Chapter 420 Using the Body for Warmth

As soon as she spoke, Michelle and Abigail's faces turned cold. Aurelia's impulsive comment revealed her deep-seated animosity and utter lack of respect for Michelle. Michelle couldn't tell if this hostility came from Caius or another source.

But Michelle was never one to be intimidated, so she immediately said sharply, "Mrs. Rainier, this is our private matter, it's none of your business, is it?"

Aurelia snapped back to awareness, realizing she had slipped, and hurriedly explained, "Michelle, don't take it wrongly, that's not what I intended. I was just startled that Caius cherishes you so much."

Abigail stared at her, blinking playfully, but her words made Aurelia feel utterly uncomfortable. "Isn't it normal for a spouse to adore his partner? Aurelia, you've been married for many years, don't you realize that?"

Saying this, she exaggeratedly covered her mouth. "Aurelia, did I overstep?"

She thought, 'Isn't it just about who can pretend better? Let's see who can outplay the other!'

Sure enough, Aurelia's expression turned sour upon hearing this.

But in the end, she forced a grin. "How could that be? You're absolutely correct, a husband must cherish his wife. By the way, I need to discuss something with Caius. Is he available?"

Abigail gestured to the villa behind her. "He's in the office. You haven't been here in over two decades, do you still remember where the study is, or should I guide you?"

"No need, how could I forget? When we were kids, Caius and I often played hide and seek in the Worthington Mansion. My favorite hiding spot was the study, and Caius always discovered me." Talking about the past, a hint of longing appeared on Aurelia's face.

Abigail couldn't help but feel slightly irritated and was about to retort when Michelle said calmly, "Caius has never mentioned your childhood to me. If you hadn't visited yesterday, I wouldn't have known that Caius had a childhood companion."

Aurelia fell silent. Wasn't Michelle supposed to be gentle and soft-spoken? Was this what was called mild-mannered? Forcing a grin, Aurelia took Imogen and departed.

Abigail quietly praised Michelle, "Mom, you're brilliant!"

Michelle was amused by her, shaking her head gently. "I know you're anxious I'll be mistreated, but I want to tell you that I can handle myself. And if Caius ever betrays me, I won't stay by his side."

This was her dignity.

No matter how deeply in love, she couldn't tolerate disloyalty and pain.

Hearing this, Abigail felt reassured.

After staying outdoors with Michelle for a while, Abigail suddenly felt a bit chilly and adjusted her coat.

Michelle chuckled. "Go back inside quickly, don't catch a cold. Gregory would worry about you."

Abigail said, "You should come in soon too, don't overexert yourself."

Michelle nodded and waved at her, and Abigail quickly went into the villa.

As soon as she entered, a pair of warm arms wrapped around her, and Gregory's deep, resonant voice sounded above her head. "Why are you rushing?"

"A bit cold." Abigail quickly hugged Gregory's waist and nestled into his embrace.

The man's body heat was higher, and even through a shirt, Abigail could feel the warmth.

She quickly slid her hands into Gregory's blazer, pressing her palms firmly against his back.

Gregory noticed her little gesture and asked with a grin, "Feeling better now?"

Abigail said, "Yes, much better, let me hold you a while longer."

Gregory bent down, wrapped his arms around her legs, and carried her upstairs. "Aerilon isn't like Aramore; the climate is more distinct here. It's already late autumn, so layer up when you go out."

Abigail nodded quickly.

Gregory carried her to the bed, bundled her tightly in a blanket, leaving only her pink little face visible.

Abigail's eyes darted around, and she suddenly lifted the corner of the blanket, patting the spot beside her. "You lie down too."

Gregory pulled her into his arms. Since moving to Aerilon, he had become more laid-back. The old Gregory was methodical and perfectionistic, never allowing disruptions to his schedule. But Abigail changed everything. After meeting her, his rigid habits melted away.

As he was reflecting, he suddenly felt a cool touch on his chest.

Gregory was slightly startled and instinctively turned to glance at Abigail. She had her eyes shut, pretending nothing had happened.

In reality, her cold hands had somehow unfastened his shirt and were now exploring his toned chest.

Her hands, though cold, were incredibly soft, causing a surge of warmth within Gregory.

Under this sensation, Gregory let out a quiet groan and caught Abigail's slender wrist.

Abigail froze, slowly opening one eye, her voice soft and teasing, "What's wrong?"

Gregory's gaze deepened. "What do you think?"

Facing his look, Abigail felt slightly flustered and tried to pull her hand away from Gregory's grip.

But even though he wasn't using much strength, she couldn't free herself.

Before she could protest, Gregory flipped over, pinning her beneath him.

Abigail's lashes fluttered as she looked straight at the man above her.

Gregory leaned down, his lips brushing hers, murmuring, "Didn't I warn you not to provoke me?"

Before Abigail could prepare, Gregory's fervent kiss landed.

Abigail's clear eyes gradually became dazed, and it wasn't until she was nearly out of breath that Gregory finally released her.

But his hands didn't stop, slipping under her clothes and tracing over her skin.

Abigail glanced nervously at the window, pressing her hands against Gregory's chest, reminding him, "No, the curtains aren't closed."

In broad daylight, Gregory paused, sensing Abigail's embarrassment. Despite his own rising desire, he drew the curtains, ensuring their privacy.

The maids tidying outside noticed the curtains being drawn in the second-floor room and smiled.

"Mrs. White and Mr. White share such a strong bond, always sticking together."

"Young people nowadays are so different from our time. They follow their hearts and never settle."
