Chapter 385 Roman's Apology

Gregory's eyes flickered slightly, and his slender hand cupped the back of her head, about to kiss her.

However, just as his lips were about to touch Abigail's soft ones, a sudden exclamation came from the side, "You two, seriously, can you consider other people's feelings?"

This was so embarrassing!

Mireille raised her hand, covering her eyes, while still complaining.

Gregory was slightly stunned, his actions paused, and he looked at Mireille with cold eyes. "What are you doing here?"

Abigail blinked and explained, "Quinn has something to do tonight and won't be home. She was scared to be alone, so I brought her here."

Mireille, afraid that Gregory would kick her out, quickly promised, "I'll just stay one night, Mr. White. I promise I won't cause any trouble, please."

Gregory withdrew his gaze and looked at Abigail. "Fine, but one thing, stay in your room at night and don't wander around."

Mireille looked at him puzzled. "Why?"

Why couldn't she come out?

Abigail immediately understood Gregory's meaning and blushed.

She pushed Gregory's chest with her hand, warning him in a low voice not to talk nonsense.

Gregory chuckled softly, grabbed Abigail's slender wrist, and said in a low, gentle voice, "Don't you know better than anyone if I'm talking nonsense?"

Afraid he'd say something shocking, Abigail quickly covered his mouth and glared at him. Their intimacy nearly made them forget Mireille.

Mireille pouted in dissatisfaction, feeling a bit aggrieved, but due to Gregory's strong and cold presence, she didn't dare to breathe loudly.

Finally, she glared at them and quickly ran upstairs.

Watching her leave angrily, Abigail couldn't help but laugh. "Look at what you've done, you've made Mireille run away."

Gregory said, "Don't worry about her. We've already been kind enough to take her in; we don't need to consider her feelings all the time."

Saying this, he lowered his head and kissed Abigail's forehead, asking her, "Stephen called me this afternoon and said you forgave Elaine?"

Abigail shook her head. "It's not forgiveness, just that I think she's been punished enough. Everything I did was to seek justice for my mom, not to push Elaine to death."

In her eyes, Elaine could die a thousand times and it wouldn't be enough. Yet, a bit of kindness held her back from deciding her fate. Some hatred, she couldn't avenge for Michelle.

If Michelle never regained her memory, she'd bury it forever. But if she did, seeking revenge would be her choice.

"Yes, your decision is right. Alright, since you've made your decision, no matter what happens in the future, I'll face it with you," Gregory said.

Abigail looked up at him, feeling deeply moved. "Mr. White, why are you so good!"

Gregory chuckled. "Do you really think I'm good?"

Abigail nodded heavily. "The best person in the world."

Gregory smiled and brought his lips close, kissing her soft ones. "Why is Abigail so lovable today?"

Abigail blinked, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "When am I not lovable?"

Her serious look made Gregory laugh, and he reached out to ruffle her hair, leading her to the dining room for dinner.

After dinner, Gregory took Abigail for a walk in the yard, then they returned to the bedroom.

Gregory went to shower while Abigail sat on the sofa, opened her laptop, and checked her emails. Suddenly, her phone rang. Seeing Roman's name, she frowned. Why was he calling? Did something happen with Elaine?

After thinking for a moment, Abigail decided to answer.

However, her tone was as cold as ever. "What's up?"

Hearing the familiar soft voice, Roman pressed his lips together, not speaking.

After waiting for a long time without a response, Abigail frowned even more. "If there's nothing, I'll hang up."

Her time was precious.

"Wait!" Roman quickly spoke, his voice filled with anxiety and unease.

Abigail paused her action of hanging up, her expression even colder. "Just say what you want."

Roman tightened his grip on the phone and said in a low voice, "About my mom, thank you."

"No need. I've said before, I didn't do all this for you."

"I know, but I still want to thank you."

Seeing his mom so weak and miserable was incredibly painful, but he knew her downfall was her own fault. He was just grateful Abigail had let her go.

"Is there anything else?" Abigail asked impatiently.

Roman was silent for two seconds, then seemed to make a decision. "I remember you told me before that you lost all your memories before you were five."

"Yes, what do you want to say?" Abigail raised her eyebrows slightly, wondering what Roman was up to.

Roman continued, "Actually, I've always kept it to myself, but before you got engaged to me, your fiancé was Gregory."

Hearing him mention this, Abigail adjusted her posture slightly, leaning lazily on the sofa.

Perhaps because it was about Gregory, her impatience lessened a bit.

"Yes, I knew that long ago."

It was then that she realized her relationship with Gregory had been destined.

Losing her memory had always made Abigail feel guilty.

Roman's face turned even paler. "If it weren't for me, you might not have suffered so much. I owe you a sincere apology."

Abigail fell silent. Moments passed with only shallow breathing on the line. Roman's heart tightened with anxiety.

Just when he thought Abigail wouldn't forgive him, he heard her say, "I accept your apology. It's all in the past, and I don't care anymore."

Because she neither loved nor hated him anymore, Roman had become irrelevant to Abigail.

Obviously, Roman realized this too, his face turning even paler, and his legs trembling uncontrollably.

"I'm sorry!" he murmured softly.

Abigail was about to hang up when she heard Roman speak again, "By the way, there's something else you might not know."

"What?"

"I remember you told me that you were always good to me because I once saved you."

Abigail nodded slightly.

It was because of this that she cared so much about Roman back then.

"Actually, I've thought about it carefully during this time, and I've concluded: I never saved you."
