Chapter 115 Married a Good Wife
After the banquet, Gregory carried the sleeping Abigail home. He wanted to wake her to change out of her evening dress, which was uncomfortable and reeked of perfume and alcohol, but she was deeply asleep.
Gregory had to call the maid to help Abigail change and take a bath.
The maid was surprised but followed his orders.
Even while asleep, Abigail remained vigilant, clutching her dress tightly. The maids took over an hour, moving carefully.
When Abigail woke up the next day, she found herself in a nightgown, lying in a comfy bed. Gregory lay beside her, one hand on her waist and the other as her pillow, still asleep. She blushed as she gazed at his handsome face, wondering if he had been the one to change her clothes.
Embarrassed, she covered her cheeks and slipped out of bed, heading to the bathroom.
She didn't notice Gregory's slight smile as he opened his eyes once she left. He had been awake but pretended to sleep to avoid making her uncomfortable. Her reaction showed she didn't mind his closeness, which was a good sign for him.
When Abigail emerged from the bathroom, Gregory was already up, changing his shirt. She blushed at the sight of his muscular back and quickly exited the room.
Gregory smiled as he watched her leave.
After breakfast, Gregory rushed to a morning meeting, having skipped his meal. Suddenly, Abigail ran out with a sandwich. "Mr. White, wait!"
Gregory had the driver stop and rolled down the window. "Abigail? What's up?"
She handed him the sandwich. "Skipping breakfast is bad for you. Take care of yourself."
Gregory felt warmth as he took the sandwich. "Alright, I'll eat on time."
Abigail smiled and waved. "Goodbye, Mr. White!"
"See you tonight," Gregory replied, waving back.
As the car drove off, Gregory held the sandwich, his eyes full of tenderness.
The driver glanced back and said, "Mr. White, Mrs. White really cares about you. You're lucky to have such a good wife!"
"Yeah, I'm really lucky to have married Abigail," Gregory agreed, taking a bite of the sandwich.
It tasted familiar, made by the house chef, yet it somehow it felt like the best sandwich he'd ever had.
...
In the afternoon, after Gregory had finished his paperwork, Leo handed him a document and reported, "Mr. White, the manager from the Jewel Summit Group is here to discuss the collaboration. They're in the reception room."
Gregory glanced at the document and nodded. "Let's go meet them."
Leo hesitated, wanting to say something but holding back. He silently hoped that Gregory was interested in the collaboration for the right reasons.
In the reception room...
The manager and designer from the Jewel Summit Group were waiting eagerly. The White Group was a top-tier company, and this collaboration was crucial for them.
Rex Armstrong, the primary contact, looked at Olivia and asked, "Do you really know the CEO of the White Group? Now's not the time for boasting."
Olivia, a designer at the Jewel Summit, blushed slightly but said confidently, "We've known each other since we were kids. He's a bit aloof, though."
Rex wanted to ask more, but the door opened, and Gregory walked in. Rex nudged Olivia to go over.
"Gregory," Olivia said, walking up to him.
Gregory's brow furrowed slightly. He hadn't expected to see Olivia again after her recent threats. Still, he kept his emotions in check in front of Rex.
Leo spoke up, "Let's all sit down. The White Group is looking for new designers to collaborate with, and we've offered the best terms in the industry."
Rex smiled and nodded eagerly. "Absolutely, the White Group is a fantastic company. I'm sure our collaboration will be great!"
Gregory glanced at Rex and tapped his fingers on the table, creating a tense atmosphere. Rex swallowed nervously, wondering if he'd said something wrong.
Gregory chuckled lightly. "I think there's a misunderstanding. We did say we'd discuss things, but whether we can collaborate depends on many factors."
Rex was momentarily stunned but quickly nodded. "Understood, Mr. White. Please let us know your requirements. We'll do our best to meet them."
Olivia, feeling ignored, bit her lip hard and looked pitifully at Gregory, her eyes red.
