Chapter 316 Unexpected Incident at the Fashion Show
Gregory's deep eyes flickered slightly, quickly concealing a complex expression. "I just got here. Get in the car."
Abigail hurriedly walked around to the passenger seat and got in, smiling as she suggested, "I heard from the staff that a new restaurant just opened recently. How about we go there to eat?"
Gregory nodded. "Sure."
Abigail stared at Gregory for a while, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Noticing her gaze, Gregory raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
Abigail pressed her lips into a line and said, "I feel like something's off with you today. Tell me, are you hiding something from me?"
Gregory chuckled. "How could that be? What's the name of that restaurant? I'll navigate."
Abigail didn't notice Gregory changing the subject and was quickly distracted. She hurriedly opened her phone to search for the restaurant's name.
Once they had the directions, Gregory made a U-turn and headed toward the restaurant.
Abigail was thoroughly satisfied with the meal. After eating, she leaned back against the sofa with a contented expression, her eyes half-closed.
"Indeed, eating is the happiest thing in the world!" Abigail said.
Seeing her earnestly express this life philosophy, Gregory couldn't help but laugh. "If you like it, I'll bring you here again next time."
Abigail shook her head and said, "Next time, let's try a different place. I am determined to taste all the food in Aramore!"
Gregory reached out and pinched her soft cheek with his well-defined fingers, asking, "How's the preparation for your fashion show going?"
Abigail replied, "It's almost done. It's scheduled for three days from now. Will you have time then?"
Gregory raised an eyebrow. "Are you inviting me?"
Abigail blinked. "Of course."
Gregory said, "But an invitation should be sincere. Otherwise, how will I know if you really want me to come?"
Abigail's eyes darted around, and she suddenly sat up, leaning close to Gregory.
Before he could react, she quickly planted a kiss on his lips.
"Is that sincere enough?" she asked.
Gregory's slender fingers lightly brushed his lips, where the soft warmth of Abigail's kiss seemed to linger.
He smiled, "Of course."
Three days later, the fashion show hosted by DM officially began, and Abigail was almost overwhelmed with work.
If this fashion show went well, it could attract more business partners. If it failed, DM's reputation would be ruined.
So Abigail took it very seriously and hadn't rested well for several days.
Early that morning, Abigail began orchestrating activities backstage. By the time the show officially commenced, the audience was brimming with notable figures from various industries.
Ever since DM got a new CEO, everyone had been paying close attention.
Many speculated that Abigail might become the next Michelle, leading DM back to its peak.
Tricia and Henry had gotten tickets for the inner circle and came specifically to cheer for Abigail.
Tricia excitedly hugged Abigail and praised, "Abigail, you're amazing! I just saw so many famous people from the financial world here. You're getting more impressive by the day."
Abigail smiled and shook her head, saying meaningfully, "They're not here for me; they're here for Mr. White."
She had only found out yesterday that Gregory had "accidentally" mentioned DM's fashion show while dining with clients a few days ago.
Since then, DM's phone hadn't stopped ringing.
Many reputable business people called to ask if there were any tickets left.
There were so many calls that Abigail had to switch to a larger venue at the last minute.
Thinking about this, a hint of helplessness flashed in Abigail's eyes.
'Maybe this is the benefit of having a husband with strong influence?' Abigail thought.
Hearing Abigail's words, Tricia and Henry couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"You're the first person in the world to describe Gregory like that." Henry gave her a thumbs up, looking impressed.
If he were Abigail, he would definitely make full use of Gregory's connections.
After all, they were family, so there was no need to be polite.
But Abigail wanted to prove her own abilities and get closer to Gregory through her own efforts.
Of course, Abigail had the capability.
How could a woman chosen by Gregory be incompetent?
At that moment, a staff member hurried over, looking flustered. "Ms. Martin, something's wrong. Several of our outfits have been damaged. What should we do?"
Abigail's face instantly darkened, and she frowned. "How did this happen?"
The staff member turned pale with fear and didn't dare to speak.
Abigail took a deep breath and said to Henry and Tricia, "I have some things to take care of. Let's have dinner together after the show."
The two nodded, concerned, "You go ahead. We'll just wander around."
Abigail went backstage and found that several outfits indeed had scratches and tears.
Gently touching the soft fabric's damage, a cold glint flashed in Abigail's eyes. 'These marks couldn't have been caused accidentally during transportation; someone had deliberately sabotaged them!'
