Chapter 191 How Will You Know If You Don't Try?

Brenda called Piper, and she quickly picked up.

Her voice was gentle and concerned as she asked, "Brenda, are you okay? I saw you got hurt during the live streaming, and I was really worried about you. But your phone was confiscated, and I couldn't reach you.

When Brenda heard these words, her cold expression softened a lot.

"Mom, I got my phone back because I can't continue recording the live stream due to my injury. Samuel came to see me. My injury isn't too serious; I just need to rest for a while."

Piper seemed relieved. "Glad to hear that. I was so worried. Not knowing your situation, we even sent Natalie abroad under the pretense of participating in the variety show to take care of you."

Brenda was stunned. "Was it your idea for Natalie to become a temporary guest to take care of me?"

Piper replied, "Yes."

Brenda asked, "Who arranged it for her?"

Getting a spot as a temporary guest on this show wasn't that simple.

"Your Uncle Ethan helped. He was worried about you too, so he sent Natalie to take care of you," Piper said.

Brenda knew that Ethan Sanders, whom Piper mentioned, was a wealthy, powerful, and mysterious man.

He and Piper were once lovers, but their relationship did not lead to a lasting partnership.

However, they still had lingering feelings, so he treated the three siblings very well.

The reason she could be adopted by the Clark family was also because of Ethan's help.

But over the years, she had never met him in person.

All the questions she had initially intended to ask remained unspoken.

Since Brenda went to the Clark family, Piper had been secretly good to her, going above and beyond to offer greater care to Natalie.

Over the years, they had never lost contact.

Therefore, she would still voluntarily give Piper a lot of money every year.

Of course, the Clark family was unaware of this.

They never knew Brenda had such close and frequent contact with her biological family behind their backs.

"I knew you and Uncle Ethan loved me the most." She then pretended to speak ill of Natalie sadly, "But Natalie only knows how to perform on variety shows. She hasn't even come to the hospital to see me."

She sighed, "Let alone take care of me."

Sure enough, Piper, on the other end, got angry. "Natalie is really too much. She sent me a message after getting a new phone. I'll call her and scold her. Let her come to the hospital to see you."

Brenda's eyes gleamed with satisfaction, and she said cutely, "Thank you, Mom!"

They talked for a few more minutes before hanging up.

Brenda didn't know that her call with the unknown number was automatically recorded and sent to a designated email.

However, the recording and email-sending records were automatically deleted after being sent.

On the other side, Elizabeth's and Nancy's groups finished eating and went to an internet cafe to practice gaming.

Eugene's group finished dinner and returned to their hotel.

At the hotel entrance, Eugene asked Arnold and Kevin, "Are you going to the bar to perform tonight?"

Once he sat quietly in the hotel, his mind was filled with memories of the good times with Elizabeth.

The more he reminisced, the more heart-wrenching and lonely he felt.

So he didn't want to be alone and planned to go sing for drinks again.

Kevin said, "Sure, we don't have anything else to do anyway."

They couldn't download game apps on their phones, so it was boring to stay alone.

Arnold shook his head. "My throat is inflamed and hurts a lot. I can't go."

After yesterday's hangover, his throat was not only very hoarse but also very painful.

Kevin was speechless. "I told you not to drink, but you insisted. Did you take the medicine I had bought for you?"

Arnold said, "Yes. I took it twice today, but it didn't help."

He thought for a moment and asked, "Do you think if I ask Elizabeth to make some throat-soothing candies for me, she would agree?"

Kevin raised an eyebrow. "In your dreams."

Arnold didn't even have this bit of self-awareness.

Arnold replied, "I'm not asking her for help for free. Maybe it could even ease the tension between us."

The more he thought about the past, the more guilty he felt.

If Elizabeth hadn't proven she didn't harm anyone and that it was Brenda's fault, he would have ruined her reputation in the live streaming due to a moment of impulsiveness.

Kevin rolled his eyes. "Arnold, I just want to say one thing to you."

Arnold asked inexplicably, "What?"

Kevin bluntly said, "How can you be so shameless?"

He had rushed to question Elizabeth for Brenda before, and now he wanted to ease the relationship. He thought Arnold was shameless.

Arnold was silent. This was Kevin, always making him feel bad.

"How would you know if you don't try?" He added, "Elizabeth has always had a soft heart."

His throat really couldn't take it anymore. He barely spoke when he was a tour guide this afternoon.

Now, swallowing and speaking both hurt his throat.

This was an old problem. He knew going to the hospital wouldn't help; the medicine's effect was too slow.

He missed Elizabeth's throat-soothing candies immensely.

Kevin sighed, "She had a soft heart for the old us."

Now Elizabeth wasn't soft-hearted towards them; she was quite ruthless.

"Last time I had diarrhea and asked her for medicine, she didn't even respond."

He said this to make Arnold give up.

However, Arnold said, "That's you. Maybe she'll be different with me."

Kevin looked at him speechlessly. "Where do you get this confidence?"

Arnold didn't like Kevin's skepticism. "How would you know if you don't try? Besides, what's the point of going to the bar every day? We could go to the internet cafe too!"

He didn't want to go to the bar but wanted to go to the Internet cafe, so he planned to drag the others along.

He didn't want to admit that he felt a bit guilty facing Elizabeth alone.

Kevin, hearing this, said, "Alright."

Drinking every day was also hard on his stomach.

He missed Elizabeth's porridge.

If Arnold could really soften Elizabeth's heart, maybe she would treat him better too.

From the previous events, he had realized something.

They might have misunderstood Elizabeth because of Brenda's instigation and hints.

Saying he didn't feel guilty would be a lie, but he didn't know how to make amends and restore their sibling relationship.

He asked Eugene, "Eugene, how about going to the Internet cafe?"

Eugene nodded without hesitation. "Sure, I'll go with you guys."

Although Elizabeth didn't forgive him, going to the Internet cafe to see her and feel her presence was also good.

After discussing, the three remembered they had added a teammate to their group.

Then they all looked at Natalie, who was standing not far away. "What about you? Want to go to the internet cafe with us?"

Natalie smiled and said, "Sure, I'll go too."

So the four of them went back to their rooms to rest, agreeing to meet in the hotel lobby in half an hour.

Natalie returned to her room, and just as she changed her clothes, her phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, she frowned.

But she still picked up. "Mom!"

Piper asked sternly, "Why haven't you gone to see Brenda?"

When Natalie heard this question, her face showed a bit of sarcasm.

Since Brenda went to the Clark family and reportedly looked more and more like Ethan, Piper's attitude towards her had changed significantly.

She treated Brenda like a treasure, while often overlooking Natalie.

She also believed Brenda could help Ethan, while Natalie was of no use.

But Natalie knew how to handle Piper.
