Chapter 292 Will She Be Willing?
Enrique glanced at Brenda and felt a sharp sting in his chest. He wanted to trust her, but that ship had sailed. Borrowing Generational Blessings had rules, and she was just messing around when he agreed, so it shouldn't have worked. Did she really not know? If she didn't, why ask to borrow them? And why give him the bracelet right before his reality show debut, when his luck was in the gutter? He was seriously bummed out.
After a beat, he said, "If you say you don't know, then fine."
Seeing Brenda like this, he knew pushing her wouldn't get him anywhere. He'd given her the Generational Blessings willingly before, so he figured he was just unlucky. But there wouldn't be a next time.
Brenda, eyes red, grabbed Enrique's arm, saying, "Enrique, I swear I didn't know. After the show, let's find that person together, and you'll see."
Enrique nodded. He wanted to see who had taught Brenda to mess with him like this.
Kevin was dumbfounded. He couldn't help but say, "Enrique, you buying this?"
Enrique shot Kevin a look. "None of your business."
What could he do now? He'd chosen to lend his luck to Brenda before, so he had to roll with it, even if it sucked. In front of Elizabeth and everyone else, could he back out?
Kevin looked at Enrique like he was an idiot, saying, "Fine, you'll be the one regretting later."
Enrique felt hopeless. He ignored Kevin and looked at Zachary, asking, "Mr. Murphey, you said my situation is tough to fix. Does that mean it can still be fixed?"
Zachary nodded. "It can be, but it's not easy. And there's one really tough part."
Enrique asked, "What's the toughest part?"
Zachary replied, "You need the consent of those who got your Generational Blessings to give them back. Would she be willing? If she is, I can help you both transfer them back." Zachary emphasized, "But if she gives them back, she'll have to deal with your bad luck."
Brenda's face changed. She didn't want to give the Generational Blessings back or be unlucky. But in front of everyone, and Enrique, she couldn't refuse. She asked, "Can it really be done this way? Then I'm willing. As long as Enrique doesn't have to be so unlucky, I don't mind."
She looked at Enrique with a fragile smile, saying, "Enrique, I'm willing to do it for you."
Hearing her say this, Enrique's heart softened a bit. Maybe Brenda really didn't know about his bad luck.
Raymond clapped his hands, saying, "Such deep sibling love, it's making me tear up. One willingly gave a third of his Generational Blessings. And one is willing to return them, even if it means being unlucky. You guys are the perfect siblings; your bond is truly touching!"
Enrique and Brenda were silent; his words felt off. And since when did Raymond say nice things? It felt like something was up.
Enrique looked at Raymond and asked, "What are you getting at?"
Raymond blinked and said, "I'm just touched by your sibling love. Let's get this show on the road; I'm dying to see how you return borrowed Generational Blessings. Bet everyone watching the live stream is just as curious."
Brenda looked so fake. She was all about showing concern for Enrique to sway the audience.
But he figured she wouldn't give the Generational Blessings back now. After the show, she'd probably come up with a million excuses. What could Enrique do then? So he had to call her out. He wanted to see how long Brenda could keep up her act.
Elizabeth chimed in, "I've never seen this done before; I want to see."
Others echoed, "Yeah, we're curious too; let's see it."
Kevin looked at Enrique and asked, "Enrique, since Brenda's willing to return the Generational Blessings, what's the holdup? Just ask Zachary to get things rolling."
From what he knew of Brenda, she was just playing Enrique. Whether she'd actually return them later was anyone's guess.
Enrique looked at Brenda, torn, and asked, "Brenda, what do you think?"
If Brenda gave the Generational Blessings back, she'd be super unlucky, and he couldn't stand that. But if she didn't, he'd be the one suffering.
Brenda's face tightened, and she cursed Raymond in her head. Raymond always had to mess things up for her. If he ever fell for her, she'd make him regret it.
"Doing this on a live stream isn't cool. How about we ask Zachary for help after the show?" she suggested, hoping to buy time.
Arthur cut in, "It's fine; I just checked with the special department and the divination association, and they said it's okay. It can also serve as a warning to everyone."
Brenda was fuming inside; everyone was against her today. She looked pitifully at Enrique and asked, "Enrique, should I return them now? But if I get unlucky during the show, you have to protect me."
She gave a bitter smile, adding, "I was so unlucky in the last show, and it looks like this one will be the same." She was trying to tug at Enrique's heartstrings. He wouldn't want to see her suffer, right?
Sure enough, Enrique looked even more conflicted. "How about we resolve it after the show?" he suggested.
Kevin was so frustrated with Enrique that he wanted to shake some sense into him. He exclaimed, "Enrique, this is Brenda's wish; how can you refuse?"
Enrique said reluctantly, "But if Brenda returns the Generational Blessings now, she'll be unlucky. How can she continue the show?"
Raymond jumped in, "That's easy! Just give her the divination tool you're wearing. It suppresses bad luck for you; it will for her too."
Enrique pursed his lips and said, "But wearing the bracelet will make the bad luck worse."
Raymond raised an eyebrow. "If it makes you worse, why not her? This bracelet was a gift from her to you. Maybe her friend can help her not get worse." Enrique was still hung up on pitying Brenda and their relationship; he must be nuts.
Kevin agreed, "Yeah, now's the best time. Zachary might be busy next week and not have time to help. It's better to resolve this sooner."
They could only hope Enrique would wise up. They'd helped him so much; if he still acted foolishly, they wouldn't bother anymore.
