Chapter 483 This Was the Best Retribution
Elizabeth found the matter with Hubert straightforward to resolve.
She instructed Richard, "Call Angela and have her come take care of Hubert. I'll detoxify the poison bug from him while they're together."
Richard nodded and made the call. Angela didn't hesitate and immediately rushed to the hospital. By the time she arrived, Elizabeth had already moved to an empty ward next door. Richard had installed a surveillance camera in Hubert's ward.
Richard and Eugene told Angela that they had other matters to attend to and left Angela to take care of Hubert. In reality, they joined Elizabeth in the adjacent ward to monitor the situation via the surveillance feed.
After they left, Angela walked over to Hubert's bedside and sat down. She reached out and touched his face, her eyes full of deep affection.
"How can you be so heartless?" she murmured. "I've been by your side all these years, so why can't you forget Rebecca? What does she have that makes you think of her so much?"
As she spoke, her eyes reddened. "I love you so much, but you reject my feelings. How can you do this?"
Earlier, Angela had felt the poison bug in her body becoming restless but didn't know why. When she arrived at the hospital and saw the unconscious Hubert, she understood. He had fallen into a coma because he was resisting the love he felt for her.
Initially, Angela had approached Hubert to use him and seize the Generational Blessings. But while he remained indifferent, she genuinely fell in love with him. She found herself ridiculous but couldn't control her heart.
Ethan had been captured by the Special Department and was said to have only a few days left to live. All he left Angela was a pair of poison bugs. Her biological mother, Melissa, nearly broke down when she learned Ethan's true nature. Not long ago, Hubert had exposed Melissa and Ethan's affair in front of the entire Diaz family. He had revealed that the two had been secretly having an affair for years.
Hubert had arranged for the Diaz Group to change ownership and become his. He publicly announced that he was severing ties with Otis and kicked the now penniless Otis out of the house. The entire Diaz family sided with Hubert. They despised Angela and Melissa even more. Otis was so enraged by Hubert that he fell ill. But Hubert showed no mercy and still kicked Otis and Melissa out. Now the two of them were renting a small house, living off Angela's money.
People outside said Hubert's success was due to Angela's betrayal of Melissa. But that wasn't true; it was all orchestrated by Hubert. Angela only found out about the change in ownership of the Diaz Group that day. Hubert had originally intended to kick her out as well, so she couldn't hold back and used the Heartworm on him. She realized that Hubert was ruthless and unfeeling.
Unable to have him conventionally, Angela opted for alternative methods to win him over. As a result, Hubert didn't evict her. She also spread the rumor that her contribution was why Hubert didn't kick her out.
"If you're going to be so heartless, then I won't be polite either," she whispered. She leaned in and kissed Hubert's face and lips. "For the rest of your life, you can only be mine."
Her eyes filled with twisted malice. "If I can't have you, I'd rather destroy you than let any other woman be with you."
Richard and Eugene, watching the surveillance, couldn't help but shiver. Angela was truly terrifying. They couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy for Hubert. They were also disgusted by Angela's fervent kissing of Hubert. They wondered if Hubert would feel like vomiting when he woke up and returned to normal.
Elizabeth didn't share their thoughts. When Angela kissed Hubert's lips, Elizabeth's hand moved, continuously making gestures. She activated the energy previously buried in Hubert's body. At that moment, the poison bug hidden in Hubert's chest suddenly became restless. It felt an uncontrollable urge to leave and merge with the poison bug in Angela's body. And it did just that. It crawled out of Hubert's chest and then out of his nose. While Angela was unaware, it directly crawled into her nose.
Angela was still lost in her kiss, and since she wasn't a diviner, she didn't notice the poison bug from Hubert entering her chest. It suddenly attacked the poison bug in her body, starting to tear it apart. The moment the poison bug in Angela's body was eaten, Angela's eyes widened, and she began to convulse uncontrollably. Her chest felt as if someone was cutting her flesh with a knife, causing excruciating pain. She let out a scream.
Eugene and Richard were startled. They turned to Elizabeth, "What's happening to her?"
Elizabeth replied, "The poison bug in Hubert's body rebelled and ate the poison bug in her body. Now it wants to take over her body."
Eugene and Richard were shocked. They exclaimed in unison, "It wants to take over Angela's body?"
Elizabeth nodded. "Yes, it wants to become the master."
Eugene asked, "Should we do something?"
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "Do you want to save her? But I'm not planning to intervene; this is her punishment for her actions. She wanted to use the poison bug to control Hubert, and now she's being backfired and will be controlled by her own poison bug. Let her experience that; I think it's fitting."
She wasn't that kind-hearted. Angela deserved to suffer for her evil deeds, and she had tried to harm Rebecca multiple times before. So she wouldn't help Angela remove the poison bug.
Eugene shook his head. "I don't want to save her; I just worry that if she's controlled by the poison bug, will she do bad things? Like hurting Rebecca."
Elizabeth explained, "No, the poison bug isn't very intelligent. Controlling her will only make her want to eat and drink, with very low intelligence. Her consciousness won't disappear; she'll be watching but unable to control her body."
She added meaningfully, "Living like that, worse than death, is quite fitting."
Angela and Brenda were similar, inheriting Ethan's ruthless nature. Angela had done many bad things in secret, and this was the best retribution.
Eugene sighed in relief. "As long as she won't do bad things."
In the surveillance, Angela fell to the ground, convulsing. Meanwhile, the unconscious Hubert slowly opened his eyes. Seeing this, Elizabeth stood up and said, "Let's go check on him."
