Chapter 28
Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh at Kevin's antics.
Back in the day, whenever she was annoyed and ignored him, he'd pull the same stunt.
She used to think it was just sibling closeness, so she let it slide.
Now, she chuckled, "Kevin, it seems there’s something wrong with your brain."
Kevin stared at her, shocked, "What did you just say?"
He was trying to use this as an excuse to make up with her.
He didn't expect that even after giving her an out, she still wouldn't budge.
Elizabeth repeated, "I said there’s something wrong with your brain."
Kevin's voice rose, feeling deeply wronged, "My hands and feet sore, and you really don't care, do you?"
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, "That’s none of my business."
With that, she called Nancy and kept walking with the basin.
Kevin, left fuming, shouted, "Elizabeth, you're something else. I've got you figured out this time."
She wouldn't even care for him as her brother; she was getting more and more heartless.
Despite his harsh words, Kevin felt a pang of discomfort inside.
Elizabeth didn't stop or look back, "Good, go see a doctor."
Kevin fell silent.
When they returned after washing up, Nancy noticed Eugene standing where Kevin had been.
She turned to Elizabeth, "He's here to see you again, isn't he?"
She couldn't understand it.
Both Kevin and Eugene openly supported Brenda and opposed Elizabeth.
But secretly, they'd come to her to make peace.
Elizabeth's description seemed spot on; they must be brain-damaged.
Elizabeth was equally baffled; these two took turns showing up, were they nuts?
Before Eugene could say anything, she looked at him and said, "You should get your brain checked too."
Eugene fell silent, his face darkening. "My brain is perfectly fine."
Elizabeth pouted, "No, it isn’t."
Eugene suddenly laughed, "Feel better after scolding me? If you do, let's talk."
Elizabeth shook her head, "We're done; there's nothing to talk about."
Eugene frowned, "I don't want to hear that again."
He glanced at Nancy and then back at Elizabeth.
Lowering his voice, he said, "If you keep this up, I don't mind making our relationship public."
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, "You're just an ex. If you want to go public, be my guest."
Eugene was about to lose it, "I said, I don't agree to break up."
He never wanted to break up with Elizabeth, and he didn't agree to it.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, "I don't care if you agree or not; I've already dumped you."
Then she added impatiently, "You and Kevin are so annoying. Can you give me some peace?"
Eugene insisted, "Talk to me alone, and I'll give you peace."
He always felt that if he didn't clear things up with Elizabeth, they'd drift further apart.
Especially seeing Raymond getting closer to her, he felt a sense of crisis.
Elizabeth shook her head, "If you're here to make me delete the recording, then don’t bother."
Hearing this, Eugene's expression changed slightly.
He didn't expect Elizabeth to know that Brenda had come to him for help to make her delete the recording.
Elizabeth had been watching Eugene, and seeing his momentary change in expression, she found it even more amusing.
In the past, she might have felt terrible.
Fortunately, she no longer loved, liked, or hated him now.
"Eugene, I'm starting to agree with what Raymond said earlier. You must have a grudge against me."
Eugene took a deep breath, "I'm not just here for that."
He wanted to clear up the misunderstanding and reconcile with her.
Of course, he also wanted her to delete the recording, or at least not make it public.
She looked at Eugene coldly, "You really disgust me now."
Eugene's face changed again, "Elizabeth, stop it, will you?"
Why wouldn't she just calm down and have a proper conversation?
Why did she have to make things so awkward and say such hurtful things?
Elizabeth was most annoyed by the words "stop it."
"You're becoming more and more like the Clark family. If you're sick, go see a doctor. Don't come to me looking for attention." After saying that, she pulled Nancy and walked forward.
Eugene wanted to step forward and stop Elizabeth; today, he was determined to have a proper talk with her.
Just then, Raymond walked out from the side.
He approached them, seemingly ignoring Eugene.
He smiled at Elizabeth and asked, "Elizabeth, are we making breakfast ourselves tomorrow morning, or eating at a villager's house?"
Elizabeth smiled and asked back, "Is there anything you prefer?"
Raymond's eyes lit up, "Does that mean I can place an order?"
Elizabeth said, "Sure, as long as I can make it."
Raymond didn't hold back, "I want to have pizza."
Elizabeth indulged him, "Alright, I'll make pizza for you all tomorrow morning."
Raymond squeezed past Eugene, who was standing to the side, "Great, then call me tomorrow, and I'll get up early to help."
Elizabeth nodded at him, "Okay!"
She raised her hand and waved, "We're heading back to our room now. You should rest early too."
Raymond waved at the two of them, "Good night!"
Because he deliberately blocked the way, Eugene could only watch Elizabeth leave.
After seeing Elizabeth return to her room, he coldly looked at Raymond, "Raymond, meddling in other people's business is not a good habit."
Raymond raised an eyebrow, "Eugene, being clingy isn't a good one either. Elizabeth is disgusted by you, yet you still cling to her. How pathetic!"
He really hadn't meant to eavesdrop on their conversation.
He had just come out of the bathroom, and the three of them were standing right there.
What surprised him was that Elizabeth and Eugene had been together before.
He looked Eugene up and down; the guy had a bad vibe.
Luckily, Elizabeth had broken up with Eugene.
He couldn't understand it.
Eugene didn't seem to want to break up, so why was he standing against Elizabeth?
Anyone with half a brain could see that Elizabeth didn't like Brenda.
Eugene chose another woman over his girlfriend, so what right did he have to come back and ask for reconciliation?
Eugene's expression turned icy. "What goes on between Elizabeth and me is none of your concern."
Raymond, arms crossed defiantly, retorted, "I'll make it my concern. Bring it on!"
Elizabeth was his rescuer; naturally, he couldn't simply stand idly by and watch her endure this.
"You!" Eugene had never met someone so unreasonable and arrogant.
He frowned and looked at Raymond uncertainly, "Do you have some ulterior motive towards Elizabeth?"
Raymond didn't seem like the type to always stand up for a woman.
Raymond touched his chin and thought for a moment, then asked back, "She saved me, and I want to be with her. Is that an ulterior motive?"
Come to think of it, that didn't sound too bad.
Eugene's eyes grew colder, "Raymond, Elizabeth is not someone you can covet. Don’t even think about it."
He had wondered why Raymond had been helping Elizabeth and opposing Kevin and him since the show started.
It turned out Raymond had inappropriate thoughts about Elizabeth. How despicable!
Raymond sneered.
He even provocatively patted Eugene's shoulder, "That's none of your business, ex."
After saying that, he walked away, not wanting to continue talking to someone with a brain damage.
