Chapter 334 Do You Dare?
Caleb's words made Kevin burst out laughing. He gave Caleb a once-over, his eyes full of disdain. "Dude, just because you're not exactly Brad Pitt doesn't mean you have a chance with Elizabeth, you know?"
Elizabeth was amazing, and a guy like Caleb wasn't even fit to tie her shoes. The fact that Caleb had the nerve to say such things made Kevin sick.
Eugene chimed in, clearly annoyed, "Even if we broke up, you wouldn't stand a chance. Besides, you wouldn't dare try to steal my girl. But seriously, do you think you could? Elizabeth would never go for someone like you."
It wasn't just that Eugene looked down on Caleb; Caleb was genuinely useless. Even if Elizabeth had terrible taste, she'd never go for Caleb.
Caleb, usually so full of himself, stayed quiet. These two were being incredibly rude. And Eugene was his cousin, for crying out loud. No wonder Amy couldn't stand Eugene; he was pretty insufferable.
Caleb awkwardly said, "Even if she doesn't like me, you can't stop me from liking her, right? Fine, this is my fault. I apologize to Ms. Clark and to all of you."
He then turned to Eugene. "These two were just messing around and didn't actually hurt Ms. Clark. I'll have them apologize to her. Eugene, just let them go."
Eugene and the others were Elizabeth's fan club; reasoning with them was pointless. Caleb had already taken all the blame and cleared Amy's name. Whether they believed him or not, he didn't care. He just needed to get his two buddies and leave.
Eugene sneered, "You think an apology fixes everything? Do you think the law's a joke? These two have committed crimes; one of them's even a murderer. Letting them go would be aiding criminals."
He couldn't stand Caleb and his crew, and he wanted to show Elizabeth he wasn't on their side.
Caleb stayed silent; Eugene was such an idiot! Not only did he not back him up, but he also made things worse.
Amy, watching the live stream, was furious. What was wrong with Eugene? Did he have some issue with Caleb? Elizabeth hadn't even spoken yet, and he jumped in to stop them. What an idiot. He was just there to mess things up.
Eugene had no clue what Amy was thinking. He kept talking to Caleb, "They've committed crimes, so let's wait for the cops to decide what happens."
Caleb was so mad he wanted to punch Eugene. He said, exasperated, "Eugene, this fortune-telling stuff is nonsense. Ms. Clark must've seen they were here to cause trouble, so she said that."
Elizabeth cut in, "You want to clear them and take them away? Dream on."
She looked at Caleb, adding, "You've committed plenty of crimes yourself. Drugging innocent girls, running people over and fleeing, forcing yourself on girls with boyfriends and then hurting their boyfriends, human trafficking, and shady businesses."
Elizabeth stated calmly, "You can't even save yourself, and you want to save them? Keep dreaming."
Hearing what Elizabeth said left Caleb stunned. She really could tell fortunes. He had done all those things, and his family always used money to cover it up. If money couldn't fix it, they'd call Amy. She always found a way to handle it for him. That was why he kept being so cocky. Now that it was all out in the open, he felt a rare moment of panic.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Wanting to pursue you was my mistake," he said, trying to deny it. "But you can't just falsely accuse me, right?"
Elizabeth couldn't be bothered to argue. "Whether I'm falsely accusing you or not, we'll find out when the police arrive and investigate. If you're innocent, then stay and wait for the police."
"If I'm falsely accusing you, I'll apologize to you in front of the live stream and compensate you for emotional distress." She looked him straight in the eye and asked, "Do you dare?"
Amy thought she could clear her name, but that was a pipe dream. Why hadn't Caleb gone to jail despite all his crimes? Why was he still so arrogant, continuing to do bad things? Because Amy always helped him cover it up.
Amy thought making Caleb take all the blame would let her escape? No way. Elizabeth not only wanted to send Caleb to jail but also make sure Amy faced the consequences.
Caleb was the most favored grandson in the King Family, the apple of Steven King and Ada Brooks' eyes. If he went to jail because of Amy, they'd definitely go after her.
Elizabeth would step back and let them duke it out, then she'd make sure Amy caught hell from everyone online, knowing how much Amy cherished her reputation.
Caleb stayed silent; he actually didn't dare to wait for the cops.
He pretended to be innocent and said, "If you put it that way, I have no way to explain. I have things to do, so I won't play with you anymore." Then he turned to run. When the police arrived, he wouldn't be able to escape. If he got caught in front of so many people watching the live stream and they found out what he had done, even with Amy backing him, he'd still suffer. He wasn't that stupid.
Since Caleb had come to her, Elizabeth wouldn't let him escape. This time, she didn't even need to say anything; the onlookers blocked Caleb's way.
"If you haven't done anything wrong, why are you running?"
"Yeah, stay and wait for the police."
Everyone already believed Elizabeth. Why else would Caleb, who clearly didn't look like a good person, try to run? If Elizabeth hadn't hit the mark, they'd be cursing her out. Now that Caleb wanted to run, it only showed his guilty conscience.
Caleb was blocked and panicked. He glared at the people, shouting, "What business is it of yours? Get out of my way. I haven't done anything wrong, but I won't stay."
He tried to break through, but there were strong people in the crowd. They pinned him down.
At that moment, the police arrived. After asking about the situation, they looked at the three of them. The three denied everything and even said they would sue Elizabeth for slander.
The police couldn't arrest them based on Elizabeth's words alone. They asked her, "Do you have any evidence?"
Elizabeth was confident. She nodded and said, "I divined that they have done many bad things in Aevum City. In the house they bought outside the city, there are still innocent girls imprisoned."
Pointing to Oscar on the ground, she remarked, "And the person he killed is buried in that house. If you go and check the house now, you'll know if I'm falsely accusing them."
These words made Caleb and the other two terrified, and they broke out in cold sweat.
