Chapter 408 It Was too Late
On the other side, the villagers dug the grave just like Elizabeth asked. It was exactly one o'clock.
Elizabeth chanted a spell, burned the scroll she had drawn, and marked the grave.
The day was cloudy, and while it didn't rain, dark clouds were hanging around.
Right after Elizabeth finished marking, everyone there looked shocked because a rainbow appeared right above the freshly marked grave.
Elizabeth broke the silence, "You can place the coffin now." Her words snapped everyone back to reality, and they all looked at her with newfound respect.
'Elizabeth is something else,' they thought.
Cassius was even more blown away. If he hadn't seen it himself, he wouldn't have believed it. He thought, 'Elizabeth is truly amazing. When we get back to Clifftonshireburg, I'm definitely telling everyone about her.'
Cassius's assistant had been recording the whole thing, following Cassius's orders to document the grave-moving process to avoid any mistakes in the spot Elizabeth pointed out. He hadn't expected to capture such a miraculous scene.
Cassius asked Elizabeth if he could keep the video and share it with his old friends when they got back to Clifftonshireburg.
Elizabeth, of course, wouldn't pass up a chance to make a name for herself. If more directors, producers, and investors came to her for divination, she could get more resources for the studio's artists.
After successfully moving the grave, Elizabeth and her crew headed back to Clifftonshireburg.
Quentin drove Elizabeth back to her apartment. With gratitude in his eyes, he said, "Boss, you worked hard for this role, thank you!"
In Cassius's movie, even the fourth or fifth male roles were highly contested, let alone the important second male lead. The kicker was that Quentin's old rival, who had stepped on him to rise, was also gunning for this second male lead role. Now that Elizabeth had secured it for Quentin, that rival must be feeling pretty lousy.
Elizabeth smiled, "I'm your agent, it's my job to get you more opportunities. No need to thank me. Go back and prepare well. After being dormant for so long, it's time to wow everyone. I'll talk to Mr. Blackwood, and the studio will give you good publicity. You don't need to create a persona, just be yourself. After this movie, I believe you can become one of the popular stars."
Quentin, being older and taking the acting route, with his mature and steady temperament and handsome looks, could attract a lot of fans.
Quentin smiled, "Alright, I will work hard." This was not only a great opportunity, but Cassius also, for Elizabeth's sake, offered him a salary that matched his former status. The substantial amount of money he received finally eased the financial pressure of the past two years. As a result, he was genuinely grateful to Elizabeth, feeling she was the best boss he had ever had in his middle age.
When Quentin's contract with Clark Entertainment expired, he tried to contact other entertainment companies and agents. But good companies and agents thought he had no hope of making a comeback and politely declined him. Companies that wanted to leverage his former fame proposed very harsh conditions. Fortunately, he had taken a chance and applied to Elizabeth's studio and was signed.
Otherwise, Quentin wouldn't know whether to stay in the entertainment industry. He loved acting and only knew how to act, with a somewhat introverted personality. If he had to find another job, he wouldn't know what to do or what he could do. Now that he could continue acting, he was really happy and grateful.
A few days later at Clark Entertainment, Quentin's old agent and rival, Lysander Beaumont, was fuming when he found out the second male lead role had been snagged. They thought they had it in the bag, but Quentin, the guy they had been trying to keep down, got it instead. It was a tough pill to swallow.
The agent said, "Since we missed out on the second male lead, I was thinking of going for the third male lead for you. But Cassius flat-out said he wouldn't use any artists from Clark Entertainment. This was supposed to be your big break into the film industry, and now Quentin's got the role."
Lysander, who had already won some honors, was aiming for bigger things. Even though this was just a second male lead role, winning an award could set the stage for a major win next time. They had everything planned out, but now it was all messed up.
Frowning, Lysander said, "Who would've thought Quentin would get so lucky signing with Elizabeth's studio. Elizabeth, with her divination master status, won over Cassius."
Cassius's family had some trouble before, which Elizabeth sorted out. Lately, Cassius had been hyping Elizabeth up in the industry, and for her sake, he even declared he wouldn't use any artists from Clark Entertainment.
This made a lot of artists at the same level pretty resentful towards Lysander. They felt it was his fault they lost the chance to be in Cassius's future films.
Lysander found it ridiculous. He didn't get the role because Quentin was favored by Elizabeth. But Cassius not accepting artists from Clark Entertainment? That was because of Loren. These people just didn't dare to vent their anger on Loren, so they took it out on him. It made him furious, but he could only sulk.
After all, dealing with Quentin was one thing, but dealing with Elizabeth was a whole different ball game. Richard was the perfect example. As the young master of the Clark Family and a former top agent, Richard still hadn't returned to the company to manage new talents. The Clark Family couldn't do anything about Elizabeth, let alone them.
The agent responded helplessly, "Yeah, I also don't know what Quentin did to catch Elizabeth's eye, making her personally manage him."
As a fellow agent, even though he had a grudge against Elizabeth, he couldn't deny she was great at securing resources. There was a saying in the industry that there was almost no resource she couldn't get.
Although it was a bit exaggerated, it also meant that Elizabeth was not only the most popular actress but also top-tier among agents.
Lysander sneered, "Who knows what Elizabeth likes. She just likes to pick up unpopular or discarded artists. So Quentin gets lucky."
The agent thought for a moment and said, "I told you not to hang out with Brenda. I suspect she brought you bad luck." Why did he help Lysander betray Quentin and use resources to make Lysander a star? Initially, it was because Lysander had gotten close to Brenda, the favored young lady of the Clark Family.
Who could have predicted that the tables would turn, and Brenda would be quickly overshadowed by the returning Elizabeth? Rumor had it that Paul had kicked Brenda out of the Clark Family. To them, Brenda was now worthless. The agent regretted it, but it was too late.
