Chapter 432 Smart Move
Rebecca had seen Amy's reaction coming from a mile away.
"We're only okay because Elizabeth saved us," she shot back, her eyes blazing with anger. "Otherwise, we wouldn't even be here. You don't even care about your own kids. How do you deserve to be our mom? I'd rather have never been born than have a mother as disgusting and cruel as you."
Amy's face twisted in displeasure. She sneered, "How dare you talk to me like that? Is this how a child should behave? You'd rather not have been born? Well, I didn't want to give birth to you either. A daughter as annoying as you, I don't need."
Rebecca's eyes reddened, and she took a deep breath. "Fine, if that's how you feel, let's just cut ties."
Amy's frown deepened. "I told you, nothing good comes from hanging out with Elizabeth. You just pick up bad habits." Though she didn't care much about Rebecca, cutting ties would be embarrassing.
Rebecca sneered, "Are you reluctant or just scared? If you don't dare to cut ties with me, then pretend I never said it. But I'll make sure everyone knows how you let the evil wizard harm Elizabeth and us. Let the high society ladies see how cruel you are. Not even sparing your own children. Let's see who dares to associate with you after that."
Amy's fury was palpable. "You ungrateful daughter, you think I wouldn't dare?" She turned to Eugene, who had been silently watching with a grim expression. "Look at your sister, isn't she going too far?" She hoped Eugene would back her up and dismiss the idea of cutting ties.
Eugene's response was cold. "Rebecca's thoughts are mine too. Mom, I never thought our lives meant nothing to you. If that's the case, maintaining this mother-son, mother-daughter relationship is pointless. Let's just end it."
Amy was taken aback. She exclaimed, "What did you say?" Eugene had always craved her love and usually went along with her. Even though he had been rebellious lately, she thought he still cared deeply for her. But now, he wanted to cut ties too. How was that possible? Was he out of his mind?
For the first time, Eugene spoke forcefully. "I said, I want to cut ties with you. That was the last time I called you mom."
Amy felt a pang of hurt. She yelled, "You ungrateful son! How dare you say that?" She cared more about Eugene than Rebecca.
Eugene took a deep breath. "Mrs. Baker, do you dare to cut ties with us? If you don't want to, I'll post about it on Facebook. You know I have millions of followers who will definitely ask why. Then I'll have to tell them what you did to Mrs. Clark, Elizabeth, and us."
Rebecca watched as Eugene decided to follow her lead. Sure enough, Amy's face turned livid. They were all here to threaten her. If this got out, how could she mingle in high society? Eugene's fans would definitely tear her apart.
Amy snapped, "You really think I wouldn't dare? You two brats, just wait." She was almost out of her mind with anger but couldn't decide to truly cut ties. She took out her phone and called Orlando.
Orlando picked up right away, and as soon as the call connected, Amy's exaggerated, tearful complaints came pouring out. He held back his disgust and comforted her, cursing Rebecca and Eugene for being ungrateful. He suggested Amy take the initiative to sever ties and take the upper hand. Make it look like their ungratefulness forced her to do it.
He also suggested she say that if they apologized, she wouldn't pursue it. Let everyone know she was driven to this by the two of them, and they were at fault. The main point was to threaten Rebecca and Eugene. Otherwise, given their personalities, they would definitely not let it go.
Hearing Orlando angrier than her and saying he would kick the two ungrateful kids out of the Baker Family, Amy felt much better. And she thought that Orlando was right. The two brats were determined to sever ties with her. Even if she didn't take the initiative, they would, and they would ruin her reputation. So she might as well take the initiative.
After hanging up with Orlando, she told the two, "If you want to sever ties, I can grant you that. I will announce it, but you can't slander me. Don't talk about the evil wizard targeting you. Otherwise, I won't agree to sever ties."
Rebecca and Eugene pretended to hesitate, then gritted their teeth and agreed. "Fine, we'll do it your way," Rebecca emphasized. "Don't come to us for help in the future. After all, we're the children you abandoned and have nothing to do with you."
Rebecca thought smugly to herself, 'We are keeping our promise not to say anything, but if someone else exposes the matter, that's not our responsibility.'
Amy snorted, "You two are so ungrateful. What use are you to me? Besides, I have a husband, a dutiful Percy, and caring relatives. Why would I need you?" Both of them were in the entertainment industry and couldn't help with anything. Take the King Family matter, for instance. Eugene had even made things worse. With Orlando around, he was worth more than Rebecca and Eugene combined.
Rebecca could see right through Amy's thoughts. So self-righteous. She looked forward to seeing Amy's reaction when Orlando abandoned her. She emphasized meaningfully, "You said it. I hope you keep your promise and don't regret it."
Amy sneered, "That's what I said, don't regret it yourselves." If they insisted on severing ties, they shouldn't cry when Orlando kicked them out. They shouldn't expect a penny of the Baker Family's wealth.
Eugene found Amy's attitude laughable. He replied firmly, "We won't regret it. Take care of yourself." With that, he didn't want to look at her anymore and left with Rebecca. They hadn't been living there recently.
Seeing them leave, Amy felt a sense of panic, as if something was slipping out of her control. Eugene was no longer under her control, and she feared her husband might be next. So she decided to be nicer to Orlando and keep him firmly by her side.
Meanwhile, Orlando contacted Elizabeth. He told her to wait a couple more days to deal with Amy. Wait until the three sever ties, and then Elizabeth could act. The Clark Family and The Diaz Family would pressure the Special Department to arrest Amy. And he would deliver the final blow to Amy at the critical moment.
Elizabeth was very supportive of Orlando's plan. She remarked inwardly, 'Smart move!'
