Chapter 290 The Photo is Missing!
Abigail gritted her teeth, struggling to control the emotions surging within her.
If it weren't for the fact that David was seriously ill, she would have kicked him already.
With a cold expression, she grabbed David by the collar and said in a voice devoid of warmth, "Show me the way."
Today, she had to get those photos to prevent future troubles and ensure that Michelle could rest in peace after her death.
David gasped for breath, pleading in a panic, "Let's talk this out. Please let go of me first."
Seeing David's face as pale as a sheet, Gregory gently patted Abigail's shoulder and reminded her, "The most important thing right now is to find the photos."
Hearing this, Abigail finally eased up a bit, loosening her grip, causing David to fall back heavily.
Led by David, the group arrived at Michelle's tombstone.
David stumbled, his legs weak and barely able to stand, with Leo and Susan supporting him on either side.
Susan didn't dare to breathe loudly the entire time, nor did she dare to look Abigail in the eye.
She knew how much Abigail had trusted her before, but she had betrayed that trust for David, rendering her unable to face Abigail.
She now fervently wished for this matter to conclude swiftly, praying that Abigail would show clemency toward her and David. She vowed never to oppose Abigail again, hoping that, in time, Abigail would grant them reprieve.
Abigail had no idea what was on her mind. From the moment she stepped into the cemetery, her mood had been shrouded in gloom.
She looked at the tombstone so close to her, and at the stunningly beautiful and gentle smile of Michelle in the photo, her vision gradually began to blur.
"Mom," She spoke in pain in front of Michelle, oblivious to everything around her. "Mom, I've come to see you."
Gregory stood beside Abigail, slowly bowing toward the tombstone in front of him. "Mom, I apologize. I had vowed to bring Abigail to visit you earlier, but time eluded me. Be assured, Abigail is in good hands, and I shall devote myself to protecting and cherishing her."
Michelle was an exceptional woman, both in appearance and ability, making many men feel inferior.
Such an outstanding woman had lost her life early, which was truly regrettable.
Everyone present, except for David, showed expressions of sadness and regret.
After talking to Michelle for a while, Abigail wiped the tears from her face and stood up, asking, "David, where are the photos?"
David glanced at the photo on the tombstone, silently moved his body, and walked behind the tombstone.
There was a small space here, specially designed when Michelle was buried.
The photos had always been kept in a hidden compartment.
The most dangerous place was the safest place. David didn't dare to keep the photos at home, fearing that Kayla would see them, so he came up with this idea.
David squatted down with difficulty, tentatively feeling around the crevice behind the tombstone with his hand.
Even this simple action left him exhausted, and his forehead was soon covered in sweat.
When he finally got the item, David's face looked even worse, and his vision blurred, as if he might faint at any moment.
Leo quickly supported David and took the box containing the photos from his hand.
"The key." Abigail extended her hand towards David, her eyes filled with urgency.
David's hand trembled slightly, his eyes panicked. "The key isn't with me. I had someone come to get the photos before, and the key is with him. I told him to leave the key next to the box."
Abigail frowned slightly, feeling a sense of unease.
At this moment, a well-defined hand took the box and smashed it hard on the ground.
Despite the box being of good quality, the lock had rusted from long disuse, so it easily broke open.
The box was opened so easily, and Abigail quickly stepped forward. When she picked up the box, her pupils suddenly contracted.
It was empty inside!
