Chapter 478 Can't Wait to See the Fireworks
Elizabeth smiled and shook her head. "No need. If you get involved, the animosity will shift to you. It's unnecessary."
She continued, "Betty failed to send Brenda to jail this time, but she won't quit. Given her determination, she'll find a way to put Brenda behind bars. Otherwise, it will gnaw at her, making her extremely uneasy. And it won't take long. Let them battle it out. That's for the best."
Raymond could see that Elizabeth really didn't want to get involved. He nodded. "Alright, then I won't interfere. But why did the Sinclair family suddenly get involved in Brenda's matter?"
Elizabeth explained the grudge between Claire and Betty. Then she said faintly, "But the mastermind behind this is Loren. He gave Brenda the idea to ask Elise for help, and Elise then went to Claire for assistance."
Elizabeth knew that after Brenda contacted Loren, she reached out to Elise. With Brenda's mindset, she wouldn't have thought of Elise, so it must have been Loren's instigation.
Raymond frowned and said with a hint of sarcasm, "Loren is really a good brother! Even now, he still wants to protect and help Brenda. He didn't intervene directly because he's afraid his parents would blame him, right?"
Elizabeth replied, "He definitely won't interfere on the surface, otherwise Betty would be the first to cause him trouble, and Paul would be disappointed in him. However, his move isn't entirely to help Brenda. He has other motives."
Elizabeth understood Loren well. Although he spoiled Brenda, it wasn't unconditional like the others. Loren was a typical egoist, so she didn't believe Loren was simply helping Brenda.
Raymond was stunned momentarily before asking, "What other motives does he have? For himself?"
Elizabeth gave him a confirming look, her eyes narrowing with insight. "Yes, more for himself," she said, her voice steady and measured. She leaned forward slightly, emphasizing her point. "Giving Brenda such advice, his goal should be Elise. Elise is Mr. Sinclair's only daughter. The Sinclair Group, although not as powerful as the Clark Group, controls many raw material resources that the Clark Group needs."
She paused for a moment, her fingers tapping lightly on the table as she continued, "Because of previous events, Loren's abilities have been questioned by the higher-ups and shareholders of the Clark Group. He wants to establish himself immediately after entering the Clark Group, and the best shortcut is marriage. Mr. Sinclair only has Elise as a daughter. If Elise and Loren insist on being together, there's nothing he can do about it. To ensure Elise's happiness, the Sinclair family can only use cooperation to restrain Loren. And the shareholders of the Clark Group would definitely be happy to see the two groups cooperate. After making this happen, Loren would be a hero."
Elizabeth leaned back in her chair, her fingers interlaced thoughtfully. She tilted her head slightly, considering her words. "The Sinclair family only has Elise, and she is the heir to the shares and property. In the future, Loren might even have a chance to take over the Sinclair family. And in Elise's mind, she might think Loren is quite loyal and righteous. After all, while the Clark family is all against Brenda, only he still remembers the sibling bond and helps Brenda. And if he asked Elise for help, Loren might have verbally promised Elise, like he would never have anything to do with Brenda in the future."
She added, her voice tinged with a hint of sarcasm. "When Loren was engaged to Ms. Cook before, Elise actually confessed to Loren. But at that time, Loren refused and deliberately avoided Elise to show off in front of Michelle. At that time, Ms. Cook was more valuable, and Loren's abilities were not questioned, so he ignored Elise. And now, to make Elise rekindle her old feelings for him, he needs an opportunity. Brenda's matter is the opportunity, making Elise cling to him. In the future, whether it's with Paul or Lowell, he would be seen as reluctantly accepting."
Raymond understood immediately. He snorted, "Loren is really hypocritical! On the surface, he's helping Brenda, but in reality, it's for himself."
He remarked, "And Elise isn't much better. Confessing to Loren while he was engaged is just an attempt to steal Michelle's fiancé."
Elizabeth nodded. "Elise is truly problematic. Known for her arrogance and domineering attitude, she frequently bullied others, even in school. She has also stolen several boyfriends, who often resembled Loren. Her behavior not only troubled Michelle but also caused issues for me because of Brenda."
But back then, she hadn't given Elise a good face and fought back.
Elizabeth said, "Anyway, Elise is very domineering and not suitable to be a good wife. So Loren used to keep his distance from her. But now, the best marriage partner for Loren is Elise, so he doesn't care about these issues anymore."
Raymond, apart from Elizabeth, had no interest in other women and wouldn't care to inquire. Hearing her words, he couldn't help but say, "Loren is really ruthless to himself for his career, wanting to marry someone like Elise."
'If it were me, I would rather give up my career than marry someone I didn't like. It's not only unfair to myself but also irresponsible to others,' Raymond thought.
He added, "But if the two of them end up together, it would be quite fitting. If they are together, they won't harm others."
He blinked and smirked. "Loren giving Brenda advice is actually a hassle for him too. Now, for Brenda, Loren is the last hope, and she has to hold on to him. And if Elise really gets together with Loren, with her domineering nature, she won't tolerate Brenda. The two of them will have a lot to fight over, and Loren will have a headache. But he brought this on himself."
Elizabeth chuckled. "You're reading my mind. We don't need to step in; just let them duke it out. When the time's right, let Betty know that Claire helped Brenda because it was Loren's idea. That'll stir the pot even more."
Betty was notoriously petty and couldn't stand any betrayal, especially from Loren, who she held in the highest regard.
Raymond grinned slyly. "Can't wait to see the fireworks."
He changed the subject, "When are you going to the remote area to shoot?"
Elizabeth took a movie role, and he initially wanted one too. However, he reconsidered and stepped back. There was no suitable part for him in that film, and pushing himself in could have compromised the production. If he appeared in every movie and show with Elizabeth, the audience might grow weary. He wouldn't do anything to hinder Elizabeth's success.
Elizabeth said, "I'm heading out in a couple of days to join the TV series crew. Once I wrap up this movie and the show, I'm planning to take a break from acting for a while."
Raymond nodded. "A break sounds like a good idea. Mind if I visit you on set? I've only got a few commercials to shoot, so I've got plenty of free time."
Elizabeth smiled. "Of course, just make sure to bring some good food."
Raymond's face lit up. "You got it."
