Chapter 391 Who is She?

Zephyr quickly reached out a hand to her. Elizabeth had always been tight with him. He trusted her a lot.

Elizabeth grabbed Zephyr's wrist and used her energy to check him out. She started with his body and found nothing weird. Then she moved to his head. In the blood vessels of his brain, she found a hidden poisonous insect. If she wasn't already a high-level diviner, she would've missed it. This meant it was something only a high-level diviner could pull off.

She let go of Zephyr's wrist and asked seriously, "Zephyr, have you been in touch with anyone from Eldoria lately?"

Zephyr thought for a moment and said, "No, I haven't talked to any foreigners recently."

Elizabeth asked again, "Have you pissed anyone off lately?"

Zephyr shook his head. "No, I don't have big dreams, but I don't mess with people either. I have a lot of friends and no real enemies."

He was just a guy who liked to eat, drink, and have fun, but he stayed out of trouble. He usually hung out with friends who were into the same stuff. Their group was small, and they didn't mix much with others. No matter how hard he thought, he couldn't figure out who he might've offended.

Elizabeth knew that even though Zephyr wasn't ambitious, he was a good guy.

She then asked, "In the past few days, do you remember anyone bumping into you on purpose? Even if it seemed like an accident?" To plant such a poisonous insect, physical contact was necessary.

Zephyr thought for a moment and said, "There was one time. A few days ago, I went horseback riding. A woman dressed really weird, all wrapped up so I couldn't see her face, bumped into me hard. I almost fell off, and her voice sounded familiar, so I remembered it well." He asked nervously, "Elizabeth, what's wrong with me? Am I cursed?"

Elizabeth replied, "You're not cursed; there's a poisonous insect inside you."

Zephyr's eyes widened. "What, there's a poisonous insect inside me?" That sounded creepy and terrifying. "Could it be that woman who bumped into me? But I don't even know her!"

Elizabeth thought about the woman all wrapped up and Zephyr saying her voice sounded familiar. She couldn't help but think it might be Betty. Even though Betty didn't know about these things, Brenda had come back and could've given her some tips.

"When did you go to the horse ranch? Can you ask them to check the surveillance footage from when you got bumped?" If it was Betty, the footage would show it.

Zephyr said, "I remember the date. The horse ranch is owned by my friend's brother, so checking the footage won't be a problem."

Elizabeth said, "Then ask him to help check the footage of you getting bumped. And also the parking lot footage an hour before and after."

Zephyr nodded. "Okay!"

He then called his friend to help check the footage. About ten minutes later, Zephyr got the surveillance video. In the hospital room, there was a laptop Zephyr used to play games when he was bored. Elizabeth transferred the video to the laptop and opened it, starting with the footage of Zephyr getting bumped.

Sure enough, a woman wrapped up tightly came out from a corner. She saw Zephyr, quickly walked over, and bumped into him. From the surveillance angle, it was clear she did it on purpose. Then she apologized and left, looking flustered and guilty.

Elizabeth turned to Leon and Ruth, "Leon, Ruth, take a look. Does this woman seem familiar to you?" She rewound the video and played it again from the beginning.

Leon and Ruth had already watched it once. Hearing Elizabeth's words, they watched more carefully the second time.

After watching, Leon said, "This person is wrapped up too tightly; I can't tell who it is. The back does seem a bit familiar, but I can't figure out who it is."

Ruth added, "Yeah, it looks a bit familiar, but I can't recognize her."

Elizabeth knew that even if Betty's parents saw her dressed like that, they wouldn't recognize her. She then said, "I can tell who she is."

This made the four members of the Anderson family look at her in unison. With curiosity and inquiry, they asked, "Who is she?"

Elizabeth didn't intend to hide it. "Mrs. Clark, also known as Betty."

The four were stunned. Zephyr then reacted, "No wonder her voice sounded familiar; it was Betty. Why did she bump into me?" He looked confused. "Could she have planted the poisonous insect on me?"

Because of Elizabeth's words, Leon also felt that the woman's figure did resemble Betty, but he couldn't believe that Betty would harm his son. "Elizabeth, is she really Betty?" he asked.

Elizabeth nodded. "Yes, I'm sure."

Then she opened the parking lot footage on the laptop. After quickly browsing through it, she found something. She rewound and slowed down the footage, zooming in on the frame. "Look, this woman got out of this car. And the person in the driver's seat didn't get out; you should recognize who she is."

The group leaned in to look. "Isn't that Brenda?"

Soren noticed something else and said, "Look at Brenda's mouth; she's calling the wrapped-up woman 'Mom.'"

With that, the other three watched closely and noticed it too. Ruth was also puzzled. Although her relationship with Betty was average, there was no significant conflict.

"Why would Betty harm Zephyr?" she asked.

With a mother's intuition, she knew that the poisonous insect on Zephyr was definitely Betty's doing. Otherwise, why would she dress like that, deliberately bump into Zephyr, and not dare to reveal her identity? Betty's departure after the bump looked guilty. But she couldn't understand why Betty would harm Zephyr.

Elizabeth had the answer. She said, "She probably didn't intend to harm Zephyr. She just wanted to transfer the poisonous insect to Zephyr for her own sake."

Elizabeth was surprised by Betty's actions, but after thinking it over, she found it unexpected yet reasonable.
