Chapter 209 Who Said the Child Is Mine
Gregory turned his head and looked at Abigail, raising an eyebrow in surprise. "Talk about what?"
"Work, obviously. Sure, he's good at what he does, but keeping him around is risky," Abigail said.
She still hadn't figured out what Tom really wanted. His presence felt like a ticking time bomb that could go off any second.
Instead of living in constant fear, it was better to take the initiative, push Tom to lose patience, and reveal his true intentions.
Gregory nodded and said, "It's your call, but try not to be alone with him. Tom's always been a bit extreme."
"Okay, got it." Abigail nodded obediently.
When they passed by a convenience store, Gregory stopped the car, got out to buy breakfast, and handed it to Abigail.
Feeling the warmth in her palm, Abigail felt well cared for, a warm feeling spreading through her heart.
She barely smiled and took a bite of the sandwich.
Gregory kept an eye on her from the corner of his eye. Seeing her eating happily, he asked with a smile, "Good?"
"Delicious!" Abigail nodded emphatically.
Her mouth was stuffed full, and her pink cheeks puffed out slightly.
A ring of cream accidentally smeared around her lips, adding a subtle touch of innocence.
Gregory's lips curved slightly, and chuckled, "Really? Then let me have a bite too."
Abigail found a spot she hadn't bitten and brought it to Gregory's lips. However, Gregory turned his head and bit into the spot Abigail had already eaten.
Seeing the overlapping bite marks, Abigail's cheeks instantly turned red, and she pulled her hand back as if it had been burned.
Suppressing her racing heart, she glared at Gregory playfully and pretended to be angry. "Who told you to bite the spot I already bit?"
Gregory's lips curved slightly, and he raised an eyebrow at Abigail. "You don't like it?"
"Of course not!" Abigail denied it without thinking. She just felt it was too intimate.
Even though they had done more intimate things, her heart still couldn't help but race. Her chest felt like it was holding a lively, bouncing rabbit, uncontrollably jumping around. Abigail felt the temperature inside the car rise significantly.
Abigail silently rolled down the window, letting the wind blow in to cool her down a bit.
Just then, they reached an intersection, and Gregory stopped the car, waiting for the red light.
Seeing Abigail's flushed face, a thought crossed his mind, and he leaned in closer. "So, does that mean you like it?"
Gregory's voice was low and sexy, with an indescribable allure.
Plus, he was so close that his lips almost touched Abigail's earlobe as he spoke, making her whole body tense up. It felt like electric currents were passing through her ears, flowing to her limbs.
Her cheeks felt like they were burning. "Stop teasing me! Just drive your car!" Abigail said.
Seeing Abigail's embarrassed look, Gregory couldn't help but laugh softly.
He placed his large hand on top of Abigail's head and gently rubbed it twice.
When the light turned green, he sat back in his seat. "Alright, I won't tease you anymore. Please eat your breakfast."
Soon, the car arrived at the DM building.
Gregory stopped the car, unbuckled Abigail's seatbelt, and reminded her, "I'll pick you up after work. If anything comes up that you can't handle, just call me."
"Okay!" Abigail nodded obediently. Once the seatbelt was off, she turned to get out of the car.
But before she could, her wrist was grabbed by a warm hand and pulled back. She then fell back into the passenger seat, looking at Gregory in confusion.
Gregory pursed his lips, his eyes fixed on Abigail without saying a word.
In an instant, Abigail understood what he meant. She smiled helplessly, then leaned in and gave Gregory a light kiss on the lips, waving with a smile. "Goodbye, honey. I'll miss you!"
Without waiting for Gregory to respond, she quickly opened the car door and got out.
Gregory watched her leave, his slender fingers lightly touching his lips, unable to stop smiling.
Back in the office, Abigail called Tom into her office.
Tom didn't seem to be in good shape, looking a bit haggard and exuding a sense of despondency. Anyone would think he had just gone through a breakup and was still deeply in love.
But Abigail had seen how awful he could be last night, so she wouldn't be fooled by his facade.
Noticing Abigail staring at him, Tom slowly looked up, meeting her eyes filled with disgust.
He gave a bitter smile and asked, "Ms. Martin, what do you need from me?"
Abigail got straight to the point. "Tom, it's just the two of us here, so let's be direct. I hope you will resign voluntarily."
Tom was stunned for a moment, then chuckled. "Ms. Martin, I've never made a mistake at the company, nor have I done anything to betray it. You have no right to make me leave."
Abigail knew he was a tough character, but she didn't expect him to be this hard to get rid of. She took a deep breath and continued, "I know why you're here. I can only tell you that if you stay, you'll never get what you want."
"What I want." Tom's smile deepened, his shoulders trembling, eyes flashing with madness. "Ms. Martin, how do you know that what I want isn't here?"
Abigail raised an eyebrow and asked, "Then what do you want?"
Tom's eyes flickered, and he leaned in closer. His hands rested on the back of the sofa, pressing his body low.
A little closer, and he would be touching Abigail's ear.
His voice, though clear, carried an indescribable malice, like a venomous snake, hissing coldly in front of Abigail.
"I want you," Tom said.
Abigail's eyes narrowed, and she raised her arm to hit him.
However, before she could touch Tom, her wrist was tightly grasped.
Tom smirked. "What are you doing, Ms. Martin? Every word I said was sincere."
Abigail struggled to shake off Tom's hand, her gaze growing colder. "Tom! What about Tricia? She loves you so much."
Tom withdrew his hand, his fingers curling slightly as if still feeling her warmth.
He laughed nonchalantly. "Many people like me. Do I have to respond to each one?"
Abigail looked at him in disbelief. Although she had guessed that Tom didn't truly like Tricia, she hadn't expected him to be so cold and heartless.
"Tom, you're too much! Tricia is pregnant with your child!" Abigail chided.
Tom sneered, "Who told you that child is mine?"
