Chapter 368 Any Results?

The Anderson family has always been super protective of Betty. When they heard about Amy's shameless antics, they were livid. They told Betty that the King family was bad news from the start, so it was totally fine to go after them. The Andersons weren't pushovers either, and even if Orlando got involved, this wasn't over.

In the video that got out, Betty looked like a total shrew. She was embarrassed, and the Anderson family felt the sting too. They comforted her, telling her to stand up to Amy and promising their support.

After hanging up, Betty felt way better. She had been overthinking, thinking her parents and Leon didn't care anymore because they had refused her request before. Leon even suggested she see a shrink. But now, it seemed like they were just picky about what they'd help with.

She turned to Paul and said, "Babe, you should team up with my family to take down the King family."

This time, he wouldn't say no, right? Sure enough, Paul nodded and said, "Even if you didn't ask, I would've done it."

Amy had caused drama between Betty and Elizabeth and even hired some evil wizard to mess with them. That was way over the line. If he didn't hit back, he might as well step down as chairman of the Clark Group.

Betty was thrilled. "Great. Let's make Amy pay."

Once the King family was out of the picture, she'd find someone to stir up trouble for Amy. Soon, everyone in their circle would be laughing at Amy daily.

Paul arranged for a private jet but still felt uneasy. He decided to go to the Divination Association and hire a couple of master diviners to escort them back to Clifftonshireburg. With enough money, it wouldn't be a problem. But before he could go, Bishop called to inform him that the Divination Association had figured out Brenda's situation and wanted him to come over.

Bishop, being in Clifftonshireburg, didn't want to deal with it, so he asked Paul to go. Paul told Betty to chill at the hotel while he went to the Divination Association.

Thinking about the upcoming payback, Betty happily went back to the hotel. In the stairwell, she bumped into a smiling, chubby foreign guy. He apologized a bunch, but she didn't really care.

After chilling in her room for a bit, she went to the bathroom to take off her makeup. As she bent over to wash her face with her eyes closed, she didn't notice a white worm falling from her body into the water. The worm followed the water she splashed on her face and quickly crawled into her nose.

Meanwhile, the evil wizard was back at the hotel. He had a doll with Betty's photo on it and started casting an evil spell. To avoid getting caught too soon, he planned to activate the poison worm in Betty's body three days later.

In Aevum City, except for the building protected by the Divination Association's formation, Zachary could sense any use of supernatural powers. This was an ability he gained after being bound to Aevum City. At that moment, he was having tea with Elizabeth, chatting about spell cultivation.

Sensing something off, Zachary looked at Elizabeth and said, "The evil wizard managed to poison Betty with a worm and cast a nasty spell. Looks like she'll feel the effects in three days. You wanna step in?"

Betty was Elizabeth's mom, after all, and he wasn't sure if she'd want to get involved now that Betty was in trouble.

Elizabeth shook her head. "Nope. I warned her she'd be in for it if she messed with Amy again. From what I can tell, even if she dodges this bullet, there'll be another one. Plus, I want her to learn the hard way. She won't die, and the damage is limited."

Elizabeth wanted to see if Betty had changed her tune after falling into this trap.Zachary's eyes sparkled with a grin. "They might come begging you to get rid of the poison worm."

Elizabeth shrugged. "Still not helping her."

Betty getting poisoned didn't mess with the bigger picture, so she wasn't gonna step in like she did when her shady brothers were messing with Generational Blessings. As long as Betty didn't die, it was all good. Betty had no one to blame but herself for getting tangled up with Amy; she deserved what was coming.

Zachary chuckled, "That's fair; you two aren't really family anymore."

He liked Elizabeth's stance. He wouldn't help Betty either.

Then he sensed something else. "Paul's in Aevum City."

Elizabeth smiled. "He's probably here to hire a master diviner to escort them back to Clifftonshireburg."

Knowing Paul, he'd want extra security since they were targeted by an evil wizard.

Zachary kept sensing. After a moment, he grinned. "You got half of it right."

Elizabeth thought for a second. "The other half must be that the Divination Association has news on Brenda's case?"

Zachary gave her an approving nod. "You're still sharp as ever."

Elizabeth smiled. "What's the scoop? Who's taking the fall for Brenda?"

Given Brenda's freedom in Aevum City, someone powerful had her back. To clear Brenda's name, they needed a scapegoat.

Zachary replied, "A guy named Alfonso, who's got strong ties to the Clark family."

Elizabeth wasn't surprised. "So it is Alfonso. He had it coming."

They were all in on it, so Alfonso being the fall guy wasn't unfair. She had already guessed the people behind Brenda would throw Alfonso under the bus. They must've known Paul suspected Alfonso. By sacrificing Alfonso, they could kill two birds with one stone.

She asked, "What about Brenda?"

Zachary said, "Their story is that Alfonso used an evil spell to control Brenda, so she did all those things, like trying to take Generational Blessings, under his influence. In reality, Alfonso would've absorbed the Generational Blessings."

Elizabeth sneered, "So Brenda goes from villain to victim. She's innocent again. The people backing Brenda are shameless. And it seems they don't care about exposing the Divination Association's flaws."

No one, not even Paul or the Clark brothers, would buy that story.
