Chapter 410 It's Mainly for Himself

Two more days went by. Elizabeth and Raymond decided to grab a meal together. She also handed him a few freshly carved protective gemstones. The stone Raymond had given her before had been super helpful, and she wanted to return the favor.

Raymond was thrilled with Elizabeth's gift. A big, sunny smile lit up his handsome face. "Thanks, Elizabeth. With these new protective gemstones, I can give one to each of my elders at home. You're really making a name for yourself; lots of people want your help with divination." Cassius had been spreading the word about Elizabeth, and everyone was talking about her.

Elizabeth laughed, "Looks like I owe Cassius a thank you for the promo."

Raymond suddenly remembered something and said, "Did you hear about Clark Entertainment targeting your studio? Rex told me yesterday that Clark Entertainment wants to team up with Starlight Entertainment and StarSpark Entertainment to put pressure on your artists. They even offered to help the other two companies' artists compete for resources with yours. But Rex and Mr. Ramirez both turned them down."

Elizabeth nodded, "Yeah, Quentin told me." Even though Quentin wasn't as popular anymore, he used to be a big star and still had some friends at Clark Entertainment. Someone tipped him off about Clark's plans, and he passed the info to her.

With a helpless look, she said, "Signing Quentin wasn't about targeting Clark Entertainment. I just thought it was a shame for him to leave the industry like that. I didn't even consider his past with Clark. The higher-ups there are just overthinking things."

Raymond agreed, "I also think you signed Quentin for the right reasons. They're just being paranoid."

Then he asked, "So, now that they're planning to suppress you, are you going to fight back?"

Elizabeth replied confidently, "If they make the first move, I'll definitely fight back. They think my studio's growth is a threat and want to squash it early. But I'm not someone who gets pushed around easily. If they team up and use dirty tricks to steal resources from my artists, I'll retaliate."

If it was fair competition, Elizabeth wouldn't target anyone specifically. She'd just do her best to secure resources for her artists. Whoever got the resources would depend on their talent.

Raymond laughed, "I knew you'd say that." Elizabeth wasn't one to mess with, but as long as no one targeted her first, she wouldn't go after anyone.

He added, "By the way, Rex mentioned that the idea to team up against your artists came from Loren." For high-level meetings in big companies, it wasn't too hard to get the main details with a bit of digging.

Elizabeth nodded, "Yeah, Quentin told me that too." She wasn't surprised at all.

Raymond asked, "Is it because of Brenda that Loren came up with this idea?" There were rumors that Paul kicked Brenda out of the Clark Family because of Elizabeth. And Betty, who cared more about Brenda, moved out to live with her. So Loren might be trying to get back at Elizabeth for Betty and Brenda.

Elizabeth shook her head, "Nah, I don't think so. Loren's way more rational than his brothers. He's just worried that if my studio gets too strong, it'll start cutting into Clark Entertainment's resources and profits. That could mess up his resume, and he's afraid that during his time as president, it'll look bad on his record. It could hurt his chances of getting into the Clark Group and becoming chairman."

She went on, "Mr. Clark doesn't call all the shots at the Clark Group anymore; there are major shareholders eyeing the chairman's seat. They'd definitely use my successful studio to bash Loren's management. They'd say the artists I signed from Clark Entertainment are thriving, using it to target and suppress him. They'd call him incompetent, not even as good as me, and unfit for the chairman's role. He's just trying to secure his future."

She raised an eyebrow, "My studio's success does mess with their interests. Shutting down my studio would benefit Clark Entertainment, letting them grab more resources. It'd also look great on Loren's resume." Her studio was pretty famous now. Loren just wanted to use this chance to boost his authority. Even though he liked Brenda, his career and the chairman's position were his top priorities.

Raymond suddenly got it. "So it's all about him. Your connection with Loren at the Clark Group makes it easy for people to compare. If Loren can't keep up with you, people might question his ability, affecting his shot at chairman. But I think Loren's missing the point. The more this happens, the more he should step up his game, right? If he relies on crushing others to get ahead, I doubt he can hold the chairman's spot even if he gets it."

Elizabeth scoffed, "That's their go-to move. Ever since Loren and his brothers joined Clark Entertainment, the company's all about pushing others down." In the Clark Family brothers' playbook, this was the best strategy. What happened to those they suppressed wasn't their problem.

Raymond nodded, "Yeah, a lot of people in the industry don't like their style. They're in for a rough ride." Elizabeth had already dealt with Richard, Arnold, Enrique, and Kevin, making them behave. Now, he was waiting to see Loren get his comeuppance.

They chatted about work for a bit. Then Raymond suggested, "Elizabeth, how about we go on a trip? Let's invite the folks we did the variety show with." Of course, excluding Eugene and the others.

Elizabeth's eyes lit up. "Sure, how about hiking and camping?" She had already pieced together the two maps and found the location. This trip could be her chance to explore.

Ethan wouldn't expect her to find the spot so quickly or to go on a trip with other celebs to check it out. This way, Ethan wouldn't try to block them, keeping Raymond and the others safe. Otherwise, even if she went somewhere else just for fun, there was no guarantee no one would cause trouble. This plan would catch the other side off guard.
