Chapter 472 Treat You Well for the Rest of My Life
Emrys stared at the shattered ring, his eyes filled with rage. "No!"
He rushed forward, shoving Caius aside, and knelt on the ground, looking at the broken ring, feeling as if his heart had been crushed. "Caius, I want your life for this!"
Caius stood still, and just as Emrys's fist was about to connect, a group of bodyguards rushed in and pinned him down. Despite his struggles, Emrys couldn't break free.
Emrys shouted, "Caius, what do you want? Let me go right now!"
"Let you go?" Caius sneered, his tone full of mockery. "All those rumors online about Michelle and Abigail, they were all spread by you, weren't they? I came back this time specifically to settle the score with you."
Hearing this, Emrys's shoulders shrank, and a guilty look flashed in his eyes. "What do you want to do to me? I warn you, if you lay a hand on me, I will never let you go!"
Caius looked at him indifferently and waved to the bodyguards, signaling them to take him away.
Cliff, now thoroughly panicked, stood up from the sofa, trembling, and tried to stop him. "Caius, stop, stop! Since you know he's my son, for my sake, let go of the past. As long as you promise to spare him, I promise I won't fight you for the head anymore!"
Caius retorted, "You're so old, how can you still be so naive? I captured him, he can't fight for the head of the family, and I get to vent my anger, why not?"
Caius had always been arrogant and self-centered, never caring about others, and this had not changed over the years.
Cliff's heart sank, his face turning ashen. "What do you want? As long as I have it, I can give it to you."
Having lived his whole life with only Emrys as his son, he couldn't just watch him get hurt.
Caius's lips curved slightly. "Since you're an elder, I'll spare his life for your sake. Just don't let me see you in Aerilon again."
Everyone was shocked; this was to drive Cliff and Emrys out of the Worthington family!
Caius was indeed ruthless!
Even though Cliff was unwilling, he had no choice but to agree and nodded to Caius. "Fine, we'll do as you say."
A satisfied smile appeared on Caius's face. "Then go home and wait. I promise to leave him alive."
With that, he ordered the bodyguards to take Emrys away.
Cliff was escorted home by the bodyguards, anxiously waiting for Caius to return Emrys.
Emrys didn't come home until the next morning, beaten unconscious, barely alive, and with broken legs. Cliff trembled as he bent down, tears streaming down his face, finally understanding what it meant to reap what he sowed.
Abigail and Gregory stayed at the Worthington Mansion for a night and heard the news about Emrys's broken legs the next day.
Abigail sighed. "Why can't a family live in harmony? Why does it have to come to this?"
Gregory pulled Abigail into his arms and explained softly, "Human desire is a bottomless pit, sometimes insatiable. Emrys ended up like this because he was too greedy, wanting too much, leading to this outcome."
Abigail pursed her lips and sighed heavily.
Gregory turned to look at her and asked with a smile, "What's wrong, Abigail? Why are you sighing?"
She answered, "I just think it's better to be an ordinary person. The Worthington family looks glamorous on the outside, but it's too chaotic inside."
Gregory chuckled. "The White family doesn't have so many issues, and relationships are simpler."
Abigail caught the underlying meaning of his words and couldn't help but laugh, hugging his strong waist tightly, her eyes filled with happiness. "Yes, so I'm really lucky to marry you."
Gregory's cool fingers tapped her nose. "I'm glad you know that."
Abigail snuggled into his arms with a smile. "Don't worry, I'll treat you very well for the rest of my life!"
Gregory replied, "Then I'll be waiting for you to keep your promise."
They smiled at each other and hugged tightly.
At the door, Caius, about to discuss something, saw this and couldn't help but smile. He quietly left, deciding not to disturb them, and went to call Michelle instead.
