Chapter 230 Hold Out Your Hand

Kevin finally saw through Brenda's act. Those crocodile tears, always on cue, had fooled them for way too long. How could they have been so blind to her fakery?

Honestly, shouldn't they be the ones feeling betrayed? All those years of love and care meant nothing to her. What did they ever do to her that she'd want to snatch away their Generational Blessings? For her so-called good luck, she actually wanted them to suffer.

Before, Kevin and Arnold didn't want to think the worst of Brenda and were half-skeptical of what Richard said.

But now, Kevin was really hurt. Not only did she not lift a finger to help them, but she also wanted to harm them, showing zero genuine feelings.

Kevin's face stayed stone-cold. "Is this just a game to you?" he asked, his voice eerily calm.

Brenda's expression remained unchanged. "Yes, it's just a game," she replied nonchalantly, not believing that her brothers would grasp the idea of borrowing Generational Blessings.

Kevin smirked, "Since it's a game, no need to take it seriously, right? Haven't I loved you all these years?"

His eyes darkened as he retorted, "I even cut ties with Elizabeth for you. Isn't that enough?"

That was the biggest mistake he ever made, something he deeply regretted and felt guilty about.

Brenda's face shifted; she hadn't expected Kevin to bring up Elizabeth.

Now, Brenda was genuinely feeling wronged. Did their years of affection mean less than an outsider like Elizabeth? After Elizabeth left, they kept talking about her, not considering how it would make Brenda feel.

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Kevin, this has nothing to do with me. You guys drove Elizabeth away and cut ties with her. What does that have to do with me? I've always been the one telling you not to let her go. I even said, if she leaves, I'll leave too. Now you're having conflicts and cutting ties. How can you blame me for that?" Tears streamed down her face as she said sadly, "Kevin, saying this really hurts my feelings."

Kevin fell silent. Her ability to twist the truth was impressive. He laughed in anger. "Yeah, you're the good person, and we're all the bad ones, okay?" Without another word, he stood up, his face a storm of anger, and stormed out of the room.

Arnold watched, stunned. Since when did Kevin become so smart? If he had known, he would do the same.

But Arnold had the best relationship with Enrique and couldn't bear to see him tricked by Brenda.

Who knew what would happen to Enrique after his Generational Blessings were borrowed? Would he always be unlucky, or would it even affect his lifespan?

Brenda hadn't expected Kevin to leave just like that. It was the first time he had spoken to her like that.

Enrique was also stunned. "Kevin must be crazy. It's just a game. Is it worth getting so serious and then storming off?" he remarked.

Brenda threw herself into Enrique's arms. "Enrique, I'm so wronged and upset. Kevin is in a bad mood and takes it out on me. He's bullying me."

Enrique hugged her and comforted her, "Don't cry. I'll go teach him a lesson later."

Arnold observed the scene, feeling devastated inside. Enrique was really foolish, falling into Brenda's trap without a second thought.

After being comforted by Enrique, Brenda finally stopped crying.

She said as if in a huff, "Enrique, you're still the best. Then give me some of your luck to piss off Kevin."

She hadn't wanted to target Enrique who loved her the most, but with Richard, Arnold, and Kevin refusing, she had no choice but to turn to Enrique. She wouldn't take too much, just a third for now.

Enrique didn't mind this at all and didn't think much of it.

He grinned and said, "It's just luck, I..." He was about to agree when Arnold suddenly cut in.

Arnold quickly glanced at Brenda and blurted out, "Whoa, Brenda, what's up with the freckles?" He noticed her tear-streaked face looked way rougher than the rest of her skin.

Enrique instinctively looked down at Brenda. Sure enough, she had freckles, and her skin was looking pretty rough.

But instead of saying it outright, he tried to comfort her, "Maybe you're just too tired from traveling. Or maybe because your hands and feet are hurt, and you haven't slept well."

Brenda stiffened in Enrique's arms. Could these guys just shut up already?

Before coming downstairs, Brenda had slathered on a thick layer of foundation to cover the spots on her skin and hands.

She'd forgotten about it and cried too hard, messing up her makeup.

So she quickly said, "That's why I feel so unlucky and want my brothers to give me some luck for comfort."

She looked up at Enrique with hopeful eyes. "Enrique, are you willing?" she urged.

Enrique nodded and was about to speak when the etiquette teacher Betty had hired walked in.

The etiquette teacher frowned at Brenda. "What are you doing? Public displays of affection should be more reserved. Even between husband and wife, you shouldn't be hugging in a place like the living room," she scolded.

Then she added sternly, "No wonder Mrs. Clark hired me to teach you; your behavior is too inappropriate. People who know you might think you're a lady from a wealthy family. Those who don't might think you're a prostitute."

Betty had told the etiquette teacher before that she didn't need to hold back and just needed to teach Brenda properly.

Betty also told her that Brenda might lead Enrique and others into intimate actions. If she saw it, she must strictly stop it and could punish them however she saw fit. But she hadn't expected them to be this cozy.

Being someone who valued propriety, the etiquette teacher couldn't stand seeing them like this, so her words were harsher.

The etiquette teacher's appearance made Brenda quickly pull away from Enrique.

After hearing what the teacher said, Brenda was fuming.

Already in a bad mood from being interrupted, she was even more upset by the teacher's words. "What do you mean, like a prostitute? Your words are too harsh," she snapped.

Enrique chimed in, "Yeah, Brenda is a lady of the Clark family. Your comparison is too harsh."

The etiquette teacher's face remained stern. "Your behavior is improper, and you blame me for speaking harshly?" She declared as she approached the two with the ruler in her hand. "I was hired by Mrs. Clark to teach you etiquette. Your lack of propriety means I not only have to scold you but also punish you."

She coldly said to Brenda, "Hold out your hand."

Brenda was about to lose it. Ever since Betty hired this etiquette teacher, her days had become miserable. The teacher lectured Brenda every day and made her maintain the so-called demeanor of a lady from a wealthy family.

She had tried to resist, but Betty said if she didn't learn properly, she would be sent back to her original home.

Although Brenda preferred and felt more for Piper, it didn't mean she wanted to go back to that poor and powerless home.

Moreover, she hadn't accomplished what she wanted to do, so how could she leave?

Brenda had no choice but to endure it. Who would have thought the etiquette teacher would go even further?

She asked in shock, "Are you going to hit me?"

The etiquette teacher explained, "It's not hitting, it's discipline. Hold out your hand, ten strikes with the wooden ruler. To remind you not to have physical contact with any man."

Brenda fell speechless.
