Chapter 439 Can't Get Enough
After returning home, Abigail didn't even have the energy to remove her shoes and collapsed directly onto the bed, too drained to move a muscle.
Gregory walked over, gently picked her up from the bed, slipped off her coat, and carefully laid her back down.
Throughout the entire process, Abigail remained motionless, enjoying the feeling of being doted on.
Gregory pinched her nose lightly. "Quite the princess treatment, huh?"
Abigail hummed lazily, cracking her eyes open just enough to peek at him. She patted the spot next to her. "You should try it too. It's exhausting, you know."
Gregory chuckled and lay down beside her, turning to face her.
Abigail arched an eyebrow. "See? Comfy, isn't it?"
"Not bad," Gregory admitted.
Abigail rolled over, curling into Gregory's arms, wrapping her arms around his waist as she looked up at him. "What about now? Better?"
"Much better," he replied, his voice softening.
Gregory's gaze lingered on Abigail's slightly flushed cheeks, and a flicker of warmth crossed his eyes. Unable to resist, he leaned in to kiss her.
"Gregory! Stop messing around," Abigail protested, squirming slightly as she pushed against his chest.
However, the difference in strength between them was too great. She couldn't budge him an inch and ended up just glaring at him, puffing out her cheeks like a little pufferfish.
Gregory couldn't help but think "cute" as the word popped into his head. His lips curved into a smile, and he couldn't resist giving her a kiss.
The soft touch of her lips was almost addictive. Gregory kept pecking at her softly, like he could never get enough.
This completely woke Abigail up, and she glared at him with annoyance. "Gregory, haven't you had enough?"
"Nope." Gregory's slender fingers gently poked her puffy cheek, creating a little dimple.
He seemed to have found some magical button and played with it endlessly.
He didn't forget to throw in some sweet talk, "A lifetime wouldn't be enough."
Abigail was thoroughly disarmed by his antics. She cupped his face and squeezed it in retaliation, making his handsome face look a bit comical in her hands.
Abigail couldn't help but laugh. Suddenly, she climbed out of bed, flipped over, and lay on top of Gregory. "Don't move."
Gregory raised an eyebrow. "What are you up to?"
Abigail's eyes twinkled with mischief as she said, "You'll see."
She grabbed Gregory's hands, making them squeeze his face just like she did, distorting it, then pulled out her phone and snapped a bunch of pictures.
Gregory's eyes showed a mix of helplessness and affection. Even though it was childish, he didn't stop her.
Abigail quickly picked a photo, set it as her wallpaper, and showed it to Gregory. "How's this?"
Gregory glanced at it and commented, "Not bad. The lighting's good, and the composition is perfect."
Abigail hugged him and laughed. "If this picture gets out, your image is toast."
Gregory didn't care at all. He wrapped an arm around her slim waist and said, "People will just think I spoil my wife. What's embarrassing about that?"
Hearing his unabashed sweet talk, Abigail felt a wave of sweetness in her heart.
She lightly poked Gregory's chest and asked, "You really don't care? If this photo gets out, those women who like you might be heartbroken."
Gregory kissed her forehead. "That's perfect. It saves me a lot of trouble. You're the only one I need. As for other women, I won't even give them a second glance."
Abigail nodded in satisfaction, praising him, "Not bad, you've got the right idea. Keep it up."
Gregory sighed and ruffled her hair. "Alright, get up. The chef should have breakfast ready by now. Hungry?"
Abigail hadn't felt it before, but now that he mentioned it, she realized she was indeed hungry.
She obediently nodded, letting Gregory pull her out of bed and lead her downstairs.
After a couple of days of rest at home, Abigail went back to work. She had been in Aerilon almost continuously, handling everything online.
Even though modern technology makes communication easy, it's still not the same as face-to-face interaction.
So, as soon as Abigail got back, she called a meeting to prepare for the upcoming international fashion competition.
Abigail said, "In the past few months, DM's performance has been outstanding. I believe if we can place in the international fashion competition, DM will reach new heights. I hope we can all work together."
This competition was crucial, not just for DM, but also for the designers themselves. A good ranking would significantly boost their reputation in the industry.
Thinking about this, everyone got excited. The previously quiet conference room started buzzing with enthusiastic discussions.
Lily frowned and was about to step in to maintain order, but Abigail stopped her.
Abigail shook her head. "Let them be happy for a bit. They won't have many chances to relax in the coming days."
Lily didn't quite understand what Abigail meant, but since Abigail said so, she complied and stepped back.
Once everyone had laughed enough, they finally realized what they had done. They had been chatting excitedly during a meeting!
They started to worry about getting their pay docked.
Everyone cautiously observed Abigail's expression, but couldn't read anything from her face, making them even more nervous.
Abigail spoke up at the right moment, "Are you all done?"
They all nodded in unison, lips tightly sealed, not daring to make a sound.
Abigail's slender fingers tapped the table twice. "So, can I talk now?"
They nodded again. "Go ahead."
Abigail gave them a calm look and said slowly, "Everyone has the chance to compete in this international competition. If you place, you'll get the prize money from the competition, and DM will give you an additional bonus."
Hearing this, they almost screamed with excitement again. This was a huge incentive for them!
However, Abigail quickly dashed their hopes. "I've made a list. Only those who make it into the top 100 internationally will get the bonus. This means you'll have to put in a lot more effort."
Hearing this, their excitement quickly waned. Top 100 internationally? Some of them barely made it in the national rankings.
Abigail's lips curled into a slight smile. "I have faith in you. We'll be intensifying your training in the coming days. If anyone can't handle the intensity, you can opt out of this opportunity. Meeting adjourned."
With that, Abigail didn't bother to see their reactions and walked out directly.
