Chapter 299 Am I Awesome or What?

Jessica was already upset about the divorce, and now her anger was instantly ignited.

"Stop trying to sow discord, you homewrecker! Get out of here!" Jessica shouted.

Kayle was David's legal wife. What right did Susan have to be here?

Susan wasn't one to be trifled with. When Jessica charged at her, she grabbed Jessica's hair in return. "I'm the homewrecker? What about your mother? I'm young and beautiful. I can take care of him both at work and in life. Where were you when he was sick and hospitalized?"

Jessica screamed in pain and tightened her grip on Susan's neck.

Susan's eyes darted around, and she suddenly took two steps back, crashing into the cabinet by the bed.

The chicken soup on top spilled over, splashing onto David.

Soon, his skin turned red from the burn.

David felt a stinging pain on his skin, and the noise around him made him even more irritable.

He roared, "Enough! If you're done, get out!"

Hearing David's angry shout, Susan and Jessica finally came to their senses.

Seeing the red burn on David's arm, both Susan and Jessica gasped and hurried out to call a doctor.

After this incident, although Jessica still disliked Susan, she chose not to make a public scene.

The divorce had already taught her a lesson.

Moreover, judging by David's attitude, he seemed to care a lot about Susan and the child she was carrying.

Despite her reluctance, she had to admit that this child was a threat to her.

She needed to think of a way to get rid of this child!

Abigail heard about Roman and Jessica's divorce two days later.

It was Lily who secretly told her.

"Ms. Martin, you don't know, this has become a hot topic, and many people are applauding it!"

Many people were interested in the lives of the rich.

Jessica used to love flaunting her happiness on social media after marrying Roman.

Now that they were divorced, Jessica was severely criticized, and everyone thought she deserved it.

Abigail was surprised as she scrolled through the lively comment section, finding that everyone was indeed cheering.

Seeing her so calm, Lily curiously asked, "Ms. Martin, aren't you happy?"

Abigail raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask?"

Lily said, "Roman and Jessica betrayed you before, causing you a lot of pain. I thought you'd be happy about their divorce."

Abigail's lips curved slightly. "Thinking about it, I should be happy. How about we go out for a big dinner tonight? I'll invite Gregory and Leo."

Hearing Leo's name, a light blush crept up Lily's cheeks. She said, "I'd rather not go. I can't face Mr. White's cold expression."

Gregory could make people nervous just by standing there, even without saying a word.

Abigail couldn't help but laugh. "Lily, you're so adorable."

Lily's cheeks turned even redder, and she blinked shyly. "Ms. Martin, stop teasing me!"

Seeing her so easily embarrassed, Abigail stifled her laughter and beckoned her closer.

Lily leaned in, and Abigail asked, "Lily, what do you think of Leo?"

Leo was always so busy with work that he hardly had time to date.

'I have to help him out!' Abigail thought.

Lily's eyes darted around, avoiding a direct answer. "What do you mean?"

Abigail continued, "Leo is 28 this year, a competent assistant to Gregory. Despite his busy work schedule, he has no romantic entanglements and owns his own residence in downtown Aramore. Are you content with these conditions?"

Lily's eyes widened in shock, and she swallowed hard. "A place in downtown?"

Did she hear that right?

Although she didn't grow up in Aramore, she had heard about the outrageous housing prices there.

Was Leo really that impressive?

Her biggest dream was to buy a house in Aramore, even if it was in a slightly remote area.

Lily's mind began to conjure up images of Leo.

Although he could be cold at times, he was meticulous, caring, and considerate.

The day she got out of prison, she was terrified, and it was Leo who picked her up and comforted her along the way.

Such an outstanding man, how could he possibly be interested in her?

In comparison, she felt so ordinary.

She bit her lip and pushed those unrealistic fantasies out of her mind, replying, "Ms. Martin, I appreciate your kindness, but I don't think we're from the same world."

Even if they tried to be together, conflicts would likely arise later. Knowing the outcome, it was better not to start.

Abigail gently patted her head and softly coaxed, "Don't be so quick to refuse. Leo's background isn't as good as you think. He's an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. He's very capable and responsible, someone you can rely on."

Abigail continued, "I'm not telling you this to make you agree to be with him. Leo asked me about you privately. He's interested in you and wants to know your thoughts on him."

Lily blushed and opened her mouth to say something but ended up swallowing her words.

Abigail smiled and said, "Don't be nervous. Tonight is just a dinner. Get to know him. If you really don't like him, you can refuse. It's okay."

Lily's mouth dropped open in surprise. Was that really an option?

After much persuasion from Abigail, Lily finally nodded in agreement.

After she left, Abigail let out a deep breath and leaned back in her chair, not wanting to move.

Just then, her phone rang, and she saw Gregory's name flashing on the screen.

She answered the call and greeted Gregory with a smile. "Mr. White!"

"What are you up to?" Gregory looked at the camera with gentle eyes.

Abigail quickly recounted her efforts to persuade Lily to join them for dinner, ending with a proud tilt of her chin. "Mr. White, am I impressive or what?"

Gregory chuckled. "Abigail is the most impressive."

"Of course, who do you think I am!" Abigail happily swung her legs, unable to hide her smile.

Gregory smiled along with her, then suddenly remembered something. "Did you see today's news? Roman and Jessica got divorced."

He watched Abigail's expression closely.

But there was no change in Abigail's eyes. "I heard. It was expected. Elaine cares a lot about her reputation. After Jessica was taken to the police station, her reputation was damaged. If Elaine could tolerate that, it would be strange."

"As for Roman," a cold glint flashed in Abigail's eyes, "he talks about love, but he always loves himself the most."

She was immensely grateful she didn't marry Roman!

Hearing her words, Gregory quietly sighed in relief. It seemed Abigail had truly moved on from Roman.

Gregory remarked, "You're right. Roman is just reaping what he sowed."
