Chapter 353 Can I Ask For a Favor First?

Thinking about Wayne made Elizabeth feel a bit down again. She took a moment to calm herself before saying, "So, my two teachers must be at least three hundred years old, right? Their skills must be at the level of a senior diviner."

Only senior diviners could live for two to three hundred years or more. But if they couldn't advance further, that was about as long as they'd live.

Zachary just smiled, not answering. Elizabeth switched topics as she asked, "Zachary, does Brenda have connections in the Diviners' Association? She should be detained and tried, but she's moving around freely. Isn't that against the rules?"

Zachary nodded. "She's got some intricate connections with the higher-ups in the Diviners' Association. Plus, she's not a master diviner herself. Someone else took the fall for her, so she's fine."

Elizabeth pouted. "The Diviners' Association is really shady."

Zachary chuckled, "Where there's light, there's always darkness."

Elizabeth looked at him, asking, "One last question, is Xavier Brenda's biological father?"

Zachary laughed. "You keep asking questions, but this one I can answer. They're not related by blood." He then waved her off. "You should go now."

Elizabeth was too smart and persistent; he was worried she'd keep asking questions. He couldn't handle it anymore.

Elizabeth pouted. "Secretive! Fine, I'll leave then." She stood up, then remembered something and looked at him again. "By the way, since I'm the reason you're leaving Aevum City, can I ask for a favor first?"

Zachary looked resigned. "What favor?"

Elizabeth said, "If Enrique asks for your help to counter Brenda before leaving Aevum City, please agree."

The three had already handed over the blood and hair to Brenda. In Aevum City, she couldn't identify whose blood and hair it was, and she certainly wouldn't suspect it was her own hair. So, she undoubtedly handed the items directly to the evil wizard Amy had found. Consequently, all the effects would manifest on Brenda, and then Zachary would help Enrique reclaim the Generational Blessings that Brenda had consumed. This would be an absolute disaster for Brenda.

Elizabeth wanted to see if the people behind Brenda would help her again. If they did, they'd have to pay a significant price, and the backlash would be even worse. And if they really paid the price to help Brenda again, it would mean Brenda was too important to them to abandon for now. This constant consumption would also weaken the power behind Brenda. For Elizabeth, it was a classic case of killing two birds with one stone.

Zachary saw right through Elizabeth's plan. If it weren't for the fact that she was part of his ticket out of Aevum City, he definitely wouldn't have agreed. He had planned to drag it out and ignore it, but now he had no choice. "Fine, I promise you," he said.

He shooed her away again. "Elizabeth, you should go now." If this kept up, he didn't know how much more he'd spill.

Elizabeth finally smiled. "Thanks, Zachary. I owe you one." She ignored the fact that he was Wayne's elder since she hadn't formally joined the diviner school.

Zachary waved his hand. "Goodbye!"

Elizabeth didn't linger and turned to leave. As she reached the gate of the courtyard, Zachary called out, "A lot of people are eyeing the Gemstone Halo on you. Today, someone who messes with bugs entered Aevum City, probably coming for you. Be careful on your way back to Clifftonshireburg."

Elizabeth didn't turn around, just raised her hand and waved. "Thanks for the heads-up, I got it."

Sure enough, nothing in Aevum City escaped Zachary's notice. It seemed many people were after her.

Elizabeth was strong now but not cocky. She planned to get ready at the hotel before leaving Aevum City. She also had a good idea of who Amy had hired to deal with her. The person who played with bugs was probably an evil wizard. Since that was the case, she wanted to stay and watch Brenda's downfall. After returning to the hotel, Elizabeth focused on drawing spell scrolls.

Meanwhile, in another hotel on a nearby street.

The evil wizard wrapped hair around a wooden doll's neck. He also used blood to draw strange spell symbols on the doll. Muttering something under his breath, a bug crawled out of his arm and into the doll's mouth. A trace of evil energy seeped into the hair and blood.

After a few minutes, while sitting in her small room at the Divination Association, scrolling through her phone, Brenda suddenly widened her eyes. It felt like someone was strangling her, giving her an overwhelming sensation of impending asphyxiation. She also sensed something crawling inside her body. The suffocating feeling made her certain that, unless resolved, she would die today. Her heart raced with fear.

Brenda had only one thought: she didn't want to die. She reached for her phone and quickly dialed a number. When the other side picked up, she could only make "ah" sounds, unable to speak properly.

Gregory Long, living next door, immediately knew something was wrong. Just as Brenda was about to suffocate, he rushed in. Gregory tapped her body a few times and followed the spell's trail back to the caster. He used a secret technique to counter the spell.

Brenda finally took deep breaths, her face pale. She looked at her arm, seeing something crawling inside. Unable to hold back, she screamed hoarsely, "Ah, what is this thing?"
