Chapter 475 All Directed at Brenda
Enrique nodded in agreement and then turned to Betty. "Mom, you always think you've done so much. You need to change that habit. If you want to deal with Brenda, I support you, but don't use Elizabeth as an excuse." He narrowed his eyes, a hint of determination in his expression. "I'm not as hypocritical as you. I'm also ready to get my revenge."
Enrique used to consider the sibling bond of over ten years, thinking it was his choice to be good to Brenda, and that his current situation was his own fault. But ever since he learned the truth and saw what was exposed online, he no longer thought that way. He thought, 'We've all been deceived by Brenda. This malicious woman has been setting traps for us since we were young, leading us to fall into them one by one. The way I turned out is entirely due to Brenda's calculated schemes.'
Enrique said coldly, "She never considered us family from the beginning, so I don't need to be polite."
Arnold agreed, "That's right, Mom, stop pretending in front of us. Although we hate Brenda for causing Elizabeth's death, we can't shamelessly say we want to avenge her. After all, we bear at least half the responsibility for her death. If we had chosen Elizabeth back then, she might not have died. But I also want to settle the score with Brenda."
The humiliation of being played and the destruction of most of his career made Arnold want to settle the score with Brenda. He also wanted to avenge Elizabeth but felt too ashamed to do so because he knew Elizabeth would definitely disdain them for doing that.
Betty's face turned pale again with anger at her sons' words. She raised her trembling hand and pointed at them, "You, you ungrateful brats. You're just like Brenda, all unfilial children. Get out, get out of here right now."
Richard shrugged. "Fine, we'll leave. If Dad hadn't called us, I wouldn't have come." In the past, hearing that Betty was so angry she fainted and vomited blood would have worried him. But after everything that happened, Betty had completely disappointed him. So his first reaction was not to worry but to think Betty deserved it. Wasn't this just the backlash of her protecting Brenda? And Richard knew, despite Betty's occasional illnesses and fainting, she was actually quite resilient. Sure enough, she woke up quickly and still had the energy to think about revenge.
Kevin said, "Mom, you keep fighting with Brenda."
Enrique chimed in, "Mom, if you keep thinking like this, we won't accompany you."
Arnold nodded, "Mom, we'll grant your wish and leave now."
The four brothers finished speaking and left in unison, leaving Betty almost fainting again from anger.
Betty turned to Paul angrily. "They treat me like this, and you don't care?"
Paul helplessly spread his hands. "Didn't you push them away?" Betty was always like this, blaming others for everything and never looking at herself. He had reminded her several times before not to disappoint their sons. Brenda was not as important as their own children, but Betty didn't listen. Now Betty was treated like this by their sons, wasn't it her own doing?
Paul also felt guilty toward his sons. He hadn't been involved much in their upbringing and hadn't taught them well, so he had no right to scold them. He sighed, "You weren't a responsible mother, and I wasn't a responsible father. So we have to bear the consequences. Try to accept it."
Paul looked at his watch and said, "I have work at the company, so I'll leave now."
Betty tightly gripped the bed sheet and asked, "Can't you stay with me?"
Paul raised an eyebrow. "I'm your ex-husband now. If I stay, it would be inappropriate. It might even hinder you from finding a second husband. So unless it's important, we shouldn't contact each other." He came today out of consideration for their years of marriage. And he found that Betty was actually quite strong and had good self-recovery abilities, so he wouldn't care about her anymore.
Since they were divorced, they should keep their distance. Especially after hearing about that dream and the choices they made, Paul felt disgusted. Disgusted with Betty, with their sons, and with himself. He was so repulsed that he didn't want to care anymore.
Betty fell silent, feeling miserable. She was furious and heartbroken. She cursed, "You jerk, you just want to find a second wife quickly, don't you?" She had truly loved Paul and still had feelings for him. They had just divorced a few days ago, and he was already thinking about a second wife. How infuriating.
She looked at him with a dark expression, suspiciously asking, "Did you already have a lover? Is that why you were so eager to divorce me?"
Paul looked completely honest and replied, "I can't guarantee that I'll find a second wife in the future. But before our divorce and even now, I haven't been involved with any other woman. I divorced you because of Brenda, don't twist the facts. I'm leaving now, take care!" He quickly walked away, afraid Betty would cause more trouble.
The ward was left with just Betty and the maid, and she collapsed on the bed, crying again. After crying, her eyes were full of hatred. This time, all directed at Brenda.
She told the maid, "Throw out all of Brenda's things from the house and change the locks. Don't let her step foot in the house again."
The maid sided with Betty, as she had always disliked the hypocritical Brenda. So she nodded, "Okay."
Then Betty called Leon. As soon as he answered, Leon said he wouldn't help her. Betty was furious but didn't hang up.
She said that transferring the poison bug to Zephyr was all Brenda's instigation and arrangement. She now realized her mistake and wanted to get back at Brenda. She hoped that Leon would take action to crush Brenda's uncle's family, not only driving them to bankruptcy but also leaving them deeply in debt. Then she would spread the word that it was all Brenda's doing. This way, Brenda's uncle's family would definitely hold onto Brenda. She would cut off all of Brenda's escape routes, pushing her into a corner.
Leon was very resentful of Brenda, and the incident with Zephyr needed to be settled. So he agreed to completely ruin Brenda's uncle's family. After all, Brenda's uncle's factory wasn't acquired through legitimate means. They had forced acquisitions through low prices and coercion, then expanded with Samuel and Brenda's help. Then Leon emphasized to Betty that he was doing this purely for Zephyr, not to help her vent her anger.
This deepened Betty's misery. It felt as though the entire world had forsaken her because of Brenda. Her hatred for Brenda intensified, fueling her desire for revenge and leading her to start plotting meticulously.
