Chapter 178 Late

As soon as Abigail stepped into the DM Building, she felt all eyes on her.

Everyone was checking out the new president of DM, curious about her.

Word about what went down in the conference room yesterday had spread like wildfire in the company chat.

No one could wrap their heads around how David got taken away by the cops so easily.

And the one behind it all was David's daughter, Abigail.

When they finally got a good look at Abigail, jaws dropped. 'Wow, she's even more stunning in person! They thought David's daughter Jessica was a knockout, but Abigail? She's on another level. Genetics, huh?'

Ignoring the stares, Abigail headed straight for the president's private elevator and made her way to the conference room.

Inside, the board members were eyeing the project director, Harold Wycliffe from the White Group, clearly puzzled.

One of them finally spoke up, nervously, "Mr. Wycliffe, this is a board meeting. Could you wait outside?"

Why was a project director from another company sitting in on their board meeting?

Especially when they might discuss sensitive company secrets.

Harold smiled politely and said, "We're here on Mr. White's orders to discuss a partnership. You have a meeting, and I have a busy schedule too. Let's not waste time and get straight to it."

The board members, though annoyed, had to agree.

After all, a chance to work with the White Group was too good to pass up.

If they upset the White Group and lost the deal, they'd be the ones in trouble.

Harold, looking pleased, said, "Alright, let's get started."

He and his assistant then launched into a detailed pitch about the White Group's strengths and their position in the fashion industry.

They practically gave a history lesson on their rise to success.

The board members were baffled, wondering why they needed this rundown for a partnership.

Everyone in Aramore knew how powerful the White Group was.

Even without the pitch, DM would jump at the chance to work with them.

But despite their confusion, they stayed polite, listening intently and taking notes.

Just then, the conference room door swung open.

All heads turned as Abigail walked in.

Harold let out a huge sigh of relief, wiping sweat from his forehead.

If Abigail hadn't shown up, he would've run out of things to say.

Thankfully, she arrived just in time.

For a moment, Harold looked at Abigail like she was his savior.

"Now that Ms. Martin is here, I won't hold up your meeting any longer. We'll continue our discussion later and speed up the partnership process on our end."

He greeted Abigail and quickly left.

Some of the slower board members were still clueless, but the older ones caught on fast. Their looks toward Abigail turned a bit colder.

"Ms. Martin, quite an entrance. Late on your first day, making us wait all morning," someone remarked.

Abigail walked to the front, took her seat slowly, and smiled, "The whole company is mine. I'll come when I please. When your shares top mine, then you can lecture me."

The board member was fuming but quickly realized Abigail wasn't someone to mess with, so he kept his mouth shut.

Abigail scanned the room and asked, "Any more questions?"

Silence.

Satisfied, she nodded. "Alright, let's get this meeting started."

The meeting went smoothly. A few board members tried to trip her up, but Abigail handled them effortlessly, leaving them speechless.

By the end, no one dared to challenge her.

After the meeting, Abigail headed to HR and told them to pack up David's stuff. She wanted his office.

The HR director hesitated. "Ms. Martin, that might not be appropriate. Mr. Martin hasn't been convicted yet. What if it's just a misunderstanding?"

Abigail crossed her arms, looking unimpressed. "What, I can't use an office?"

The HR director felt the tension and quickly shook her head. "No, it's just that there are plenty of empty offices. Why not use a new one? After all, Mr. Martin is your father. Why make it a big deal?"

Abigail scrutinized the HR director, who was in her thirties, dressed in a sharp black outfit, pencil skirt, and flawless makeup. She looked smart and capable, but her eyes held a hint of disdain.

Abigail thought for a moment and then asked, "You seem pretty defensive of Mr. Martin. Are you two close?"

The HR director's eyes flickered with panic. "Ms. Martin, I defend him because he's been good to us employees."

Abigail nodded. "I see. But didn't he just cut your salaries recently? Is that what you call good?"

The HR director was at a loss for words, her mind racing. 'Crap! How did I forget about that? Abigail can't possibly know about my relationship with David, right? She's just a newbie. She must be bluffing.'

She quickly composed herself and smiled. "Ms. Martin, I'm sure Mr. Martin's decisions are for the company's benefit. The salary cuts are just temporary."

Abigail nodded, saying nothing more, her disdain for David growing.

David, that jerk, even had affairs with women in the company.

But it seemed consensual, so she let it slide.

Soon, HR cleared out David's stuff and moved in Abigail's.

Abigail walked in, took a look around, and finally sat in the swivel chair, lost in thought.

She was so fixated on this office because it used to be Michella's.

David, the cheating scumbag, didn't deserve it.

A knock on the door snapped her out of her thoughts. She took a deep breath, composed herself, and said, "Come in."

The door opened, and the HR director walked in with a young, beautiful woman. "Ms. Martin, this is Susan, Mr. Martin's former secretary. She can help you get familiar with the company."

Abigail looked at Susan, who was a few years older than her, stunningly beautiful, with a great figure and an air of maturity and intellect.

She had a very pleasant demeanor.

Abigail nodded. "Alright, she can stay for now."
