Chapter 443 You Were a Joke
Amy's thoughts were as shameless as ever.
Orlando sneered, "Weren't you and your lover plotting against me from the start? From the moment we met, it was all a setup."
He continued, dripping with disdain, "Before, for the sake of the Baker Family, I had to put up with you. Did you really think you were so charming that you could make me lose my head over love?" If he had really lost his head over love, no matter how capable he was, Gary wouldn't have let him inherit the company.
Orlando's eyes were full of disgust as he added, "Amy, seeing you makes me sick. After Eugene and Rebecca were born, we stopped having sex. You thought it was because of your lover, but it's really because you disgust me. I'm glad we don't hook up anymore."
Seeing Amy's devastated look, Orlando felt a bit more satisfied. He had really had enough over the years. He declared, "From now on, you have nothing to do with anyone in my family. Enjoy your days in the special department prison. When you get out, go back to your family that you care so much about."
If Amy got out of prison, he wouldn't lift a finger. He enjoyed watching her self-destruct. Her whole family were troublemakers, and she was no exception.
Amy trembled with anger and collapsed to the ground. Tears streamed down her face, genuine this time, as she was in utter disbelief. She had always thought Orlando's husband loved her more than anything. But it turned out to be all lies. Even though she didn't love him, she had hoped to be his greatest love. So she simply couldn't accept this reality.
She suddenly glared at Elizabeth and shouted, "Did you cast a spell on Orlando to make him like this?"
Elizabeth rolled her eyes and shot back, "You already know the truth in your heart, so why make excuses? People like you always blame others for everything. If you hadn't plotted against Mr. Baker, how would you have ended up like this today? You should blame yourself! Do you think you can cheat on Mr. Baker and still have him be devoted to you? Why don't you look in the mirror? Do you deserve it?"
Orlando couldn't agree more. He chimed in, "Yeah, sometimes I can't understand where you get such confidence, Amy. Do you really think every man would fall for you?"
He added, "When you get to prison, look in the mirror more often and see yourself clearly."
Amy still couldn't accept that the Orlando who loved her so much would suddenly be so heartless. She cried and tried to grab Orlando's leg. "No, you can't do this to me."
Orlando quickly stepped back to avoid her. He said coldly, "This is the punishment you deserve. Stop struggling."
Amy looked up into his cold, indifferent eyes, feeling like a bucket of cold water had been poured over her. Why was it all a lie? Why didn't Orlando love her anymore?
Seeing this, Alaric signaled for two people to grab Amy. Each of them took one of Amy's arms and pulled her up from the ground. Alaric stated, "Amy, you are under arrest. Come with us to the special department for interrogation."
Amy struggled and shouted, "No, I don't want to go to the special department."
She looked at Orlando with what she thought was her most charming and pitiful expression, begging him to save her.
But Orlando didn't budge, his face showing nothing but disdain.
Amy had no choice but to turn to Percy. She yelled, "Percy, I did all this for you. You have to save me!"
Percy looked at her with mockery. He said coldly, "For me? Wasn't I just a pawn in your game? A tool to keep your lover happy and grab the Baker family's fortune. Today, I'm done with you. I never saw that coward as my dad, and I never saw you, a selfish woman, as my mom."
He continued, his voice bitter. "When I was a kid, you'd give me cold baths on purpose just so you could go out and meet that man for a few days. I remember every single time you made me sick and sent me to the hospital, leaving me with the servants. To you, I was always someone you could use and then toss aside. You probably knew I wouldn't live long, so you never truly cared. That motherly love was all an act."
He sneered. "With your acting skills, you can only fool yourself."
Amy looked up at Percy in disbelief. She was speechless. After all, when Percy was a child, she had indeed used him for many things. She just hadn't expected him to remember everything and never show it.
Her last bit of hope was gone. She couldn't accept these facts and completely broke down. She cried and screamed, "You are all wolves in sheep's clothing. You are too cruel."
Percy mocked. "Compared to you and your lover, we're nothing!"
He sighed and continued, "Honestly, among all the people around you, the only one who truly treated you well and considered you family was Eugene. But what did you do? You pushed away the only person who truly cared about you. This is the punishment you deserve!" Since Amy insisted on coming to be scolded, he didn't mind giving her another blow.
Eugene, who was standing nearby, stayed silent. Could he admit that he didn't want to be the only one who truly cared? Amy hadn't fooled anyone but him, making him feel like the only fool in the family, which was really uncomfortable.
Hearing this, Amy suddenly looked at Eugene. Yes, she still had Eugene. She struggled and lunged at Eugene, crying, "Eugene, please save me. I love you the most. As long as you don't let them take me away, we can move out, and I'll take good care of you."
Eugene immediately stepped back with a bitter smile. "I was foolish before. Do you think I'll fall for it again? And wrong is wrong. We've already cut ties. Even if you truly repent, I can't forgive you, and our mother-son relationship can't be fixed."
At this moment, he suddenly understood why Elizabeth was so resolute. His heart was filled with bitterness. Amy had done so much, but in the end, it was all for nothing. He was the same. In his pursuit of Amy's motherly love, he had lost his beloved Elizabeth. But in the end, the motherly love was the most fake.
He closed his eyes and said calmly, "From beginning to end, you were a joke. So was I. We shouldn't see each other anymore. Let's not meet or contact each other again. Just pretend you never gave birth to me. After all, you never raised me."
With Amy's personality, Eugene couldn't give her any hope, or she would cling to him in the future. If she had been a good mother, he would have taken on the duty and responsibility of caring for her no matter what. But now, it was better not to meet or contact each other again.
