Chapter 306 Trouble is Brewing

The crew had some cash to burn, so they hopped in a carriage and headed to the Soule field.

The Soule field was massive, with stands on all sides and a big ol' competition area smack in the middle.

The people of Aevum City were big fans of Soule, so the match today drew a huge crowd.

There was a rule that the competitors couldn't just show up in their everyday clothes for Soule; they had to have the proper gear to fit in. Fortunately, there were shops nearby where they could buy the outfits.

Enrique and Brenda hadn't grabbed theirs yet, so they went shopping and got changed.

Elizabeth, Raymond, Zachary, and Natalie had already snagged theirs from the shop where Raymond worked. The owner even hooked them up with a discount.

They all picked out these flashy red Soule outfits. Raymond and Elizabeth looked bold and flashy, while Natalie had this sweet, fresh vibe. Zachary, though, had a different kind of charm compared to his usual white getup.

The four of them looked so good that they turned heads as soon as they stepped out.

Raymond had given Enrique and Brenda a heads-up in the group chat to get red outfits too, so they could spot each other easily on the field. So, they also went for the red ones.

But when Enrique and Brenda came out in their new gear, they were ticked off seeing the other four in matching outfits.

Brenda muttered, "This is too much. We're supposed to be a team, and they left us out with their matching outfits."

Even though they had nice clothes, they felt overshadowed by Elizabeth and the gang. It really got under Brenda's skin.

Enrique was even more annoyed. He stormed over to the four and said, "Don't you think you're being too much?"

Raymond raised an eyebrow. "What's your problem now?"

Enrique snapped, "You all coordinated your outfits and left us out. Even if you don't like us, we're supposed to be a team. Can't we work together?"

Raymond laughed, "We left you out? You gotta be kidding me. I asked you in the group chat if you wanted to buy outfits together. You said Brenda was feeling dizzy and needed to rest at the hotel, so you wouldn't come. You said you'd buy them at the Soule field.

I even reminded you to get red ones. And you call that us excluding you?"

Elizabeth chimed in, "You two are the ones being antisocial, and now you're blaming us? You're really good at playing the victim."

Brenda shot back, "But you didn't say you were all buying the same outfits yesterday!"

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "When we said we were picking out outfits together, wasn't that implied? What's wrong with your comprehension? Besides, weren't you supposed to be sick and resting at the hotel?

Raymond asked you in the group chat; it's not like we hid it from you. You didn't come, but now you have the nerve to blame us."

Brenda paused. They had seen Raymond's message in the group chat yesterday. But they didn't want to go out, so they declined.

She said, "No matter what, your special treatment makes it hard for us to fit into the team."

Elizabeth knew Brenda well.

She raised an eyebrow. "So what do you want? Thinking of switching teams last minute?"

Usually, in front of the live stream cameras, Brenda would act all kind and considerate, not so openly pissed. If she was acting like this, it meant one thing: Brenda had a bad idea and wanted to stir up trouble.

Brenda didn't expect Elizabeth to see right through her. She snapped, "Your exclusion and rejection are bad for the team. If that's the case, we might as well split up."

She really didn't want to be stuck with Elizabeth and the others. If they won, the viewers would give all the credit to Elizabeth and her crew. Brenda didn't want to be just a sidekick.

After all the dirt that had been dug up on her online and the weakening of her Generational Blessings, she was sure it was Elizabeth's doing. If she had similar dirt on Elizabeth, she'd definitely expose it. She couldn't let this slide and wanted revenge.

She also had a gut feeling. Only by getting rid of Elizabeth could she go back to being adored. Her Generational Blessings wouldn't keep getting weaker. So if they weren't on the same team, she could find a chance to do what she wanted.

She'd been thinking yesterday about what excuse to use to switch teams. Today, when she saw the four of them in matching outfits, she realized this was her chance. So while she was upset, she also took the opportunity to stir the pot and switch teams.

Raymond was speechless and grumbled, "Wait, are you seriously suggesting we switch teams? Are you messing with us now?"

Brenda said indignantly, "You guys were the ones being excessive first. We can't accept being excluded."

Raymond laughed in frustration. "Alright, I get it. You're just looking for an excuse to switch teams. Fine, if you don't want to be on the same team, we don't either. Let's disband now. The four of us will find two new teammates. You two can go find another team."

In these competitions, people who didn't have fixed teams but loved Soule would come to the site to find teams. Teams short on members would also look for people to join temporarily. So it was still possible to form new teams now.

Brenda was definitely planning this. But she pretended to be angry. "Fine, we'll find another team."

She then grabbed Enrique's arm. "Enrique, we don't have to take this. Let's go."

She also knew that after everything that had happened, her online rep was tanking.

Since she was going to get slammed anyway, there was no need to pretend anymore. This also meant she could be angry and retaliate. So, in the upcoming competition, when she went up against Elizabeth and her team, her ruthless actions seemed more justified. This current drama was just a warm-up for what was coming.

Enrique was a bit stunned. He really didn't expect things to blow up over some outfits. But naturally, he stood by Brenda. So he nodded and said, "Fine, if they wanna play rough, we ain't playing nice with them."

Then he followed Brenda away.

Seeing the two leave, Natalie deliberately said in front of the live stream camera, "They must have planned to split up from us all along."

Raymond remarked, "Definitely. Just look at Brenda; she was ready and couldn't wait to find another team."

Natalie asked, "Why would they want to split up?"

Elizabeth knew she was asking on purpose. So she answered, "Maybe they're afraid we'll steal the spotlight, so they want to split up."

Natalie agreed, "I think so. But this is too much. If they had told us earlier, we could have been prepared. They suddenly pulled this, and we were totally caught off guard."

The three of them deliberately exposed Brenda's little scheme. Otherwise, Brenda would play the victim, making it seem like they were forced to form a new team because they were bullied, which could easily cause misunderstandings.

And this kind of behavior was too shady; it had to be exposed so everyone would know Brenda's little tricks.
