Chapter 468 Relinquishing the Position of Head of the Worthington Family
Looking at Caius's face suddenly falling, Michelle gave Abigail a look and said, "Alright, you two stop it. Abigail, are you hungry? Hurry and get the chef to make something to eat."
After saying that, she stood on tiptoe, reached out, and rubbed Caius's head, coaxing, "Don't be mad, I won't make you sleep in the study."
Though the last sentence was whispered, Caius heard it clearly. His dejected aura vanished, replaced by a faint smile. He knew it—Michelle could never let him sleep alone.
Seeing his smug look, Abigail quickly looked away, showing disdain.
At this moment, footsteps were heard outside the door. Gregory's tall and upright figure walked in, glanced around the living room, and finally landed on Abigail. "What are you talking about that's making you so happy?"
"Darling!" As soon as Abigail saw him, her eyes lit up, and she ran into his arms.
Gregory opened his arms, caught her steadily, and kissed her on the forehead. "It's only been two hours, and you already miss me?"
"Yes. I missed you a lot." Abigail kept nodding.
If Gregory hadn't come, she would've been stuck watching her parents being affectionate, and she definitely didn't want that!
Gregory dotingly tapped her nose and said helplessly, "I went back to the office to get a document. I was going to pick you up from work, but you came here yourself. Is this what you call missing me?"
Abigail blinked, her clear eyes full of innocence. "Why doesn't it count?"
Grace looked at them, her eyes full of loving and gratified smiles. As she got older, her greatest wish was to see her family happy and harmonious. Now, those wishes had basically come true.
Soon, the chef had prepared lunch. With the help of Abigail and Michelle, Grace stood up and said, "Alright, everyone is hungry, let's go eat."
The group sat down at the dining table. Looking at the table full of her favorite dishes, Abigail couldn't help but feel warm inside.
No matter when, Grace always showed her love through actions, not only remembering what she liked to eat but also always caring for her.
Just as the servant said, such a good elder was rare.
Halfway through the meal, while everyone was chatting, a phone suddenly rang. Everyone looked over to see Caius picking up the phone. "What's up?"
No one knew what was said on the other end, but Caius's face visibly darkened, and an uncontrollable anger surrounded him.
Abigail and Gregory exchanged glances. When Caius hung up, she couldn't help but ask, "Dad, did something happen in Aerilon?"
Caius put the phone back on the table, his expression heavy and serious, and said word by word, "My assistant called to say that Emrys has returned home."
Michelle frowned slowly upon hearing this. "He actually dared to come back. I really underestimated him."
Caius sneered, his deep voice chilling. "Not just that, but he also invited all the elders and collateral branches of the Worthington family to the mansion, seeking their support."
Abigail asked, "What is Emrys planning to do?"
Caius answered, "Not sure, but it seems we can't stay in Aramore any longer. I have to leave for Aerilon immediately."
"I'll go with you." Michelle quickly stood up.
Caius's eyes flickered, and just as he was about to refuse, Michelle interrupted him, "I feel like this time, Emrys is coming for me. It's not a solution to always hide behind you. Let me go with you."
Caius pondered for a moment and slowly nodded.
No matter what happened, he could protect Michelle.
Seeing this, Abigail and Gregory also stood up. Abigail said, "We'll go with you too. Emrys is making such a big move this time, he must have other plans. We can't be at ease."
Gregory also agreed, "The more people, the more strength. If he really means harm to you, I can also mobilize the Frost family's people to help you."
Seeing their determined attitude, Caius couldn't refuse. After saying goodbye to Grace, they left in a hurry.
A few hours later, the plane landed at Aerilon Airport, and it was already dark outside.
They didn't dare delay and immediately drove back to Worthington Mansion, where a few elders couldn't help but complain.
"What's going on with Caius? Making us wait so long, he's getting more and more unruly!"
"Does he really think that becoming the head of the Worthington family means he can do whatever he wants and ignore us elders?"
"Head of the family? It is still uncertain."
Everyone knew the purpose of coming here today.
Although Darwin handed the Worthington family over to Caius after his death, becoming the head was not easy.
After waiting for a long time, Caius finally walked in. His cold gaze swept across the crowded hall. "Oh, everyone is here?"
Darwin's uncle, Cliff Worthington, said, "Caius, you're finally back. We've been waiting for you."
Caius looked at him and nodded slightly. "Sorry to keep you waiting. What brings you here this time?"Cliff glanced at his subordinates and snorted. "They say you're the head of the Worthington family, but according to our family's rules, without the ancestral token, no one is qualified to inherit the position of the head."
