Chapter 81 Seems to Have Fallen for Gregory
Hearing the question, Olivia's expression twisted with disdain.
'So, Abigail married Gregory for money. Perfect.,' she thought.
Olivia lifted her chin arrogantly and said, "Is ten million dollars enough?"
That ten million was all her savings, a gift from Elaine. It hurt to offer it, but if it got Abigail to divorce Gregory, it was worth it.
She started to feel relieved. Compared to Gregory, ten million was nothing.
Abigail sneered, "My husband's worth billions. As Mrs. White, half of that is mine. You think ten million will make me leave?"
Olivia's jaw clenched as her expression became even colder. "Then what will it take for you to leave Gregory?"
Abigail replied, "Ms. Parker, my husband and I are happy. Why would I leave him just because you tell me to?"
Olivia was speechless, clenching her teeth. She never expected Abigail to be so tough.
She used to think Abigail was meek and obedient, even weak. No matter the rumors about Roman, she stayed loyal, like someone easily controlled.
But now, Abigail seemed like a different person.
What Olivia didn't know was that Abigail had endured Roman not out of love, but because it was Michelle's dying wish.
Now, disappointed in the Martin family, she had no reason to endure or compromise anymore.
Olivia took a deep breath and sat up quickly, pulling her wound. She gasped in pain, her resentment toward Abigail growing.
She said coldly, "Don't you find it strange Gregory is thirty and still not married? Do you really think he likes you that much?"
Abigail was stunned. She had wondered about that but never found an answer. Gregory never talked about past relationships. There were rumors he had fertility issues.
Abigail asked, "What are you trying to say?"
Olivia snorted, saying in tone full of arrogance and mockery, "You don't know, do you? Gregory has always loved one woman. He hasn't married or been close to anyone else because of her."
Abigail was shocked but quickly calmed down. "He's thirty. It's not surprising he liked someone before."
If Gregory had no interest in women, then she'd worry. This information proved those rumors false.
Still, she was curious about the woman Gregory had loved for so many years. Along with curiosity, she felt a hint of jealousy and disappointment.
These emotions hit her suddenly, leaving her confused.
Olivia had imagined countless scenarios but never thought Abigail would stay so calm.
Surprised, she asked, "You really don't care? Your husband loves another woman."
Abigail smiled faintly. "Of course, I care."
Olivia felt a bit relieved. No woman could be indifferent if her husband loved someone else.
But then Abigail added, "But that's in the past. As long as he loves me now, that's enough. Thanks for your concern, Ms. Parker, but you don't need to worry about us anymore."
With that, she hung up, not giving Olivia a chance to respond.
Listening to the end-call tone, Olivia was stunned, eyes wide with disbelief. She angrily tossed her phone aside, fuming. She had never met someone as stubborn as Abigail. She needed a new plan to make Abigail give up.
Meanwhile, Abigail wasn't as calm as she seemed. Lying in bed, her mind raced, wondering who Gregory's old flame was.
Over the years, she'd visit the White family and chat with Mrs. Grace, who sometimes mentioned Gregory but never his past love.
Though she acted indifferent with Olivia, alone, she couldn't stop overthinking. She felt a mix of loss and grievance.
If Gregory really loved another woman, what did his words last night mean? And what did she mean to him?
Gregory came out of the bathroom to find Abigail already in bed, facing away from him.
"Abigail, are you asleep?" he asked.
Silence greeted him.
Gregory sighed, pinching his glabella. He had prepared so much for tonight. He even bought several boxes of condoms and washed himself twice.
Just thinking about Abigail made his desire surge uncontrollably. He looked at her back, then at his own arousal, feeling frustrated.
After a long silence, Abigail, eyes tightly shut, slowly opened them. Her lashes trembled, and her eyes were moist, but she refused to turn around, not wanting Gregory to see her vulnerability.
She wasn't stupid. Though they hadn't spent much time together, her concern for Gregory had grown unexpectedly. She seemed to have developed feelings for him.
So why did she have to learn that he loved someone else just when she realized her feelings for him? What did she mean to him? A pastime? A decoration?
The more she thought, the more uncomfortable she felt. She sniffed, trying to hold back tears.
Then, a warm body leaned over, and Gregory hugged her tightly from behind.
"Abigail, I know you're not asleep. Have you thought about what I said last night?"
