Chapter 287 You Talk As If You Deserve It
Natalie could totally handle the Soule competition; Elbert, Ronald, and Marlon? Not so much.
But those three were all hyped, saying they'd be there to cheer them on.
Zachary grinned and said, "Sweet, we've got six people, enough for a team. If we snag first place, with the bank's exchange rate, we can score a $15,000 prize. Split three ways, that's $5000 per group."
Elizabeth beamed and said, "Let's hustle and grab that first place."
Playing ball with Brenda and Enrique might be kinda gross, but it was a good chance to test things out.
She had this gut feeling that Zachary was pulling their strings. She wanted to figure out his game, so going along with him seemed like the only play.
Everyone ordered a dish this time.
They chatted about the cool stuff they saw in Aevum City while munching.
Elizabeth also shared some funny stories she heard from the girls while doing makeup in Aevum City. While talking, she kept an eye on Zachary.
She noticed that since they started eating, he hadn't said a peep. His table manners were on point, and he had this noble vibe going on.
He must be used to that high-class etiquette.
It wasn't like the current rich folks. It was more like how ancient noble dudes dined.
Even his after-meal habits were the same. It made her even more curious. She thought, 'Is this something he worked on from a young age, or is it just in his DNA?'
It felt more like the latter.
The viewers watching the live stream were all pumped.
[Zachary's so good-looking, I ate more just watching him.]
[Zachary's looks, his vibe, and his classy dining manners really got me.]
[Zachary's so handsome, especially in that white robe, pure elegance.]
[This is real class; I wonder if Brenda feels awkward sitting there.]
[If she's not awkward, someone else is.]
[Zachary really lives up to being Elizabeth's senior, his looks and vibe are on point.]
[Zachary, get into the entertainment biz.]
[I wonder if Raymond feels any pressure.]
[Raymond, go for it; even though Zachary's good-looking, I still believe in you more.]
[Too bad we can't watch Zachary take Elizabeth and the others to the market tonight.]
[I'm in Aevum City too; I'll go check it out and live text their situation for you guys.]
[Sis, we're counting on you; go for it.]
[We're counting on you, sis.]
With Enrique and Brenda's fans not causing trouble, the live stream chat was buzzing.
After Elizabeth and the crew finished eating, the owner even gave them a discount.
After paying, they went to find a hotel.
Since Zachary knew Aevum City well, he took them to a hotel with a good vibe and decent prices. A room was only $90, so Elizabeth booked four rooms.
The other two groups, after paying for the meal, had just enough cash for each person to get their own room.
All three groups stayed in the same hotel.
The night market didn't kick off until ten, and it was just a little after eight, so they had time to kill.
There was a coffee shop on the first floor of the hotel, so the crew headed there for some coffee.
Elizabeth plopped down first.
Raymond squeezed in, aiming to sit next to Elizabeth, and snagged the spot on her left.
Zachary quickly claimed the seat on her right, beating Eugene to it.
Kevin and Eugene just stood there, thinking, 'These two jerks.'
They had no choice; just as they were about to take the two empty seats next to Zachary, Brenda swooped in and grabbed one.
Enrique, out of habit, sat next to Brenda.
Initially, they didn't want to sit with Raymond. But now, Kevin and Eugene wanted to steer clear of those two. So, reluctantly, they sat next to Raymond.
Raymond shot them a disdainful look.
Kevin, feeling annoyed, asked, "Shouldn't you be sitting with your group?"
Raymond raised an eyebrow and said bluntly, "Mind your own business; I just want to sit next to Elizabeth. Got a problem with that?"
Kevin paused and said, "Yeah, I think we should sit with our group."
That way, if he sat next to Elizabeth, he could follow Raymond's lead and pour her coffee and stuff.
Raymond sneered, "Even if you have a problem, I don't care."
Kevin thought, 'Raymond is such a jerk.'
Elizabeth chimed in, "We're just chatting; it doesn't matter how we sit." She then bluntly added, "Besides, I don't want to sit with you guys."
Kevin and Eugene felt hurt but had to accept it.
Enrique sneered, "You two deserve it."
Trying to get close to Elizabeth, but she didn't even notice them.
Kevin found Enrique increasingly annoying. He sneered, "Fine, I just can't wait to see if you'll still be laughing in a few days."
He had a feeling Enrique would hit a rough patch soon, especially with Brenda around.
Enrique found Kevin annoying too and said, "I'll definitely still be laughing." He then mocked, "But you guys, being suck-ups, Elizabeth despises you."
In the recording, Elizabeth called them all Brenda's suck-ups. But now, Kevin and Eugene were her suck-ups. They were lowering themselves like this didn't feel shameful, but he felt ashamed for them.
Kevin and Eugene's faces darkened.
Kevin sneered, "I'm good where I'm at. By the time you get everything, it'll be too late to start sucking up."
With Enrique's annoying attitude, when he hits bad luck, Elizabeth definitely won't help. Now he actually despises them for trying to get close to Elizabeth. He was just waiting to see Enrique beg Elizabeth.
Eugene sneered, "He doesn't deserve it."
Eugene thought that Enrique was completely losing his mind.
Raymond spoke up, "As if you guys deserve it either."
None of these three were good people; none of them deserved to get close to Elizabeth. As for suck-ups, Elizabeth neither valued nor needed them.
For once, Enrique found Raymond's words agreeable. He said to Eugene and Kevin, "Exactly, as if you guys deserve it either."
Kevin and Eugene went silent.
That fool Enrique, Raymond was insulting them all together, and he actually joined in.
