Chapter 149 He's Just That Bad

Elizabeth's idea got a thumbs-up from Raymond and Gilbert.

Raymond chuckled, "We're on the same wavelength again."

Since Arnold had already shown off, it would be rude not to check it out.

Elizabeth gave a knowing smile, "It's still early. Let's take a walk first."

The other two agreed, "Sure!"

They had all slept well in their king-sized beds in separate rooms, which guaranteed a peaceful slumber, and were full of energy.

The trio, along with their livestream audience, strolled around a unique commercial street nearby.

When it was time, they grabbed a cab to the restaurant.

The place was elegant, and the waiter led them to a prime table in the hall.

With an average cost of about a thousand Veridiania currency per person, they didn't worry about the price and ordered the restaurant's famous dishes.

While waiting, they saw Eugene sit at the piano and start playing.

Eugene was a skilled pianist and a well-known celebrity in their country.

Many diners from Clifftonshireburg recognized him and took pictures.

After Eugene finished, Kevin took over.

Kevin was a popular star, and the diners kept snapping photos.

When Eugene stood up for Kevin, he noticed Elizabeth and the others nearby and was clearly surprised.

Why were they here?

He sat not far away, waiting for his turn again, but kept glancing at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth noticed Eugene staring but didn't look back.

Raymond saw Eugene and Kevin taking turns at the piano.

"Where are the other two?" he asked.

Elizabeth guessed, "Probably providing private services for guests."

Raymond got it and grinned. "Since we're all here and on the same show, let's request a song."

Elizabeth laughed, "Sure!"

Raymond asked the waiter, and indeed, they could request a violin performance if their bill hit three thousand Veridiania currency, with no extra charge.

Their bill had already reached that amount.

The waiter quickly fetched Brenda and Arnold, saying a guest wanted a violin performance.

Brenda and Arnold, smiling, followed the waiter into the hall.

When they saw Elizabeth and the others, their smiles froze.

Arnold blurted, "Why you guys?"

Elizabeth smiled sweetly, "We're here to eat. Is that a problem?"

Arnold felt uncomfortable serving them and his face soured. "You're here to eat, so just eat. Why the violin?"

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "We paid for it, so we want to enjoy the restaurant's specialties. Our bill qualifies, so why not? Is this how you treat guests?"

Arnold had never done this kind of work, especially not for them, and felt aggrieved.

But Elizabeth's group aimed to make them uncomfortable.

Raymond told Arnold, "Your attitude isn't great. Keep it up, and I'll complain to the manager and get your pay docked."

The waiter, who was from Clifftonshireburg, understood everything.

He quickly told Arnold, "The customer is always right. As long as their requests aren't unreasonable, you have to fulfill them."

Arnold was speechless. Could he just quit?

Brenda saw this and worried Arnold might actually leave, which would be awkward and get them scolded by the livestream audience.

Forcing a strained smile, she asked Raymond, "What would you three like to hear?"

Serving Elizabeth made her uncomfortable and upset, so she avoided looking at her, pretending not to see her.

Brenda had hoped to showcase her musical talent and get generous tips, maybe even treat Eugene and her brothers to a nice hotel.

She wanted to impress the audience and win their favor, showing she was talented and considerate.

But seeing Elizabeth ruined her mood.

Serving in front of Raymond felt humiliating. She had hoped to impress him, maybe even date him and leave the entertainment industry to marry into the Gonzalez family.

Now, she felt embarrassed and wronged, almost on the verge of tears.

But she knew she couldn't get angry or quit, or she'd leave a bad impression on the audience and Raymond.

So she forced a smile, trying to appear graceful.

Raymond disliked the subtle looks Brenda was giving him, like he was a piece of meat she wanted.

He was familiar with such looks from women trying to seduce him, but Brenda was more self-righteous, thinking he should treat her differently.

She had tried to seduce him before, and after he coldly rejected her, she still hadn't given up.

To be honest, she disgusted him.

He wasn't as foolish as the Clark brothers. If someone made Raymond unhappy, he wouldn't let them feel comfortable either.

So he told Brenda, "If you don't want to smile, don't force it. It really affects our mood and appetite."

Brenda looked at Raymond in shock, unable to believe he said that.

She felt even more wronged. How could he say that in public?

She thought Elizabeth must have said bad things about her to Raymond, causing him to misunderstand and target her.

Brenda's eyes reddened. "I, I didn't."

Raymond frowned. "I just gave you a suggestion, and now you look like you're about to cry."

He leaned towards Elizabeth, avoiding Brenda. "Don't make others think I bullied you. I won't admit it."

Brenda was furious, realizing how bad Raymond was. If it weren't for his looks, status, and background, she wouldn't be interested in him at all.

Seeing Brenda so aggrieved, Arnold felt a pang of heartache.

He instinctively put his arm around Brenda and comforted her, "He's just that bad. Don't pay attention to him. If you're unhappy, we can quit this job."

He didn't want to serve Elizabeth, Raymond, or the annoying Gilbert either.

The thought of playing the violin for them and serving them made him very uncomfortable.

Leaving now seemed like a good idea.
