Chapter 414 Thrown to Atlantica
Facing Abigail's worried gaze, Mireille felt puzzled. She wasn't the tantrum-throwing girl anymore. Abigail must be looking down on her!
She snorted lightly and raised her chin proudly. "I won't just throw a tantrum for no reason!"
Seeing her naive and spoiled look, Abigail silently sighed in her heart.
Who knew if this innocence could be preserved in a few days.
On the other side, Caius raised his eyes, scanned everyone present, and said in a low voice, "Since everyone is here, let's get down to business."
Emrys smiled and asked, "Caius, what's going on? Why are you so serious today?"
Caius didn't speak, his gaze fell on Cassian, who had been keeping his head down. "Cassian, you caused this mess. Don't you think you owe us all an explanation?"
Cassian, whose name was mentioned, shuddered and didn't dare to look up. "Caius, I don't know what you're talking about. What trouble? What explanation? What do I need to explain?"
Caius sneered. Since there was no sign of remorse, there was no need to hold back. "Cassian, do you know what the charge is for attempting to assassinate someone?"
At these words, everyone except Abigail and Gregory looked shocked.
Caius continued, "Do you want to explain yourself, or should I do it for you?"
This was his last chance.
However, Cassian still shook his head, refusing to admit anything, "I don't know what you're talking about, Caius. You're framing me, slandering me! I never thought of harming Dad!"
Abigail sneered, her eyes turning icy. "Cassian, my dad didn't say you were trying to harm Grandpa. You admitted it so eagerly?"
Cassian was stunned.
He was panicking inside but still tried to defend himself, "Caius, the only thing that could make you this serious is something about Dad. I heard about Dad being drugged, but it wasn't me. Please believe me!"
Caius crossed his legs, staring at him without saying a word.
Under such a cold and piercing gaze, Cassian's hands clenched nervously, and he broke out in a cold sweat.
"At this point, you're still lying?" Caius hurled documents at Cassian, who failed to catch them, scattering papers.
Mireille and Bruce exchanged a glance and bent to pick them up. Seeing the transfer and drug purchase records, their eyes widened in shock.
"Dad, tell me this isn't true. This isn't true, right?" Mireille stared at Cassian, her eyes full of disbelief.
Cassian stared at the evidence, closed his eyes, and couldn't face Mireille. She had always admired him, and he couldn't bear to see the disappointment in her eyes. To Mireille, his silence was an admission.
She stumbled, tears streaming down her face, shaking her head and crying. "No, I don't believe it. Dad, tell me this wasn't you!"
Cassian opened his eyes and looked at Caius. "I did it. I admit it. You can deal with me however you want, but Bruce and Mireille had nothing to do with it. I hope you can spare them."
Caius looked at him and asked, "Why did you do it?"
"Why else? Darwin favored you. Of course, you wouldn't understand why I did it!" Cassian couldn't help but laugh hysterically, his laughter tinged with madness.
From childhood to adulthood, Caius was always the most favored and noticed. He and Emrys, lacking the talent to manage the company, were perpetually overshadowed.
When he learned that terminally ill Darwin still planned to hand the company to Caius, murderous thoughts crept in. He knew it was immoral, but the potential fortune was too tempting. If he won, he'd gain everything; if he lost, he'd be ruined. Yet, he never anticipated his plan being foiled, and Darwin surviving.
Caius took a deep breath, his voice cold. "Since you did it, you should accept the punishment. Take him away."
The bodyguards waiting at the door rushed in and took Cassian away.
Mireille and Bruce chased after them, shouting in panic, "Dad! Dad!"
Linnea fainted from the shock of seeing her husband taken away. Mireille and Bruce knelt in front of Caius.
Bruce said, "Uncle, please spare our dad. We don't want the inheritance. We don't want anything."
Especially Mireille, who was crying so hard she could barely breathe, her nose red, looking extremely pitiful.
Abigail couldn't bear to watch and turned her head away.
Gregory held her in his arms, comforting her.
Caius's cold gaze fell on Mireille and Bruce, and he said coldly, "Do you know what your father did? If Abigail hadn't discovered it in time, your grandfather might have died."
He didn't call the police, which was already very merciful.
Mireille opened her mouth but didn't know how to argue.
In the end, Cassian was taken away, losing an arm and a leg, and was thrown into Atlantica. As for Darwin's inheritance, it would be left to Mireille and Bruce in the future.
When Darwin found out, he was heartbroken but said nothing.
Everyone said that among his three sons, he loved Caius the most, but that wasn't true.
He was the strictest with Caius, hoping he could inherit the Worthington Group and make the company flourish.
Because of his selfishness, Caius almost had no childhood. All the things and activities he liked were taken away from him.
He firmly believed that only by having no desires could one not be controlled by external forces and thus manage the company well.
In contrast, Emrys and Cassian were much happier.
He had thought it through clearly back then. Caius had already suffered enough and had the ability to manage the company. If Emrys and Cassian were not interested in managing the company, they could do whatever they wanted.
After all, with Caius making money, they could receive countless dividends every year, even if they did nothing.
This money would last a lifetime.
He had planned everything well for them, but unfortunately, Emrys and Cassian were not satisfied and felt he was biased.
Thinking of this, Darwin couldn't help but feel heartbroken.
