Chapter 118 This Time, Let Brenda Pick Up What She Didn't Want

Hubert and Angela were in serious pain after getting home.

In the middle of the night, they couldn't take it anymore and went to the hospital.

Hubert's injuries looked bad, but tests showed they weren't serious. Angela's face had been swollen, but it went down by the time they got there.

After a pointless trip, they went back home and couldn't sleep all night because of the pain.

Richard and Brenda also stayed up all night.

The next day, Elizabeth got to the office, and Shirley came in with a form.

"Ms. Clark, there are a lot of invites for scripts and variety shows. I've organized them for you to review."

Elizabeth took the form. "Alright, I'll check it out."

The form listed the variety of shows and scripts, the directors, and what they wanted her or Emily to do.

With Shirley's help, Elizabeth felt much more at ease.

Most of the invites were for her. The ones for Emily were mostly marriage-related scripts and a couple of relationship talk shows.

Elizabeth asked Shirley, "Do you think any of these are good for me and Emily?"

Shirley, being thorough and sharp, had thought about this while organizing the info.

She smiled and said, "I don't think any of these are right for Emily. Taking them would just pigeonhole her and waste the fans she's starting to win back."

Elizabeth nodded. "I agree. Turn down the scripts and shows for Emily. I'm planning to get her a lead role in a TV series."

Shirley knew Elizabeth's plan and was interested in becoming an agent. She was doing her assistant job well and learning as much as she could.

"Are you talking about the show that the actress who hurt Emily was supposed to be in?" Elizabeth asked.

Even though it was a war drama, the male lead was a big star, and there were many veteran actors, making it highly anticipated.

Nowadays, people like popular stars but also care about acting skills and plot. So many stars are working hard to improve their acting.

Elizabeth said, "Yes, the director has already dropped that actress, so I'm planning to have Emily take the role."

That actress had a bad reputation now and was dropped by Clark Entertainment. The director couldn't let a tainted actress play the lead.

Richard had used his connections to get that role for her, but now that she was out, Clark Entertainment was pushing another actress for the role.

Elizabeth had read the script; it was challenging and showcased acting skills. The role was eye-catching and could bring Emily back to her former status.

So it was crucial for Emily to get the role.

Shirley was all for it. "This is good."

Getting this role and doing well would not only embarrass that actress and Clark Entertainment but also boost Emily's career.

Elizabeth then asked, "Do you see any good resources for me?"

Shirley thought for a moment. "There's a movie script that looks good, but it's a bit niche, so the box office might not be great."

She added, "That fantasy drama, the director is well-known, the script is dramatic and interesting. With good post-production, it could be a big hit."

Shirley then said, "But the male lead for this drama has been decided;it's Eugene. Brenda is also eyeing the female lead, and Richard is pushing for her. If it weren't for the previous incident, she would've already been confirmed."

Elizabeth appreciated Shirley's talent and effort. She hit all the key points.

"Contact the director of that niche movie and tell him I'll take it," Elizabeth said.

This was a movie she had a good chance of winning an award for in her past life. She loved the script and planned to perform even better this time.

"Okay!" Shirley was a bit surprised but felt this was typical of Elizabeth.

Shirley then asked, "What about the fantasy drama? The director said you can choose either the female lead or the second female lead."

She added, "The rest will go to Brenda."

Elizabeth smiled. "They're pretty straightforward."

The message was clear: they wanted to use the dynamic between the three of them to boost the show's popularity. This was normal, and the director's honesty wasn't off-putting.

Plus, he was sincere, letting her choose first between the female lead and the second female lead, with the rest going to Brenda. This was quite a blow to Brenda.

Elizabeth said, "I'm planning to take the second female lead role, but the script should stay as it is, without weakening or changing the second female lead's storyline. Ask the director if that's okay. If it is, I'll sign."

In the past life, Brenda had become popular through the variety show they were participating and then took this fantasy drama. The high-quality production, the famous director, Eugene, and good script made it a hit.

Although Brenda's acting was average, with Eugene and Richard's support, her role was modified to be very likable, and she became popular.

The actress who had played the second female lead didn't become popular and was heavily criticized online for "bullying" Brenda. She was suppressed by Brenda on set, and with Richard and the Clark Group backing him, the director had the scriptwriter change a lot of the second female lead's storyline.

This made the second female lead unlikable, just a tool to highlight the female lead's goodness.

But Elizabeth really liked this role.

In this fantasy drama, the female protagonist was the weak persona just like what Brenda had created in the variety show. It weakened the second female lead character's identity, focusing on the male protagonist's cold-heartedness, which was moved by the female protagonist later, leading to a sweet romance.

With the second female lead character being made unlikable, she appeared to be a heartless villain. But in reality, she was originally the male protagonist's wife.

The male protagonist had previously killed his wife. But God saved her. She didn't die and, by coincidence, learned dark magic.

The male protagonist's wife was clear about love and hate and naturally wanted revenge, intending to kill the male protagonist.

Although she didn't kill the male protagonist in the end because the male protagonist and female protagonist were God's favorites, she left a deep impression.

Elizabeth liked this role; it was very conflicting.

So she wanted the director not to weaken the second female lead character's original setting. If performed well, it would be very outstanding and could overshadow the female lead.

It would highlight the female lead's weak persona.

If it were another actress playing the female lead, Elizabeth wouldn't try to steal the spotlight or deliberately suppress her.

But if the female lead was still Brenda, she was happy to have a contrast with Brenda.

After all, Brenda used to love doing this.

If Brenda wanted to become popular again through this drama, she had to ask for her permission.

This time, she would let Brenda pick up what she didn't want.
