Chapter 430 Michelle Ran Away from Home

After the argument with Michelle, Caius remained at the office, buried in work. The disagreement seemed trivial, so he expected her frustration to dissipate in a few days. However, when he finally returned to the villa, it was deserted. An inexplicable sense of foreboding gripped his chest.

He searched the villa meticulously but couldn’t find any trace of Michelle, deepening the crease in his brow. "Michelle? Michelle! Sweetheart!"

No matter how loud he called, there was no response.

Now, Caius truly began to panic. He grabbed his phone and called for the bodyguards stationed outside. When they arrived, he demanded, "Where is Mrs. Worthington?"

The two bodyguards exchanged a quick look, a flash of hesitation betraying their composure.

"Speak!" Caius’s tone was low and tense. "Do you still want to work here? If not, leave now!"

One of the bodyguards lowered his head and mumbled, "Mrs. Worthington went to Aramore."

"What?" Caius stood frozen, disbelief washing over him.

Trying to contain his irritation, he asked, "Why didn't anyone inform me? Did she leave alone? Why didn’t you follow her? Didn't I instruct you to stay with Mrs. Worthington at all times?"

The rapid-fire questions left the bodyguards visibly shaken.

Caius inhaled deeply, attempting to suppress the storm brewing within him, and pointed at them sharply. "If anything happens to her, I won't let go of you."

They said in unison, "Sorry, Mr. Worthington. It was our oversight."

Caius glared at them one last time before pulling out his phone to call Michelle. The line rang endlessly, gnawing at his nerves. Frustrated, he called Abigail instead. This time, the call was abruptly disconnected after two rings. Staring at his phone, Caius let out a humorless chuckle. She dared to ignore him now?

Dialing again, Caius waited until Abigail finally answered. Before he could utter a word, her voice rang sharply through the line. "I know why you’re calling. Mom’s with me. How could you upset her like that? What kind of husband does that?"

Caius opened his mouth to reply, but Abigail continued without pause, "You need to reflect on your actions. Mom will stay here with me for now. Once you’ve realized your mistake, I’ll consider letting her come home."

Caius laughed bitterly. His daughter had inherited Michelle’s stubborn streak.

Before he could respond, Abigail added firmly, "If you push Mom to divorce you, I’ll side with her. Don’t think I won’t!"

With that, she hung up, the finality of the click ringing in his ears.

Caius stared at the phone, his jaw tightening in frustration.

The bodyguards, still hovering uncertainly nearby, exchanged amused glances, trying to stifle their smiles.

Caius’s icy glare landed on them. "What are you grinning at? Leave. Now!"

They quickly retreated, barely suppressing their laughter.

Throwing his phone onto the sofa, Caius leaned back, his eyes fixed on the ceiling.

Just then, Aurelia appeared uninvited, her gaze filled with feigned concern. "Caius, you look unwell. Are you feeling sick? Should I call the family doctor?"

As she reached out to touch his forehead, Caius grabbed her wrist, his expression icy.

"Who told you that you could come in? Get out."

Aurelia’s large eyes brimmed with tears as she murmured, "Caius, why are you always so distant? Can’t we go back to how we were as kids? You’re hurting me."

Taking a slow, measured breath, Caius replied coldly, "Aurelia, don’t think I’m unaware of your intentions. But let me be clear—I won’t help the Smith family. I didn’t marry you then, and I won’t entertain you now or ever."

Aurelia’s lips trembled. "It’s not about the Smith family! I approached you because I care. Besides, I’m getting a divorce."

Caius let out a harsh laugh. "Whether you get divorced or not is irrelevant to me. Stay away from Michelle. If I catch you meddling in her life again, you’ll regret it."

Aurelia hesitated, her gaze faltering. In the end, she turned and left, her retreating figure stiff with unspoken resentment.

Standing outside the villa, she cast a glance back, her expression dark with bitterness.

If not for Michelle, I’d be the one living here. The one wearing the Worthington name.

Inside, Caius rubbed his temples, a dull ache spreading through his head. Without hesitation, he booked the earliest flight to Aramore.

He couldn’t let this rift with Michelle grow. Life without her was unimaginable.

Aramore.

After hanging up on her father, Abigail flung her phone onto the bed, her cheeks flushed with indignation. "Can you believe him? Three days, and only now he cares about Mom?"

Gregory, standing nearby, wrapped his arms around her, his voice calm, "Don’t be too harsh, honey. Maybe he’s been overwhelmed with work. We don’t know what really happened between them."

Abigail’s jaw tightened. "I don’t care. He made Mom cry. That’s unacceptable."

"Alright, alright," Gregory soothed, planting a gentle kiss on her temple. "Remember, there’s a baby in there. We can’t have them picking up bad habits, now can we?"

Abigail’s irritation began to ebb as she leaned into Gregory’s embrace, her voice softening. "Fine. But he’s still wrong."

Gregory smiled, his patience unwavering. "That’s my girl."
