. In Percy's heart, there had always been only one father.
Then, Percy let go of Orlando, nodded to Rebecca, and turned to leave.
Orlando sighed, and Rebecca's eyes couldn't help but redden.
