Chapter 484 I Don't Believe It
The three of them pushed the door open and walked in.
Hubert snapped out of his daze and looked at them. Angela, lying on the ground, endured the pain and glanced at them, her eyes narrowing. She looked at Elizabeth with hatred in her eyes. "Elizabeth, it's you who ruined me."
Earlier, she had suspected that something went wrong with the poison bug, but now seeing Elizabeth, she was certain. Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "You're wrong. I didn't ruin you; you brought this upon yourself and faced the backlash."
She ignored Angela and turned to Hubert, "Are you feeling better now?"
Hubert's voice was weak. "Much better. Earlier, it felt like I was completely out of control."
He glanced at Angela with disgust. "I didn't expect her to be so vicious."
Although he had been unconscious, his mind was clear, and he could hear everything said around him. He knew that if he were completely controlled by the poison bug, he would become Angela's puppet.
Elizabeth sneered. "You brought this on yourself. Keeping someone with ill intentions by your side was your own decision and choice. When you used her, you should have been prepared for her backlash."
She didn't particularly dislike Hubert, though he was quite cunning; she just didn't like him much. Hubert hadn't expected Elizabeth's response. He offered a bitter smile. "Indeed, I brought this trouble on myself. I was too confident, thinking I had everything in hand."
He looked at Elizabeth and said gratefully, "Thank you for what you did today."
Elizabeth replied, her voice indifferent. "I'm from Special Department. When I encounter such things, it's my duty to handle them. You've passed the biggest calamity in your life. I've dealt with Angela and Ethan. If you have any issues in the future, don't come to me. Our cooperation is over."
This made Eugene and Richard feel uncomfortable. Elizabeth meant that she didn't want to have any further contact with them. Hubert was also momentarily lost. He couldn't help but ask, "When you go back, will you tell Rebecca about this?"
He hadn't contacted Rebecca for the past ten days, fearing she might misunderstand his relationship with Angela.
Elizabeth's eyes showed a hint of amusement. She snorted, "You might be overestimating your current status in Rebecca's heart."
She took out her phone and showed Hubert two videos. "Rebecca is on vacation with her boyfriend, having a great time. She doesn't have the time or energy to care about your affairs," she said.
Rebecca had told Elizabeth that she didn't plan to get married, but she would date attractive and likable men. In the future, she would focus on her career, and relationships would become a form of entertainment for her. Of course, Rebecca made it clear to each of her boyfriends that they were together for fun, but they shouldn't expect any emotional commitment. Her boyfriend agreed, so Rebecca took him on vacation.
Seeing the video of his beloved Rebecca kissing a young man, Hubert was completely stunned. His heart ached so much that he couldn't breathe. He shook his head in disbelief, "This can't be. Rebecca can't possibly like this kind of man." It was obvious that the young man wasn't the type Rebecca liked.
Elizabeth laughed. "Tastes change. Where do you get the confidence that Rebecca would only like you and wait for you?"
She added bluntly, "A young man who can be sweet and charming is much better than a scheming bad guy like you."
Just like Elizabeth used to like Eugene, who was proud and not very good at sweet-talking, often making her accommodate him. In the past, she liked that type a lot, but now she was tired of it. A sweet-talking, handsome man who accommodated her was now her type. She had completely cut off her feelings for Eugene, just as Rebecca had for Hubert.
Hubert was deeply hurt by her words. He shook his head again and said firmly, "I don't believe it."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Believe it or not. I have things to do, so I'm leaving. Don't contact me again."
With that, she picked up her bag and left without hesitation. After Elizabeth left, Eugene looked at her departing figure, lost in thought. After a moment, he murmured, "Was she also talking about herself?"
Richard glanced at the equally devastated Eugene and said, "Isn't that obvious? She meant that just as Rebecca has changed her type, so has she."
He put his arm around Eugene's shoulder and sighed, "Eugene, she really has no feelings or interest in you anymore. Even I can see that, so you should give up. Elizabeth has changed her type and no longer likes someone like you."
Eugene brushed his hand away and shot back, "If you don't speak, no one will think you're mute."
Richard had to point out the truth, making Eugene's heart feel like it was being pricked by needles. But despite everything, he still held a glimmer of hope in his heart. As long as Elizabeth didn't have a new boyfriend, he wouldn't give up.
At this moment, Hubert spoke. "Eugene, can you call Rebecca for me? Tell her I was unconscious and ask if she can come to see me." His number was blocked by Rebecca.
Eugene, seeing Hubert like this, couldn't help but think of himself. He sighed. "Alright."
He called Rebecca and put it on speaker. Soon, Rebecca's voice came through. "What's up?"
Eugene said, "Hubert was poisoned by Angela and passed out. Can you come to the hospital to see him?"
Rebecca's voice came without hesitation. "I'm not a diviner; I can't cure him. Why should I see him? Besides, isn't this his own doing? I'm on vacation with my boyfriend and don't have the time or energy to deal with his affairs."
This made Hubert's face change. He couldn't help but speak. "Rebecca, you say you're with your boyfriend just to spite me, right?"
Rebecca sneered. "Hubert, weren't you unconscious? You woke up pretty quickly. I'm not like you, always scheming. I have a new boyfriend, and I quite like him. Believe it or not. And don't come bothering me again, or my boyfriend will get jealous."
She warned, "Eugene, you're interrupting my date. There's no possibility between Hubert and me, so don't try to do anything. You self-centered bad men should get lost as far as possible. Elizabeth and I don't want to deal with you anymore. I'm blocking you now, so don't contact me again."
Then Rebecca hung up and really blocked Eugene's contact. This made both Eugene and Hubert's faces darken.
