Chapter 108 This Just Makes It More Entertaining

Paul heard the busy tone and felt a mix of emotions. His daughter, Elizabeth, had just hung up on him, something no one had ever dared to do before.

Unlike Kevin and Richard, who would keep calling back, Paul decided not to. He felt embarrassed and couldn't quite accept Elizabeth's firm attitude. She wasn't acting on impulse; she genuinely wanted nothing to do with them anymore.

Since Elizabeth returned home, she had always shown she cared about the family. She didn't go out of her way to please anyone, but she did take action to show her care. Paul, though busy, would occasionally receive medicine she made, which worked well and showed her effort.

"How did things get this bad?" Paul wondered. He called his secretary in. "Look into the conflicts and relationships between Elizabeth, my wife, my sons, and Brenda. Focus on Brenda and see if she has any contact with the fortune teller hired by the Clark Group. Keep it discreet. No one else should know."

Betty and the sons had always said Elizabeth didn't get along with Brenda and caused trouble. If that were true, it would mean Elizabeth cared about the Clark family and its possessions. But now, it didn't seem that way. Elizabeth had felt wronged and left the family, showing she didn't want anything from them.

Paul started to doubt Betty and the sons' stories. When Elizabeth came back, he had planned to announce her identity publicly. But Brenda got sick, and Betty and the sons had suggested delaying it. Then he met the fortune teller hired by the Clark Group, who congratulated him on finding his biological daughter and hinted that his previous predictions were accurate. The fortune teller advised waiting a year to announce Elizabeth's identity to avoid calamities for both Elizabeth and Brenda and to protect the Clark family's fortune.

Paul had agreed to delay the announcement, but now he was suspicious.

The secretary, surprised by the personal request, nodded and assured, "Mr. Clark, I'll handle it."

The next day, Elizabeth had a gathering with her team. After the meal, Rebecca invited her to a bar. During dinner, Elizabeth noticed Rebecca seemed down but was dressed very sexily. In the car, Elizabeth asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Rebecca didn't hold back. "Hubert's back."

Elizabeth had a hunch it was about Hubert. "Did he contact you?"

Rebecca pouted. "Yeah, he messaged me, but I ignored it. Then he called, accusing me of being irresponsible for leaving my job. I hung up on him."

Elizabeth thought for a moment. "Are you sure you want to break up with him?"

Rebecca nodded. "Absolutely. He called again today, but I blocked him. I'm just annoyed and need a drink."

She wasn't hung up on him; just irritated. A friend had told her Hubert brought Angela Lopez back and introduced her to his friends. It made her feel like a joke. Hubert wasn't a good guy, stringing her along while being with Angela. He had suggested she study business management and work at his company abroad, often controlling her actions like a possessive boyfriend. She had thought she could win his heart but overlooked Angela always being around. Realizing Hubert was just playing both of them made her want to punch him.

Elizabeth saw Rebecca genuinely wanted to move on but still held a grudge. She did a quick divination and said, "Let's go to the bar you used to frequent."

Rebecca agreed. "Sure!"

They headed to a bar owned by a friend from their circle, someone who grew up with Rebecca. Elizabeth knew him too and had a decent relationship. Most gatherings were held there. The first floor was open to everyone, and the second floor was for those with special cards, offering privacy for their circle or people with significant status.

Elizabeth, now quite popular, wore a hat and mask to avoid recognition. It was still early, and the second floor was almost empty. They found a dimly lit corner spot and sat down, ordering drinks and watching the live singer downstairs.

More people started arriving, some they knew, but they didn't get up to greet them. Half an hour later, another group arrived. Rebecca was surprised. "Did you know Hubert and Richard would come?"

Elizabeth replied, "I just knew coming here would help you move on. Didn't expect Hubert to be with Richard."

Rebecca looked again. "Not just hanging out. They seem to be enjoying themselves."

Richard was with Brenda, and Hubert was with Angela, along with other young masters and ladies from their circle. Elizabeth smirked. "This just got interesting."

Rebecca got excited. "Right, right."

She took out her phone, turned off the flash, and snapped a few pictures of Richard and Brenda. Reporters couldn't come up here, but she could provide some material. She planned to take more pictures later. As for Hubert and Angela, she didn't bother. Their news wasn't worth much.
