Chapter 81 This is Truly Unbearable

Herman walked into the company and spotted a familiar figure ahead.

He froze. Wasn't that his wife, Helen Hill?

She said she was working late on a shoot. What was she doing here?

He almost called out but remembered what Elizabeth had said and held back.

He followed her slowly.

Watching Helen enter the elevator, he waited to see it stop on the fifth floor.

Herman hesitated, then pressed the button for the fifth floor.

His office was there; was she looking for him?

That didn't make sense!

He'd been picking up their kid after work lately, and she knew that.

Suspicious, he got off on the fifth floor and checked his office. No one was there.

He wandered around the floor.

Ten minutes later, he reached the office of the newly promoted director, Alvin Weaver.

The lights were on, and he heard voices inside.

He walked over quietly.

The door was ajar, so he leaned in to listen.

"You were really off today. You just finished like that?"

Hearing Helen's voice, Herman's face turned green.

He resisted the urge to kick the door open, took out his phone, and started recording.

Then Alvin's voice came through.

"It's hard to perform well in the office. Let's change places later, and I'll show you what I can do. I'm definitely better than Herman, right?"

Helen said, "Of course, you're much better than him. When can I finally divorce him? I can barely stand looking at his old face every day. And his son, always pestering me to take him to the amusement park every week. It's driving me crazy."

Alvin said, "Baby, just hang in there a bit longer. You've already endured for two years; a little more time won't hurt."

Helen said, "But my patience is really running out."

Alvin said, "As long as you can get the information he has, we can almost call it quits. Then we can even pay a woman to set him up, and you can catch him in the act. If he cheats first, he's at fault. Not only will you have a reason to divorce, but you can also demand a large portion of the assets."

Alvin added, "Herman has been a director for so many years, and you said he occasionally takes on private work. He must have a lot of money."

Helen said, "If it weren't for helping you, who would care about his money? But my youth has been wasted for two years; he definitely owes me."

Then she said, "Didn't I help you by making him have two major mistakes, leading to his demotion? You're already the new director, so why do you still need the information he has? It's not easy to get. I've asked him several times for the password to his laptop at home, but he hasn't told me."

Alvin said, "You don't understand. He's been in the company for many years, and the information he has is very important. There are a lot of resources in there that are crucial for my further advancement. So, baby, whether you can get divorced soon depends on whether you can get that information quickly."

Helen said, "How about I do what I did the last two times and put sleeping pills in his drink? Then I'll steal the laptop, you guys unlock it, copy the information secretly, and I'll put it back?"

Alvin replied, "That's also a way. In a few days, have a candlelight dinner with him, get him drunk, and then give him the water with sleeping pills. That way, he'll sleep longer and won't suspect anything, thinking it's just because he got drunk."

Helen replied, "Alright, it's decided then."

Alvin continued, "Once it's done, I'll ask Mr. Richard Clark to help you debut and make you famous."

Helen said, "Does Richard Clark know about this?"

Alvin replied, "Of course. Otherwise, how could I have gotten Herman demoted and myself promoted so smoothly?"

"The Clark brothers both want to get rid of the people left by the previous president. And Herman offended Mr. Richard shortly after he joined the company. If he doesn't go, who will?" he smirked.

"But Herman has always been stable, having been in the company for years. If he doesn't make mistakes, Loren Clark can't easily replace him. So we had to make him mess up." Alvin concluded, "Once we get the information he has, Richard can make him and his team leave."

Helen replied, "I see. Two years ago, you had me get close to him, win over his son and mother, and make him marry me. Did Mr. Richard know about that too?"

Alvin said, "Yes, it was Richard who found out that Herman cares most about his mother and son's opinions, so I had you start from there to win him over."

Helen said, "You guys really have patience."

Alvin proudly said, "Of course, we're people who do big things. Let's go, let's change places."

Helen said, "Alright, I also want to see how good you can perform today."

Hearing this, Herman's face darkened.

He didn't kick the door open but took a deep breath, saved the recording, and quietly walked away.

Rushing in now would only result in beating them up, but it would also alert them.

He didn't leave the company but returned to his office.

He didn't turn on the lights but turned on his computer.

He copied all the useful information from his computer. A storm of anger and sorrow clouded his features as he worked.

He really hadn't expected that Helen was deliberately placed by Alvin by his side.

His former wife had tragically passed away in an accident years ago, leaving behind a son. Initially, he had no intention of getting remarried.

Two years back, Helen was reassigned as his assistant, a young, stunning woman who showed remarkable care and consideration for him. What truly resonated was her warmth towards his mother and son, regularly taking his boy out for fun outings.

Professing adoration for him, Helen's actions gradually melted his heart, especially as his family embraced her. Their bond solidified, and eventually, they tied the knot.

As time passed, however, a series of inexplicable oversleeping incidents led to professional setbacks, including crucial meeting misses and PR crisis neglect, leading to his demotion. Perplexed by these slips, he never fathomed they were orchestrated by Helen. More surprising, Richard and Loren, in cahoots with Alvin, engineered these mishaps to sabotage him covertly.

The most outrageous thing was that these two even planned to make him the at-fault party in the divorce and take most of his assets.

At this moment, besides feeling heartbroken, Herman was filled with anger and hatred for being played.

He suddenly remembered something Elizabeth had said during the day.

"If it were me, I would make them pay."

At the time, he didn't understand why she said that.

Now, he not only understood but also fully empathized.

He couldn't swallow this anger.

Being schemed against like this, he also wanted to make them pay.

At the same time, he was amazed by Elizabeth's insight. 'Has she already foreseen all this?'

Seeing the data on the computer being copied, he deleted everything.

He also set it so it couldn't be recovered, so no one could get it in the future.

After sitting for a while, he got up, left the company, and returned to his car.

He didn't start the car immediately but thought deeply for a while.

Then he took out his phone and dialed the number he had just found on the computer for Elizabeth.
