Chapter 55 Nephew

Gregory withdrew the pressure on him and said lightly, "Oh, I see. Then you should take good care of your phone from now on."

Roman always felt that there was something implied in Gregory's words, but he couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong, so he could only nod silently.

"Well, I will."

Gregory continued, "Abigail came to see you about breaking off the engagement some time ago, but you weren't home. Since you just came back today, let's clear things up at once."

Upon hearing this, Abigail turned her head and looked at Gregory, only to find that he happened to be looking at her as well.

Gregory gave her a reassuring smile and then casually looked away.

Abigail suddenly remembered what Gregory had said to her before.

He said, "Take you to the White Manor to see a good show."

At first, she didn't understand what he meant by that, but now, she suddenly understood.

Gregory had known long ago that Roman had returned to the White Manor.

Roman took in the interaction between the two of them, feeling a bit depressed.

Who was Gregory going to marry? Why did it have to be Abigail?

Marrying his nephew's fiancée, did he know how much gossip this would cause if it got out?

Grace nodded and said, "You're right. We should clarify things. After your engagement is canceled, you'll have nothing to do with each other."

Abigail smiled happily, feeling like the burden that had been weighing on her for years had finally been lifted.

She looked out of the window, her eyes filled with longing.

If Michelle were still here, she would be happy too.

Gregory felt Abigail's sadness and took a step forward, reaching out to hug her shoulders.

Abigail turned slowly and met Gregory's concerned expression.

She smiled softly, "From now on, I'm finally free."

"Well, you can do whatever you want; be yourself to the fullest."

Abigail no longer needed to suppress her true nature and become what others expected her to be.

Although Gregory didn't say the last sentence out loud, Abigail understood it from his eyes.

She was overwhelmed with emotions and directly threw herself into Gregory's arms.

"Gregory..."

Gregory gently stroked her hair with his warm palm, his voice low and soft, "Hmm, I'm here."

He had always been there.

As long as she turned around, she could see him.

Abigail held Gregory tightly, feeling the warmth coming from him as if her battered heart was slowly healing.

Although the scars still hurt, at least she had a refuge.

She had a place to breathe.

In this world, everyone had set a framework for her, trapping her inside.

Only Gregory would say to her, "You can be yourself without reservation."

Watching them embrace each other without a care in the world, Roman suddenly felt uneasy.

Breaking off the engagement should have been a happy thing, but now he couldn't find any joy in it.

He didn't know what was wrong with him, but he felt a sense of betrayal for no reason.

That feeling was unbearable; his chest tightened, and he felt suffocated.

He even thought spitefully, had Abigail and Gregory been together all along?

Why did Abigail have the right to accuse him of cheating?

But then again, before this, it seemed that the two of them had never interacted at all.

Even when they met, they never exchanged a single word.

Abigail had even complained softly in his ear because Gregory was so cold, asking if he had any opinions about her.

At that time, his whole heart was focused on Jessica. How could he care if Abigail felt wronged?

So, he casually said, "How could that be? If Gregory really dislikes someone, that person's outcome would definitely be miserable, and besides, you haven't offended him."

Thinking back now, everything was a sign.

Just as Roman was lost in his thoughts, Gregory suddenly turned and looked at him.

"Roman, since everything has been explained, we can't be lacking in etiquette. Abigail is now your senior. You have to respect her."

Roman was shocked.

He had never thought that his former fiancee would become his senior.

He opened his mouth, not knowing what to say.

Before, when he referred to Abigail, he would call her by her name directly, and his attitude was extremely rude.

But now, she had become Gregory's wife.

Roman felt like this world was too magical.

He closed his lips tightly.

He even resisted with his whole body.

Seeing this, Abigail leaned towards Gregory in a tender and weak manner, intentionally raising her voice, and said gently, "Gregory, it seems like your nephew has some objections to me; he seems not to want us to get married."

After hearing Abigail's words, Gregory's body couldn't help but stiffen.

Hearing Abigail mention marriage, he couldn't help but imagine their future life together.

Abigail's voice was crisp and soft, with a hint of coquettishness in her slightly raised tone.
Her voice was like an electric current, directly entering the depths of Gregory's heart.

He tightened his grip on Abigail's hand, his Adam's apple moving slightly.

Her words brought out all the desires hidden deep inside him.

Gregory lowered his gaze and saw Abigail secretly gesturing to him, urging him to cooperate.

He deepened his smile and quickly suppressed his emotions.

His fingertips lightly brushed against Abigail's nose, with a doting tone, "Naughty."

When he looked at Roman, he regained his calm and composed demeanor and sternly reprimanded him, "Roman, where are your manners?"

Roman was reluctant.

But Gregory's gaze was too intimidating.

Under this deathly stare, Roman was forced to lower his head.

He closed his eyes tightly and clenched his fists by his side.

He seemed to be subjected to a great humiliation.

The room became incredibly quiet. Everyone's gaze converged on him, waiting for him to speak.

He gritted his teeth and squeezed out a sentence from between them, "Mrs. White."

Abigail saw his frustrated look and immediately felt a sense of satisfaction.

She smiled contentedly, "Hmm, you should remember to be polite from now on."

"Yes, Mrs. White."

Abigail smiled, with a hint of regret in her tone, "Actually, according to tradition, as your elder, I should give you a gift when we first meet. But... you haven't repaid the fifty million dollars you owe me yet, so let's deduct it from there."

Roman was filled with disbelief.

He was so angry that he gnashed his teeth and glared at Abigail, "Are you deliberately playing with me?"
