Chapter 365 The Eldest Miss of the Worthington Family

Abigail had no idea that in Caius's heart, she had already become someone in need of protection.

She obediently sat next to Darwin, listening to him introduce her to everyone, "Oh, right, let me formally introduce you all. This is Abigail, the daughter Caius and Michelle just adopted. From now on, she's part of the Worthington family. As for the other person, I don't need to say much. This is Gregory, the head of the White family and the president of the White Group. I'm sure you've heard of him."

Everyone looked at Abigail and Gregory with different expressions.

Mireille pouted in dissatisfaction, glanced at Michelle, and muttered under her breath, "Can't have kids of your own, so you just pick some outsider to fight for the family inheritance?"

Caius's face darkened instantly, but before he could speak, Abigail beat him to it.

"Most of the Worthington family's assets belong to my dad. He can give them to whoever he wants. Do you need to interfere?"

"You!" Mireille's chest heaved with anger. "Shut up! Do you even have the right to speak here?"

"Whether I have the right to speak or not, it doesn't seem to be up to you, Mireille," Abigail said, lifting her chin with an air of arrogance.

She deliberately emphasized her words, almost making Mireille crush the water glass in her hand out of anger.

Bitch!

Why should she take away her place in the Worthington family?

She's just an outsider with no blood relation to the Worthington family. What's there to be so proud of?

Abigail proved with her actions that she was not only proud but could be even prouder. She grabbed Darwin's arm and said coquettishly, "Grandpa, you're the head of the Worthington family. Do you think I have the right to speak?"

Seeing Abigail being bullied on her first day back but unable to publicly acknowledge her identity, Darwin felt even more heartbroken.

"Abigail, I'm sorry you had to go through this. The Worthington family is your home. As long as I'm here, you're part of the Worthington family, and no one has the right to say otherwise."

"Grandpa, have you been deceived by this little bitch? Why can she take my place?" Mireille was about to explode with anger!

Wasn't Darwin always the one who doted on her the most?

Why wasn't he helping her this time?

Darwin's face turned cold, and he reprimanded in a low voice, "Calling people bitches all the time, where are your manners?"

Mireille was suddenly yelled at, feeling extremely wronged. She wanted to say more but was stopped by Linnea.

Linnea's face was full of smiles as she spoke for Mireille, "Dad, don't be angry. Mireille just can't accept the change in status for now. I'll talk to her later."

After giving Mireille a warning look, her mother felt she was being unreasonable. Feeling wronged, Mireille stomped her foot in anger and ran out crying.

Darwin watched her leave, unable to hide his disappointment.

It was his fault for not teaching Mireille well, making her so rude.

He looked at Abigail and said softly, "Abigail, I apologize on behalf of Mireille. I've spoiled her. Please bear with her."

Abigail smiled and shook her head. "Don't worry. I won't take it to heart. She's my sister, and I'll be considerate of her."

Darwin showed a look of appreciation. She truly was his granddaughter, so magnanimous.

Not far away, Mireille, who had planned to come back and eavesdrop to see if Abigail was badmouthing her, clenched her fists and punched the wall in anger.

Why was Abigail so cunning?

It was one thing to gain Caius and Michelle's favor, but why was even Darwin helping her!

No, she couldn't just sit back and do nothing.

She couldn't just watch Abigail take everything she had.

She had to do something to teach Abigail a lesson, to show her that she wasn't someone to be messed with!

The dinner was prepared with many sumptuous dishes, and the Worthington Mansion had hired the top chefs in the country.

It was said that one of the head chefs' ancestors was a chef for the king, with top-notch skills.

Abigail ate happily.

But the others weren't in such a good mood. No matter how delicious the food was, it tasted like sawdust to them.

Caius had never had children before, and Marlowe and Linnea had always plotted to give him their son. If Caius reclaimed his position as head of the Worthington family, wouldn't he eventually pass it on to their son? They would be the ultimate victors!

But now, Caius had adopted a daughter out of nowhere.

This completely shattered their plans, how could they not be angry?

Caius could see what they were thinking. The reason he hadn't exposed them was that he didn't want to ruin the superficial harmony in front of Darwin.

If it weren't for Darwin, wanting Abigail to spend more time with him to avoid any regrets, he wouldn't have come to the White Manor.

Speaking of which, Emrys and Cassian were involved in the scheme against him in Aramore back then.

Just because he didn't hold a grudge didn't mean he had forgiven them.

If they dared to target Abigail, he would make them taste his methods!

After dinner, Abigail went to the restroom, and Orson and Bruce finally found an opportunity to follow her.

When Abigail exited the restroom, she found two tall men in a tense, silent standoff at the entrance. Her expression shifted as she looked at them.

"What are you doing here? Is there only one restroom in the Worthington family?"

Facing Abigail's look as if she was seeing perverts, Orson and Bruce felt embarrassed.

They spoke in unison, "I came to find you."

Abigail blinked, nervously swallowed, turned back into the restroom, closed the door, and locked it in one swift motion.

"Whatever you have to say, say it outside."

Were these two crazy?

If they wanted to talk, couldn't they just do it in the living room? Why block someone in the restroom?

Orson's temple twitched slightly, and he explained, "Abigail, I mean no harm. I just have some things I need to clarify with you."

Hearing this, Abigail slowly exhaled. "I know what you want to ask. You want to know why I suddenly became Caius's daughter, right?"

Orson remained silent.

Perhaps he was being overly cautious, but he had to find out if Abigail's meeting with him at the art exhibition was a coincidence or intentional.

Abigail sighed helplessly and explained, "If I say it was just a coincidence, would you believe me?"

Orson pressed his lips together and said, "I believe you."

Although they had only met twice, he believed Abigail wasn't the type to use any means to achieve her goals.

A hint of surprise flashed in Abigail's eyes. She thought Orson had already decided she had approached him on purpose.

She smiled and said, "It's not something that can be explained in a few words. Actually, I happened to go to the hospital that day, and I was in a bad mood, so I decided to take a walk and ended up at that art exhibition."

Hearing this, Orson felt immense relief. He despised deception and needed to uncover the truth. Now, with an answer, he was at ease.

Bruce, on the other hand, had a complicated expression. "You two have met before?"
