Chapter 315 The White family owed Abigail and Michelle too much

The efficiency at City Hall was impressive; the paperwork was completed in less than ten minutes. Elaine felt utterly despondent, giving up her struggle, her entire demeanor exuding defeat.

After receiving the divorce certificate, Stephen released his grip on Elaine's hand and walked away without looking back.

Elaine, losing her support, collapsed to the ground.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at Stephen's heartless and indifferent back, her heart growing colder by the second.

"Stephen, don't go, don't leave me!" Elaine cried out desperately.

After more than 20 years of relationship, she couldn't believe Stephen could be so heartless.

But no matter how much she called out, Stephen never turned back.

For years, Stephen had been threatened by Elaine, doing many things he didn't want to do.

He had long had enough.

Now that he had the photos, no one could threaten him anymore.

The shackles that had bound him were finally lifted.

The moment he walked out of City Hall, Stephen felt a significant weight lifted off his shoulders.

Gregory gently patted his shoulder, unsure of how to comfort him. "Stephen."

"I'm fine." Stephen shook his head lightly, a smile of unprecedented relief on his face. "I've had enough over the years; now I'm finally free."

Gregory's lips pressed into a thin line. "Stephen, you've been through a lot all these years."

Stephen smiled and patted his shoulder. "Alright, let's not talk about the past. It's so late; Abigail must be waiting for you to pick her up. You should go."

Gregory gave him a deep look, nodded slightly, and drove away.

After he left, the smile on Stephen's face slowly disappeared. Grace sighed silently and asked, "What do you plan to do about Elaine?"

She knew Stephen well. She knew that after being deceived and threatened for over 20 years, Stephen would not let Elaine off so easily.

In front of Grace, Stephen no longer pretended, a hint of malice flashing in his deep eyes. "Since she did it, she has to pay the price."

Threatening him was one thing, but the debt tied to Michelle was something Elaine could never repay in her lifetime.

A flash of pain crossed Grace's eyes, and her eyes reddened. "No wonder Michelle seemed so out of it during that time, like she had been hit hard. I thought it was because of problems with David, but it turned out to be because of Elaine."

The White family really owed Michelle and Abigail too much.

Stephen closed his eyes in pain.

He couldn't even imagine the extent of the suffering Michelle had endured during that time.

And all that pain originated from him.

He was truly despicable!

Stephen took a deep breath, pulled out his phone, and made a call to his subordinate.

On the other side, Gregory parked his car at the DM building, waiting for Abigail to get off work.

Employees gradually walked out of the DM building, and seeing the familiar car, they were already used to it.

But no matter how many times they saw it, they couldn't help but marvel at how lucky Abigail was to have a husband like Gregory, who was powerful, handsome, and influential.

It was half an hour later when Abigail finally finished her work and came out.

Spotting the familiar car, Abigail hurried to the window, her slender fingers tapping gently twice.

The window rolled down, revealing Gregory's deep and refined profile.

A faint smile appeared on Abigail's face, and she sweetly called out, "Honey, when did you get here?"
