Chapter 86 She Really Dared
Richard clicked through and saw a message from Elizabeth.
Elizabeth: [You said you'd give me the best contract in the industry?]
Richard: [Yeah! Did you see the contract I sent? Weren't you dismissive before? Now you want it?]
Elizabeth: [Not really, just wanted to confirm something.]
Richard: [What is it?]
He was puzzled. Was she trying to see if her brothers had any feelings for her? Did she still crave their affection?
Elizabeth: [Just wanted to confirm if you could ever tell the truth. Now confirmed, you can't!]
Richard's face darkened.
Richard: [You're getting bold. Don't want the contract anymore?]
Elizabeth sent three disdainful emojis.
Elizabeth: [Who cares about your so-called best contract.]
Elizabeth: [Look at what someone else gave me.]
She sent over a contract. Richard read it, his face growing darker. 'When did Rex become so generous? Is he trying to turn her against us?'
Richard: [You want to go to Starlight Entertainment? They're our enemy. Rex is cunning. He wouldn't give you such a contract with good intentions.]
Elizabeth: [Do you ever look in the mirror?]
Richard, guessing she wasn't say something nice, asked: [What do you mean?]
Elizabeth: [If you looked in the mirror, you'd see that insidious and cunning describes you perfectly. How can you have no self-awareness?]
Richard was furious.
Richard: [Elizabeth, are you really going to oppose me for an outsider?]
Elizabeth: [Like I said, you have no self-awareness. You guys are the outsiders too.]
Richard's face turned grim.
Richard: [So you're herejust to provoke me?]
Elizabeth: [No, I'm here to humiliate you.]
Elizabeth: [You said you'd give me the best contract in the industry, something no other company could offer.]
Elizabeth: [How could you say such things without feeling ashamed?]
Richard was enraged: [Elizabeth, stop testing my patience.]
Elizabeth: [Who would waste time testing your patience? I just want to help you see yourself clearly, so you don't keep doing such embarrassing things.]
Elizabeth: [If I were you, I'd find a rock to smash my head against right now, it's so humiliating.]
Elizabeth: [What if I spread what you said around the circle?]
Elizabeth: [Wouldn't people laugh at you, making you the biggest joke in the industry?]
Elizabeth: [Oh, now that I think about it, that's a great idea.]
She then deleted Richard again.
Richard: [I dare you!]
But he got a prompt saying they were no longer friends.
Now he was both angry and anxious, fearing Elizabeth would spread the contract details. They wanted her to submit, not humiliate them.
Elizabeth had played it well. She always managed to ignite his anger but left him with no way to vent it, making him extremely frustrated.
He picked up a cup and smashed it on the ground. "Damn it!"
This startled Loren. "What's wrong?"
It was the first time he had seen Richard so furious and out of control.
Richard handed him the phone. "See for yourself."
Loren read the messages, his face showing a complex expression. No wonder Richard was so angry; Elizabeth's words were indeed infuriating.
"She wouldn't really do that, would she?" Loren asked.
Richard frowned. "I doubt it. If she humiliates us like that, does she still want to come back home smoothly in the future?"
Loren thought for a moment. "You're right, she's probably just trying to piss you off."
Just then, Richard's phone rang. It was his assistant. "What's up?"
An urgent voice came through. "Mr. Clark, Elizabeth posted something inciting others to humiliate you. What should we do?"
Richard's eyes widened. "She really?"
He hung up and opened Elizabeth's social account.
[@Elizabeth: Cut ties with the Clark family completely now. Mr. Clark offered a contract to silence me, talking about sibling love. Where were you before? I'm not a fool, and I won't post the false clarification you asked for. Best contract in the industry? #nothanks]
Richard's face changed. His chest hurt from anger. "She posted it! She really posted it! Damn it, she's screwing me over again. Is she really my sister? She must be an enemy!"
Not only did she expose them, but she also rejected the best contract the company could offer. She even harmed him, Eugene, and Brenda.
What did she mean by asking her to post a 'clarification'? He hadn't even mentioned it to her. How could she accuse him?
He could imagine that the money spent to remove those headlines was all wasted. With this post, people would definitely start speculating and criticizing them.
Loren saw Richard losing his composure and took the phone from him. Seeing the post, his face also changed. "She really did it. Isn't she afraid that because of this, we won't accept her anymore?"
Richard cursed, "She doesn't give a damn. She's just trying to go against us and humiliate me."
He couldn't understand. "How does making me, her brother, look bad benefit her? I think she's really stupid."
He was about to explode with anger.
Loren frowned. "Let's think about PR first."
Richard took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger and think rationally. "This is indeed the best contract in the industry. I'll have PR focus on that." Richard said. "I'll have the PR department clarify that I care about her as a sister, and she's the one who doesn't appreciate it and falsely accuses me."
Loren sighed, "That's all we can do."
He was increasingly unable to understand Elizabeth.
Richard didn't delay and posted online. He explained that he just wanted to compensate Elizabeth, so he used the company's best contract for her, with no other intentions, and asked her not to misunderstand. He also uploaded a photo of the contract, showing that he was genuinely kind, and it was she who didn't appreciate it. He hid the parts involving company privacy.
Moments later, Richard's phone rang again. It was still the assistant.
Richard answered, "What now?"
The assistant said, "Raymond just posted something online, intensifying the public's criticism of us."
Richard was silent. Previously, Raymond had helped Elizabeth target and bully Brenda, and attack Kevin. Now he was jumping out to oppose them again, while they had never provoke him!
Raymond was simply out of his mind. 'Could Raymond ever be a decent person?'
