Chapter 238 A Silent Observer

After bawling her eyes out for what felt like forever, Elizabeth finally got herself together and freshened up. She strolled into the living room and casually grabbed a doll that was just chilling on the cabinet.

She popped open the back of the doll and pulled out this ancient key—something Wayne had given her before he kicked the bucket. He'd said she'd need it someday, and now, with the seal, it seemed like the key to unlocking whatever Wayne had left for her.

The Divination Association had this fancy storage museum for keeping all sorts of divination tools, antiques, and other cool stuff for divination masters or rich folks.

Each locker had its own special way to open it.

The place was rigged with formations to stop anyone from breaking in or cheating their way through.

So, it was basically the safest spot in the country to stash your stuff. Of course, the storage fees were through the roof.

Elizabeth knew she had to get Wayne's things, but she felt like someone was watching her. She decided to wait until the next season of her variety show and planned a trip to Seraphim Heights, where the headquarters were, to keep things low-key.

Rubbing the key, Elizabeth put it back in the doll along with the seal. She also slipped a Concealment spellscroll inside.

Carrying these two items around was a pain. Keeping them in a home safe or drawer was even riskier.

Stashing them in the doll and leaving it out in the open on the living room cabinet as decoration wouldn't raise any eyebrows or make anyone think there was something inside.

Elizabeth pulled herself together before heading out to the film set.

The TV series was in the middle of filming, with Elbert playing the second male lead and her playing the third female lead.

The third female lead didn't have a ton of scenes, and it would take about half a month to wrap up filming.

Rebecca had poured a lot of money into this drama. After getting her variety show paycheck, Elizabeth also threw in a few million dollars.

When she got to the set, filming hadn't started yet. The director was chatting with Raymond, and Elizabeth was caught off guard.

At that moment, both Daniel and Raymond noticed Elizabeth walk in.

Raymond waved at her with a grin. "Elizabeth!"

Elizabeth walked over and asked, "What are you doing here?"

Raymond smiled. "I'm here to play the third male lead."

Daniel chimed in, "The previous third male lead bailed, and I've been hunting for a replacement. Out of the blue, Raymond's agent hit me up, saying he wanted the role."

He half-joked, "I had to jump on the chance."

Raymond was perfect for the third male lead's vibe—handsome with a bit of a bad-boy charm, a laid-back nobleman.

He was the hottest star around, and his involvement would bring a ton of attention.

His acting chops were solid, and since he volunteered, there was no reason to say no.

Since Elizabeth and her friend were big investors, Daniel gave her the full scoop.

Elizabeth said with a smile, "Got it."

She asked Raymond, "What made you wanna take this role?"

Raymond didn't miss a beat. "I heard you took the third female lead role, and I got curious, so I asked for the script. I found that I really liked the third male lead's character, so I came."

He was actually there for Elizabeth; otherwise, his agent had a bunch of leading roles lined up for him, which he had all turned down.

The thought of acting with Elizabeth and seeing her often made him happy.

Elizabeth nodded with a smile. "The script is pretty awesome, and you totally fit the third male lead."

Raymond extended a hand and grinned, "Then please take care of me, Elizabeth."

Elizabeth shook his hand and said, "Sure, let's watch each other's backs!"

Daniel now understood that Raymond was there for Elizabeth. It made sense why a big star would suddenly be interested in playing a supporting role.

Giving them some privacy, Daniel remarked, "You two catch up. I'll go get things organized for filming to start soon."The opening ceremony was already done, and Elizabeth had set the start time.

The drama had been rolling for a bit, and they were now focusing on scenes with the third female and male leads.

After Daniel left, Raymond shot off a quick text. Then, he started chatting with Elizabeth about the script and asked for some acting tips.

About ten minutes later, Raymond's assistant came rushing in with a bag.

Raymond thanked the assistant and pulled out a box of frozen eye masks from the bag, handing it to Elizabeth. "I noticed your eyes are a bit puffy, so I got my assistant to grab these de-swelling eye masks for you," he said gently.

Elizabeth was taken aback for a moment as she looked at the box. She hadn't expected Raymond to be so thoughtful. She smiled and accepted it. "Thanks, I really need this."

She had cried a lot earlier, and her eyes did feel a bit swollen. She had to admit, being cared for like this felt pretty nice. Her ex, Eugene, had never been this considerate.

Seeing Elizabeth's swollen, red eyes had made Raymond worry. "Did something happen? Can I help?" he asked softly.

In his eyes, Elizabeth was a tough cookie. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying, so something must've gone down.

"Just met some of Wayne's old friends today, and thinking of him got me all teary. I'm okay now," she reassured him, appreciating his concern.

Raymond let out a sigh of relief. "As long as you're okay."

Elizabeth took the eye mask to the inner room to apply it. After a bit, the redness and swelling in her eyes had mostly gone down. Then, the stylist took her to change clothes and do her makeup.

Her scenes were starting today.

When Elizabeth came out, everyone was stunned, their eyes full of amazement. She was rocking a red dress that perfectly highlighted her curves and her hair styled in sexy curls. With her fiery red lips, she looked bold and glamorous, exuding an aura that overshadowed everyone else, resembling a stunning beauty straight out of a poster.

Impressed, Daniel made a clear prediction. "When this airs, Elizabeth will dazzle the audience."

Raymond couldn't agree more, captivated by her transformation. "Absolutely, I'm already amazed," he praised.

Elizabeth's allure was undeniable, her presence commanding attention.

The filming of the scene officially began.

Elizabeth's acting was on point, and she didn't need any direction, slipping into character instantly.

Her first scene was in a nightclub, where her character's surface identity was a singer.

As soon as she appeared, her actions were full of seductive charm. She stood on the stage and sang the song from the script. Her voice was melodious and moving, drawing everyone into the scene.

Raymond played a wealthy young man who came to the nightclub and fell for the third female lead at first sight.

Then, the two characters began a complicated relationship.

At this moment, Raymond was also falling for Elizabeth.

After the song, it was time for Elizabeth and Raymond's scene together.

Elizabeth's performance completely drew in Raymond, and it wasn't until Daniel called "cut" that he snapped out of it.

Daniel was thoroughly impressed. Elizabeth's mesmerizing performance promised to attract a massive audience. Her character alone could carry the show to success. He decided to feature several close-ups of her in the show's promotions.

Over the following days, Elizabeth continued filming diligently. Yet, she remained acutely aware of someone watching her, a silent observer, confirming her earlier suspicion.
