Chapter 76 Vulnerabilities
The doctor and nurse took Olivia for a check-up while Abigail and Gregory waited in the hallway.
Gregory held Abigail close, his hand gently rubbing her back.
He didn't say anything, but his presence was comforting.
Abigail quickly snapped out of her shock and looked at Gregory.
"Mr. White, can I ask you something?"
Gregory met her gaze, his eyes warm.
"Sure, go ahead."
Abigail hesitated, biting her lip, unsure if she should ask.
Gregory smiled. "If you're not ready, you don't have to ask now."
Abigail shook her head and asked, "Mr. White, have you ever dated Olivia?"
She'd been curious but never asked before. Everyone had their privacy, and she didn't want to pry if Gregory wasn't willing to share. But Olivia's obsessive behavior and Gregory's question about their relationship last night made her want to clear things up.
Gregory was surprised by her question. He thought for a moment before answering, "No, I've never dated Olivia."
He had rejected Olivia many times, but she kept trying to get close to him. She'd cook for him, give him gifts, and even show up at his office, causing misunderstandings among his employees. He had to clarify things to prevent further issues.
Her threat to kill herself today only worsened his impression of her. He hated threats.
Hearing Gregory's answer, Abigail felt relieved, and her frustration eased.
Just then, the doctor came out and said to Gregory, "Mr. White, the examination is done. She only has minor scrapes, no other injuries, but..."
Gregory asked, "But what?"
The doctor hesitated before saying, "Does she have a family history of mental illness? Her psychological condition is unstable. It's best not to agitate her, and with medication, she should improve."
'Psychological issues?' Abigail and Gregory exchanged worried looks. The situation was more serious than they thought.
Elaine opened the ward door and said to Abigail, "Come in. Olivia wants to talk to you."
Abigail glanced at Gregory, unsure.
The doctor said Olivia's emotions had stabilized. What if she lost control again?
She hadn't forgotten Olivia's furious expression when she lunged at her.
As Abigail hesitated, Elaine's eyes turned cold. "The doctor said Olivia's emotions are stable. Are you really afraid of a patient?"
A sharp glare from Gregory made Elaine shiver. He stared at her intensely.
"Elaine, tell Olivia we have nothing to discuss. I don't want a repeat of today."
Gregory grabbed Abigail's hand and started to leave.
Suddenly, they heard hurried footsteps and Olivia's weak voice. "Gregory, why choose Abigail over me? What did I do wrong? Can I change?"
Abigail turned to see Olivia at the ward door, looking thin and disheveled, with minor scrapes on her face. Despite everything, she was still beautiful.
Gregory glanced at her and said calmly, "Do you want to marry me just because you like me?"
Olivia felt nervous under his deep gaze.
As Gregory walked away with Abigail, Olivia's legs gave out, and Elaine quickly caught her.
Olivia was drenched in cold sweat, even her back was wet. She grabbed Elaine's collar in panic. "Aunt Elaine, what did he mean by that?"
Elaine shook her head, not speaking. She realized Gregory was too dangerous, like a lurking beast.
After a long pause, she hesitated and asked, "Olivia, should we continue with our plan?"
They had hoped Olivia's threat would shake Gregory. Even if he didn't divorce Abigail immediately, they thought he might make some promises to keep Olivia alive. But they underestimated Gregory's ruthlessness.
Olivia looked in the direction Gregory and Abigail had gone, her hands clenched into fists. After a long time, she said, "Continue."
No matter how cold Gregory was, he had vulnerabilities. If Olivia could find anything and exploit them, she wasn't afraid of failing. But first, she needed to deal with Abigail, the obstacle.
As Gregory and Abigail were about to leave, they ran into familiar faces in the elevator - Roman and Jessica.
Jessica looked excited, her cheeks flushed, talking animatedly to Roman. She seemed in a great mood.
But Roman looked upset, wanting to speak but unable to find the right moment.
Jessica said excitedly, "Roman, this is great. Now I can tell everyone I'm married to you, and no one will laugh at me anymore. When will you take me to meet Grandma? I'll have my parents prepare gifts."
She didn't care they were in a hospital with many people around. She stood on tiptoe and kissed Roman on the cheek.
After the kiss, she noticed Abigail standing very close to her.
