Chapter 480 Just Us, No One Else
Caius nervously touched his nose. "Let me explain."
"Go ahead, you better explain clearly, or don't blame me for being rude to you!" Abigail sat down on the sofa, crossed her arms, and stared at him, with a look that said if he dared to lie, she would deal with him accordingly.
Caius had no choice but to repeat what he had just said, "I really didn't do it on purpose. The mountainous area is too remote, there's no signal, I had no way to contact you."
Abigail snorted. "Stop making excuses. If you wanted to contact us, you would have found a way."
Caius wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and looked helplessly at Gregory. Those two really were a couple; they even thought alike.
Caius said, "It's like this, there are no communication devices there, they live almost primitively, I had no way."
Abigail glared at him. "Did you find the person? You've been there for so long and couldn't find anyone, what's the use of you?"
Caius awkwardly touched the tip of his nose, feeling a bit ashamed. "Don't worry, I've found out that the shaman will be back in half a month, I'll go again then."
The Worthington family's medical skills were well-known in Capitise, but there's always someone better. As long as it could cure Michelle's illness, no matter the cost, he was willing to pay it.
Abigail also knew that everything he did was for Michelle, and her resentment instantly dissipated.
"Alright, considering how much you love Mom, I forgive you." Abigail has always been soft-hearted, especially since Caius did it for Michelle.
Not every man would do this, which was why Abigail chose to give him a chance after knowing Caius was her biological father.
Hearing this, Caius slowly breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, you really are my good daughter."
Abigail retorted, "Stop it, Mom is very worried about you, you should call her back quickly."
Caius nodded, quickly took out his phone, and called Michelle.
Fortunately, Michelle didn't get angry after hearing the whole story, but rather breathed a sigh of relief. "It's okay, as long as you're fine, you really scared me."
Caius quickly promised. "I originally wanted to surprise you, but it turned into a scare instead. I won't do it again."
After hanging up the phone, Caius finally felt relieved.
Abigail stood up and suggested, "It's getting late, let's go eat, what do you want to eat?"
"A lot, I didn't eat or sleep well in the mountains, I've lost weight, I just want a good meal now," replied Caius.
Abigail glared at him. "Who said I was taking you? You can go eat by yourself!"
Caius raised an eyebrow. "Abigail, I am your father! Is this how you talk to your elders?"
Before Abigail could say anything, Gregory stepped in front of her, ready to protect her.
Caius paused, then turned and left with a flick of his sleeve.
Abigail and Gregory looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh.
Caius was getting more and more childish.
After dinner, Caius took a night flight back to Aerilon.
Abigail and Gregory personally took him to the airport. Watching his departing figure, Abigail couldn't help but sigh. "Do you think a person's love for another can really last forever?"
Caius's love for Michelle had grown stronger over more than twenty years, never diminishing. While some feelings fade with time, his for Michelle never would.
The always cold and steady Caius would only panic completely when it came to Michelle, even doing many unimaginable things.
Gregory looked down at Abigail and said firmly, "It can."
Abigail hugged his slender waist and asked, "How long do you plan to love me?"
"Of course, for a lifetime," Gregory leaned in and gave Abigail a light kiss on the lips, smiling as he answered.
Looking into his deep eyes, Abigail felt very happy.
She nodded in satisfaction and continued to ask, "If I die before you, will you fall in love with someone else?"
Gregory frowned and interrupted, "Don't say such silly things, there is no one else between us."
Disliking Abigail making such assumptions, he remembered their agreement to be together forever, in this life and the next. If she left this world, he wouldn't live alone, though he didn't tell her this.
Abigail knew the topic she brought up was too heavy, so she quickly held Gregory's hand and said softly, "Alright, I won't say it anymore, Gregory, let's go home."
"Yes, let's go home." Gregory nodded, his thin lips slightly curved, and went home with Abigail.
