Chapter 456 Did Elizabeth Trick You?

Betty found it hard to accept. She looked over at Brenda, who was also in shock. "Is he really your dad?" she asked, voice trembling.

Brenda, confused and overwhelmed, shook her head. "I don't know!" all she had ever believed was that she was a child of the King Family. Reality felt like it was fracturing around her. She turned to Ethan with a desperate need for clarity. "Is what Elizabeth said true?"

Ethan frowned. "It's true. Do you have a problem with that?" He had never held much affection for Brenda, considering her less intelligent compared to Natalie. He chose her solely because Brenda's birth time clashed with Elizabeth's, and because Brenda was easier to control. Now, irritation simmered beneath his skin as he regretted that decision.

Faced with this new, harsh reality, Brenda was at a loss. Her real father was an old man she knew nothing about. How on Earth did Piper, her mother, fall for someone like Ethan? And Amy's involvement made no sense to her. She had seen Orlando; he was better in every way—looks, demeanor, and charisma—than Ethan.

Ethan, observant as always, noticed the disdain flickering in Brenda's eyes. His temper flared. "I look this way because of repeated backlash, largely thanks to you." Otherwise, he would always look young and handsome in front of his women.

Brenda, recognizing the danger of his anger, quickly masked her true feelings and put on a facade of excitement. "Dad, I never thought you were my real dad. That's great news!" Even though he was old, having a powerful divination president as a father was better than her previous situation with the poor and incompetent Vincent. Suddenly, all the mysterious support she had received throughout her life made sense: it wasn't Samuel, but Ethan pulling strings behind the scenes. It seemed advantageous now, and Brenda quickly accepted this new truth.

Ethan's expression softened slightly. Brenda might be useless, but at least she was compliant and knew how to adapt.

Betty's face hardened as she watched this bizarre exchange. She gritted her teeth and confronted Ethan. "Was it you who had Piper abduct Elizabeth and hand her to human traffickers?"

Ethan, weary of subterfuge, replied with cold indifference, "So what if it was?" Seeing that Betty had more questions, he preempted them. "Brenda's adoption was also my doing. The point was to siphon your family's Generational Blessings."

Before coming, he had already checked with instruments and found no recording or monitoring devices. To be more cautious, he also activated interference equipment. So these words, once said, would not be admitted in public. Moreover, Betty and Elizabeth were going to be dead soon, so they couldn't say anything.

Betty, reeling from shock after shock, spat out, "You're shameless!" The thought that the president of the Divination Association could be such a monster was nauseating. She had raised Brenda with such love, the reality of it making her stomach churn with disgust.

Ethan didn't feel ashamed. He snorted, "Your own stupidity is to blame."

Betty was at a loss. "You!" she started, but words failed her.

Ethan ignored Betty. He noticed that the fight between Stanley and Elizabeth was still in a shallow probing stage. He urged, "Stop toying around, Stanley! Show your true skills. Kill them now, and let's get out of here."

Betty's eyes widened. "What do you mean? You still want to kill us?" She could tell that Ethan was referring to her and Elizabeth.

Ethan impatiently said, "You know too much."

Betty shrank back in fear. She really didn't want to know so much. She turned to Elizabeth, "What should we do?" She didn't want to die.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes at Betty, "Didn't you bring this on yourself? You're asking me?"

Betty muttered, "I didn't know he was this bad." She was already regretting it and realized she had fallen into Ethan's trap. She shouldn't have called Elizabeth here today.

Elizabeth's gaze was stern. "I always said he wasn't a good person. But you didn't believe me, always thinking I was against you. Now you have to face the truth—even if it means crying on your knees."

Betty's guilt was palpable as she admitted, "I thought with his status, he couldn't possibly be this bad. Who knew..."

Elizabeth cut her off. "Stop making excuses, it's useless." Betty had a habit of deflecting blame whenever things went wrong, and Elizabeth was done with it.

Elizabeth ignored Betty. Instead, she took out an evil aura artifact and attacked Stanley. She demanded, "Let's finish this quickly."

Stanley smirked, matching her energy. "Just what I wanted," he said, producing his own artifact and attacking Elizabeth.

Seeing the two about to start a real fight, Ethan also increased his attack on Elizabeth. He was not only backlash but also had an inexplicable sense of unease. So he just wanted to quickly kill Elizabeth, fearing any unexpected changes.

But he was always cautious, even when cooperating with Stanley, he was wary of him. Especially during such a fight, he had taken measures to protect himself. So he immediately took out an artifact to block.

The force attacking Elizabeth was also blocked by her, as she was prepared. Being attacked by two top-level diviners, although Ethan was strong and had artifacts for defense, he couldn't withstand it and spat out blood, seriously injured. His eyes burned with betrayal as they fixed on Stanley. "Why?"

He had realized that Stanley had teamed up with Elizabeth to deal with him.

Stanley's voice dripped with distaste. "The aura on Aaron was all yours, it had nothing to do with Elizabeth." He continued, his face a mask of fury. "I know you plotted against Aaron, framing Elizabeth. You thought you could deceive and control me? You're delusional."

If it weren't for Ethan's schemes, he wouldn't have wanted to be enemies with him. But although Aaron didn't die, he was ruined. Aaron was damaged by the curse, he could no longer cultivate and could only be an ordinary person. Moreover, he would remain weak, and even with good care, his lifespan was limited. This made Stanley very angry, and he couldn't let Ethan go.

Realization dawned on Ethan, tinged with disbelief. "Did Elizabeth trick you?" He had been careful in mimicking Elizabeth's aura for the curse; Stanley wasn't supposed to know the truth.

Stanley looked at Ethan coldly. He said icily, "Aaron saw through the curse; he saw it was you. You deserve to die for what you did." He moved his fingers, and suddenly a palm-sized venomous snake leaped towards Ethan.

Ethan was prepared and threw a Spellscroll. But at this moment, Elizabeth also threw a Spellscroll, which landed on his. The two Spellscrolls touched and instantly burned to ashes. Because of this, the snake successfully landed on Ethan's arm and bit him.

Realizing the full extent of Elizabeth's cunning and treachery, Ethan tore the snake off and swallowed an antidote pill. Clutching his arm, he sneered at Elizabeth, irony in his voice. "I didn't expect to be bested by you, in the end." Always the puppet master, it was a bitter pill to be outmaneuvered.
