Chapter 15

Raymond watched the group shuffle in, looking beat. He eyed the eggs and veggies they carried.

"Is this all you got?" he asked.

Kevin raised an eyebrow. "From the way you're talking, did you score big?"

Seemed impossible.

They'd hit up dozens of houses all afternoon and hadn't run into Raymond's crew once.

Raymond smirked. "We didn't trade for anything, but we've got dinner sorted."

Kevin was skeptical. "No trades, but you have dinner? How?"

Raymond pointed at Elizabeth and grinned. "Because we have Elizabeth. Winning was a breeze."

Brenda felt a knot in her stomach. "You won because of Elizabeth?"

How could this be?

Seeing Raymond so chummy with Elizabeth made her uneasy.

Raymond bragged, "Elizabeth fixed the village's tractor, so the chief invited us over for dinner."

Brenda's voice shot up. "Elizabeth can fix tractors?"

Kevin was just as shocked and turned to Elizabeth. "When did you learn to fix tractors?"

How did they not know this?

Elizabeth looked at Kevin. "I've always known. Isn't it weird you didn't?"

Kevin was taken aback. "I—"

In the live chat, Kevin's fans naturally started criticizing Elizabeth for being disrespectful to her senior.

But Elizabeth's fans and some bystanders found her straightforwardness quite endearing.

Eugene watched Elizabeth's blunt response to Kevin and realized she had indeed changed.

But how did she feel about him now?

For some reason, he felt a vague sense of unease.

He said to Kevin and the others, "Let's go back to our rooms and rest for a bit."

Kevin agreed, "Alright."

But instead of following Eugene to their room, he went to Brenda's room.

He asked with concern, "Brenda, does your foot still hurt?"

Brenda, feeling aggrieved, replied, "It hurts!"

Before coming here, Richard had instructed her and Kevin to highlight their sibling bond to attract fans.

So, she acted as she would at home with her brothers.

"Let me massage it for you," Kevin said, squatting down with a pained expression.

He took off her shoe and began to massage her foot.

Brenda leaned forward, habitually snuggling up to him and rubbing her head against his shoulder. "You're the best, brother!"

In the live chat, Kevin and Brenda's fans were calling them a heartwarming brother and sweet sister, saying they were too adorable.

However, some felt their actions were a bit too intimate.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Elizabeth was crafting a beautifully made straw storage basket.

Nancy watched her. "Elizabeth, you can make storage baskets too?"

Elizabeth smiled. "I learned it a while ago."

She placed the finished basket on the table. "We can use this to store our daily necessities."

Nancy picked it up and examined it. "Great."

"When we wash up, it'll be convenient to carry this basket out."

Living with Elizabeth was indeed a good choice.

"I'll make a few straw hats for us to wear when we help pick peaches tomorrow, and then I'll make a few more storage baskets for our clothes."

Hearing this, Raymond smiled and asked, "Will there be some for Ronald and me too?"

Elizabeth looked up at him. "Of course, we're a team. Everyone gets one."

She then picked up some reeds and started weaving. When she finished a straw hat, the village chief's youngest son ran in and called them to dinner at his house.

After dinner, Elizabeth and her team returned to their courtyard with four dishes. They traded the dishes for bedding with Arthur's team.

Meanwhile, another team was still busy cooking.

To be precise, Brenda was cooking while the other three helped wash vegetables and kept her company in the kitchen.

Brenda was very dissatisfied with the kitchen's condition and, being unaccustomed to it, had slightly burned the first dish.

While making the second dish, she added the ingredients too forcefully, causing hot oil to splatter on her hand.

Her hand immediately turned red, and she teared up.

Kevin, seeing this, was heartbroken. "Brenda, if your hand is injured, you shouldn't cook anymore."

Brenda certainly didn't want to continue, but this was a live broadcast, and she had to maintain her image of being strong and considerate.

She had even learned to cook specifically for this show, so she had to show off her skills.

She forced a smile. "It's okay, I can manage."

"Only two dishes left. If I don't finish them, we won't have anything to trade for bedding."

Eugene was moved by her determination.

Lisa, however, found it a bit fake but kept her thoughts to herself.

Kevin shook his head. "No, you can't continue with an injured hand. Go apply some ointment."

At that moment, he heard Elizabeth and the others talking.

The other team had returned.

Instinctively, he walked out and, out of habit, said to Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, can you help us cook two dishes?"
