Chapter 424 The Child's Name

Maeve was equally bewildered, completely unaware of what had just unfolde

How could it be that in just a matter of minutes, the supervisor and restaurant managerwho had been tormenting her were suddenly dismissed?

She wanted to express her gratitude to Quinn, but he didn’t even spare her a glance before turning and walking away.

The next morning, when Abigail heard about it, she looked regretful: "I can’t believe I missed it. Why didn’t you wake me up?"

Gregory, who was unexpectedly blamed, smiled helplessly: "If I had actually woken you, would I still be allowed to sleep in our room tonight?"

Abigail’s cheeks flushed red, and she had no comeback.

Gregory offered her a peeled apple, "Want some?"

Abigail shook her head vigorously, leaning back and making a dismissive gesture. "No, I’m too full. I can’t eat anything else."

Gregory set the fruit knife down, leaned over, and pressed his face against her soft belly. "Really? Let me check."

Abigail was wearing a spaghetti-strap nightgown, the thin fabric barely a barrier.

When Gregory leaned in, his warm breath seeped through the material, heating her skin.

Abigail’s blush deepened, and she fidgeted slightly, "Are you done?"

Gregory tilted his head up to look at her, smiling gently. "No, darling, you’re too slender. At three months, your belly should be showing a bit, but it’s still so flat."

Staring at Abigail’s flat abdomen, Gregory frowned slightly, pondering whether the meals he’d been preparing lacked sufficient nutrition.

Seeing him so troubled, Abigail couldn’t help but laugh and sigh at the same time: "The doctor said it’s normal; you don’t need to overthink it."

"Really?" Gregory wasn’t convinced and immediately called their family doctor.

After the doctor repeatedly confirmed that Abigail’s health was perfectly fine, Gregory finally relaxed.

After hanging up, Abigail chuckled, "See? I told you. I know my body. If something felt wrong, I’d tell you right away. So don’t stress."

Gregory was quiet for a moment before lying back against Abigail’s legs, gently nuzzling her belly with his cheek.

"This is our first child. I just want it to be born safely and grow up healthy."

Abigail placed a delicate hand on his face, nodding firmly, "It will be."

After a brief pause, she suddenly said, "Since the baby isn’t born yet, why don’t we think of a name now? That way, we won’t have to rush later."

Gregory’s lips curved slightly, his dark eyes glinting with excitement. "I’ve already thought of one. Let’s call her Lila White."

He looked at Abigail expectantly, waiting for her approval. "What do you think? Do you like it?"

Abigail pondered for a moment before nodding slowly, "It’s a lovely name, but..."

Gregory: "What’s the problem?"

"That name sounds like it’s for a girl. What if the baby’s a boy?"

Gregory didn’t hesitate, "That’s impossible."

He had an unshakable hunch that the baby would be a girl.

Seeing his stubbornness, Abigail couldn’t help but laugh. "But we should have a backup plan. Just in case, let’s think of another name."

Gregory began suggesting random, quirky names.

Abigail froze for a second, her face filled with exasperation. She lightly punched his chest. "I’m serious about this! Don’t make a joke out of it. The doctor said the baby might already hear us talking."

Gregory immediately stopped, his expression sobering.

The doctor had mentioned that the baby’s auditory system started developing around the second month, and now that it was three months, it was plausible the baby could hear them.

Although he hoped for a daughter, if it turned out to be a son, he would still cherish the child.

After a long pause, Gregory finally suggested, "What about Everett White?"

Abigail’s expression softened, and she nodded in satisfaction, "That’s a wonderful choice. We’ll wait and see which name fits when the time comes."

Gregory wrapped Abigail in his arms, speaking with conviction, "Trust me, it’s a girl."

Abigail chuckled and patted his shoulder. "I have a check-up with Tricia tomorrow. Would you like to come along?"

"So soon?" Gregory seemed surprised. He still had the report from her last visit saved and often took it out to admire.

Abigail touched her belly, her gaze tender. "We’ve been traveling back and forth between Aramore and Aerilon this past month. Time has flown."

Gregory cupped her cheeks and kissed her gently, "I’ll come with you tomorrow."

"Good."

The next morning, Abigail and Gregory drove to the hospital to meet Henry. From afar, they saw Tricia waving enthusiastically.

Abigail dashed over and hugged her tightly.

Gregory followed closely behind, his eyes fixed on Abigail, ready to catch her if she stumbled.

Since Abigail’s pregnancy, all her high heels had been stored away by Gregory. Anything remotely risky for her or the baby’s health had been removed, showcasing Gregory’s unwavering care.

Seeing the two women embrace so energetically, Gregory couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy. "Didn’t you just see each other yesterday? Why are you acting like it’s been years?"

His Abigail never hugged him that enthusiastically!

Gregory realized, after marriage, that he not only had to guard against rivals but also her friends!

Henry seemed to share the sentiment, exchanging a glance with Gregory. Smiling bitterly, he said, "It’s a girl thing. Just let them hug it out. When we get home, we’ll get our turn."

Gregory cast a sidelong glance at him but said nothing.

The jealousy radiating off him was palpable, and Abigail noticed immediately. She quickly let go of Tricia and wrapped her arms around Gregory’s waist, coaxing him softly, "Honey, don’t be jealous. You’re the one I love the most!"

Hearing her sweet reassurance, Gregory’s irritation vanished instantly. His lips curled into a grin. "Say it again."

Abigail stood on tiptoe and kissed the corner of his lips. "I said, you’re the one I love the most!"

Just as she pulled away, Gregory wrapped his arms tightly around her, pressing her close, and kissed her deeply, giving her no chance to escape.

Abigail let out a muffled sound of protest, her cheeks blazing. She tried to push him away, whispering frantically, "There are people watching!"

Gregory stopped but wore an expression of dissatisfaction.

Tricia and Henry exchanged knowing smiles. "Alright, save the romance for later. Let’s head upstairs; the doctor is waiting."

Abigail shot Gregory a playful glare, her tone half-scolding, "Behave, or I won’t bring you next time!"
