Chapter 221 Giving Her Everything
Richard looked all confused. He pushed on, "Our birth times are different from hers, so how the heck could our Generational Blessings get swiped?"
Elizabeth shot back, "She must've handed over your hair or blood to her crew. Then they probably performed some witchcraft to snatch the generational blessings between you and her. All those years you were spoiling her created some kind of magnetic field. As long as you kept pampering her, mixed with what she stole from me, her luck was always on point. Think about it. Wasn't Brenda's luck off the charts before I bailed from the Clark family? Sometimes, it was like she had a horseshoe up her butt."
Elizabeth's hair and blood must've been jacked by Brenda's crew when she got kidnapped.
Wayne must've pulled some strings for her too. With the divination tools Wayne gave her, Elizabeth managed to dodge the bad juju of having her Generational Blessings swiped.
After coming back to the Clark family, if Elizabeth didn't bounce, Brenda would've kept leeching off her Generational Blessings. So, in their past life, after Brenda snagged the variety show that was supposed to make her a star, her luck tanked.
Like, the drama Elizabeth was in had actors who flaked.
The ad gig Elizabeth landed got canned because of some mishap.
Basically, Elizabeth was a walking bad luck charm.
Later, she split from the Clark family to shoot a movie and went radio silent with them. Slowly, her Generational Blessings came back.
That movie had a shot at winning an award, which meant Elizabeth might blow up. If she got her groove back, it would totally suck for Brenda. So, that was probably one of the reasons Elizabeth got screwed over.
Last time, Brenda and her crew wanted to use Richard's blood against Elizabeth, thinking they could really mess her up if they got Richard's blood willingly. However, neither Brenda nor the two witchcraft gurus saw it coming that Richard, after getting a nudge from Hubert, would actually wise up for once.
Hearing Elizabeth's question, Richard racked his brain.
Frowning, he said, "Now that I think about it, it's true. Brenda's luck has always been golden since she was a kid. That divination dude said she was born lucky. So, by bringing her home, she could lend you a hand so you wouldn't have to struggle outside. That way, we could locate you more quickly. She really did have crazy good luck every year." Richard paused, then went on, "She told Kevin to join a variety show, and boom, Kevin got famous. Told Enrique to buy a script early, and that show blew up. And Arnold, she told him to buy a song, and that song became a hit too. Loren once took a nasty fall, and Brenda was the first to find him; otherwise, he would've been toast."
He thought some more and added, "And me, the artists she told me to sign, they all blew up. Brenda also suggested I sign the two people you made Emily kick out of the industry. Covering for them and squashing Emily was also Brenda's idea. And there's a ton of other stuff like that."
The more Richard thought about it, the more he started sweating bullets. All that stuff couldn't just be a fluke.
After he finished talking, Hubert gave him a look like he was dumbfounded. "I told you she was playing you, and you didn't believe me. Now you see it, huh?" he sighed.
Eugene thought Richard and Hubert were idiots, but he wasn't much better. They were like two peas in a pod.
Richard felt like his whole world just flipped upside down. He muttered, "So Brenda's so-called good luck was actually stolen, huh?"
Before Elizabeth could get a word in, Hubert jumped in, "Isn't it obvious? Elizabeth basically said you're being set up like lambs to the slaughter, so yeah, that's exactly what it means."
Richard snapped, "Shut up."
He turned to Elizabeth, inquiring, "How the hell did she steal our Generational Blessings?"
Elizabeth shot back, "Think hard. Wasn't it her who nudged you all into the entertainment biz?"
Richard thought deeply, and then his face darkened. He spoke gloomily, "It's true. When we were kids, she always said she wanted to be a big star and asked us to have her back. She said I was the best and could definitely train a bunch of stars. Back then, I didn't have any career plans, and since the Clark family had an entertainment company, I became a manager. Except for Loren, who went to Clark Entertainment to get some experience, Arnold, Enrique, and Kevin were all pushed into the industry by Brenda."
Richard took a deep breath and continued, "For instance, she always hyped up Arnold's singing and writing skills, saying he could be the biggest star if he joined the industry. Enrique was into photography, and she said if he got into filming dramas and movies, people would love him. As for Kevin, she always dragged him into singing and dancing, and he grew to love it."
He realized as he uttered, "So you're saying our whole entry into the entertainment industry was her and her crew's doing, right?"
After checking the birth times, Elizabeth had a hunch and guessed. Turns out, she was spot on.
Elizabeth replied, "Yep, unlike Hubert, who can compete to be the heir of the Diaz Group, making his Generational Blessings better and better so they can benefit from it. You know how the Clark family trains heirs. Unless something happens to Loren, there's no way you guys would be chosen. Your minds aren't on business, so when you grow up, you'll either be good for nothing or maybe work in a Clark family subsidiary, living off dividends. In this way, your Generational Blessings would be pretty average. How could that satisfy Brenda and her crew?"
Elizabeth let out a cold laugh. "So she saw that you had good conditions, and with the Clark family having a big entertainment company, she nudged and encouraged you into the entertainment industry. The people you bring up become famous, your career goes smoothly, and your Generational Blessings naturally increase. The three of them becoming famous in the industry would also boost their Generational Blessings. And all of this is the normal transformation of Generational Blessings, which wouldn't affect the fans and wouldn't be noticed by special departments or the divination association. Once you're fattened up, Brenda can harvest you."
Richard curiously asked, "How would she harvest our Generational Blessings? We're not like Hubert, nor like you and Rebecca with a seesaw relationship."
Elizabeth replied, "For the people behind her, harvesting you is the easiest. Brenda would ask you some vague questions. For example, if she's feeling unwell or unlucky, could you share your luck with her?"
She mocked, "With your love for her, you'd definitely agree without a second thought, giving her everything. This is your willing contribution, so the Generational Blessings can naturally transfer to her through the spell connection. Since you're willing, it generally wouldn't be easily noticed by special departments or the divination association. You wouldn't think in those terms either. After your Generational Blessings weaken, you'd just feel like things haven't been going well for you lately or that you're a bit unlucky."
Richard fell silent. Turns out, they were the ones who had it the worst.
