Chapter 377 Reluctant to Part
Caius felt a bit uncomfortable being called "Dad" like that. He took a deep breath, his expression somewhat unfriendly. "Instead of thanking me here, you should think about how to protect Abigail."
"Don't worry, Dad. I've always had people following Abigail."
He was meticulous about Abigail's safety. The Frost family discreetly protected her from the moment she left the club. Owning the club allowed him to monitor the private room.
It was because he believed Abigail could handle Mireille and those spoiled but not very cunning noble girls that he didn't intervene immediately.
Seeing Caius's displeased look towards Gregory, Abigail quickly stepped forward, hugged his arm, and said coquettishly, "Dad, I'm fine, aren't I? Besides, I can protect myself. Besides, you were there, Dad. You showed up just in time. You didn't see how angry Mireille was; she was definitely jealous that I have such a supportive dad!"
Hearing this, Caius felt much better.
He snorted lightly and rubbed Abigail's head. "You really know how to make me happy."
As his anger faded, Abigail smiled and winked at Gregory. He smiled back, touched by her kindness.
After Caius left, Abigail and Tricia quickly recounted what had happened at the club.
Especially Tricia, whose face was almost bursting with pride. "You have no idea how arrogant Mireille was before, and how embarrassed she was later. It was hilarious!"
Quinn glanced at Gregory and said with a smile, "Actually, we all knew that Gregory had installed a camera in the private room, so we saw everything you did."
"What?"
Abigail and Tricia exchanged awkward glances. Surveillance footage? How embarrassing!
Abigail scratched her cheek awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Was I too fierce?"
"No, Abigail, you were great."
"Really?" Abigail's clear eyes instantly brightened.
Gregory's eyes were filled with amusement. "Of course it's true. Alright, you must be exhausted. Go back to your rooms and rest for a while. I'll have the restaurant prepare more food for dinner."
After dinner, Abigail and Gregory started packing their luggage.
Clothes were scattered messily on the bed. Abigail stood by the bed, lost in thought.
Gregory hugged her from behind, his chin resting gently on her shoulder. "What are you thinking about, so deeply?"
Abigail snapped out of it, slowly turned to face Gregory, and her eyes were filled with undisguised sadness and sorrow. "Gregory, I feel so sad."
Gregory quickly cupped her face and asked gently, "What's wrong? You were fine during the day."
Especially when facing Mireille, her fierce look was just adorable.
Abigail sighed sadly. "I just can't bear to leave Mom and Dad. Every day here has been so happy. I'm really afraid that once I leave, the dream will be over."
"It won't be. Everything happening now is real. I can vouch for that. Don't you trust me?"
Abigail shook her head. "Of course I trust you. It's just that thinking about being separated from Mom makes me feel lonely."
Gregory smiled helplessly and rubbed her head. "It's not like we're never coming back. We're just going back temporarily to handle some work. Whenever you want to come back, I'll be with you."
Abigail was amused by his serious tone, and her worries gradually disappeared. "As soon as we finish our work, we'll come right back."
If DM and the White Group weren't in Aramore, she would have moved to Aerilon to be closer to her mom.
After packing, Gregory carried Abigail to the bed. "It's late. Get some rest."
Abigail blinked, but there was no sleepiness in her eyes. "But what if I can't sleep?"
Gregory looked at her, his eyes suddenly becoming dark and unreadable. "If you really can't sleep, we can do something else."
Abigail's cheeks suddenly turned red, and she seemed to feel the lingering warmth in her palms. She glared at him and turned her back, not wanting to talk to him.
Gregory chuckled softly, hugged her from behind, and gently rubbed his chin on her head. "Sleep."
Maybe his embrace was too warm, because Abigail soon fell asleep.
The next morning, Michelle and Caius had already arrived.
As soon as Abigail saw them, she ran downstairs and threw herself into Michelle's arms. "Mom, I really can't bear to leave you."
Michelle reached out and rubbed her head, suddenly feeling a bit sad too. "Me neither, Abigail. But it's okay. I believe we'll see each other again soon."
Hearing her mother's gentle voice, Abigail couldn't hold back anymore, and her eyes turned red. "Mom, I'll arrange my work as soon as possible and come to see you."
"Good, Abigail. You're amazing. Not only do you manage a company, but you do it so well." Michelle stroked Abigail's hair, her voice full of gentleness and love, mixed with a bit of pride.
Abigail forced back her tears and shook her head at her. "Mom, you're the amazing one."
She often thought that if her mom were still around, DM would be a hundred times stronger than it is now.
Resentment flared as she glared at Caius. It was all his fault—they wouldn't have been separated if not for him!
Caius felt puzzled when Abigail glared at him for no reason.
However, when he wanted to ask something, Abigail had already looked away and was whispering to Michelle.
Abigail leaned close to Michelle's ear and whispered, "Mom, if Dad bullies you or makes you unhappy, call me. I'll take you to Aramore and let him live alone for the rest of his life."
Michelle laughed and looked at the puzzled Caius, then nodded gently. "Okay, Mom promises you."
Caius felt even more puzzled. He didn't know if it was his imagination, but he had a bad feeling.
